The Manchester United Thread

Seen quite a lot of Utd and other fans as well saying McTominey could well develop into a Dier from Spurs type player. Thoughts? For me he has more to his game than Dier going forward.

As when you were all over him going Utd, I've seen nothing a season on to suggest Dier isn't still a bang average footballer who works hard so he's favourably looked upon. Too many of them making major money this league.

Not someone I'd want to be compared to personally.

If he develops into a Dier type of player, I would be happy. I mean, Diers nothing special but its a 40m that can be invested somewhere else.

That the price on Dier? Man alive this crazy game.

No wonder Leicester are demanding an exorbitant fee for a lad they paid less than £500k for and the likes of Coutinho and Mbape go for mind-blowingly ridiculous fees with mediocrity costing you so much.

The markets bat S crazy mad and there's absolutely no current gauge to any players worth so F knows where it all stops?

He'll make a decent squad player so that's 20-30m we wont have to spend.

Outside of that I don't expect much of him.

Think he'll be a useful player for the team, probably more a rotation guy but saves money on buying someone for that role and is homegrown at the club for UEFA competitions which is a bonus

It just gives me pleasure knowing it's almost certain that one day Mourinho will start the tallest midfield in history of the sport with Fellaini, Matic and McTominay.

Most probably 50-60m knowing Levy ;)

Kinda confused by this Scouse. Dier may not be lighting up any fires but he is an essential cog in that Spurs side for a reason.

Plus I disagree that there are too many players like him in this league, there is in fact a shortage.

Some of the traits Dier and McTominay have may not be game changers but a lot of modern footballers don't have what they have. Discipline and high work rate go a long way in football and life generally.

There's a reason United are targeting the likes of Milinkovic Savic and Jorginho. At the heart of all their skills is tactical discipline and, work rate and decision making. Yes they have more, but those three assets make them excellent at any role, enhances a side

High work rate gives you a pass in today's game and gets you a lot higher than ever it should when it comes without the talent to go along with it z. You're describing the modern day player. Far from it being a shortage the top level, that's what most clubs are after. Athletes that will run all day at the expense of technique. They figure they can at least coach that to a passable standard.

The worst part of it all is that's the main criteria at youth level with most clubs now too.

And the FA wonder why the English National side has problems .....

Noticed James Wilson out of Sheffield Utd last 2 squads. Injured again. Poor lad just can’t stay fit. Loan was looking good as well. Will be gone in the Summer.

INTERNATIONAL: #MUFC new academy player Levent Gundogan is currently away with his Welsh national team age group after impressing for Utd u16s so far this season.

U23s: Good luck to #MUFC who face Villarreal in the quarter-finals of the #PLInternationalCup tonight at Leigh Sports Village, with kick-off at 19:00 GMT.

0-0 at HT Utd been far the better team after the first 10 mins. Gribbin linking up play very well especially with Chong who has been lively and could of had a couple bar 2 great saves. Ercolani, RoShaun, Riley very solid at the back. Hamilton having a good game for once getting help off Kehinde who is playing LW but coming in and playing more central. Good job because Redmond has been absolutely **** AGAIN! Olesunde done well at LB considering he has no left foot. Dearnley playing as ST looks lost playing that role. Can’t hold the ball up, keeps making the wrong runs and being caught offside not looking across the line. Causing a lot of out attacks to come to a halt. Could of had 4 for some great GK. Bring on Buffonge and Bohui and take off Dearnley and Redmond will beat these easy.

Kehinde MOTH great little player can do it all! Looks like Warren on for Olesunde who has a hamstring injury.

**** off! WTF was that Dearnley passes the ball to the Villarreal STR who has a pretty straight forward finish 2 mins into the second half. 0-1 Villarreal.

What a ******* joke this is! Ercolani with a soft back pass to the keeper and the Villarreal ST taps in for the second. Shambles after dominating the first half!

20 mins to go and Sbragia still has all our best players sat on the bench despite needing 2 goals...

Loooool I can’t believe brings on Bohui and takes off our most creative player in Gribbin Sbragia seriously WTF!!! Hamilton completely disappeared since there first goal.

Went out of the comp 0-2 with 2 of the softest goals I will see given away at any level. After that It was done and dusted. More cluelessness from Sbragia shown again tonight. Hope he seriously fecks off at the end of this season. What the heck do Bohui, Boonen, Kehinde and especially Buffonge have to do to get regular game time! They were absolute class for the u18s and have been good when given limited time this season.

There way better than the likes of Hamilton, Redmond, Dearnley, Sang who seem to start despite being **** week in week out and see us getting relegated by the looks of things. God help our most talented players next season if Sbragia gets near them!!!!

Trial singing section in L stand for Brighton FA Cup game-

If you would like to move to L Stand for the FA Cup match vs Brighton (KO 19.45 on 17th March) all season ticket holders can now contact the ticket office on 0161 868 8000 to request a move for this game.

There will be relaxed stewarding with respect to standing, and supporters are required to stand up, sing and support the team for 90 minutes.

The aim of this is to show the club what can be done with regards to atmosphere if they allow like minded fans to get together, stand together and create an away end mentality at home...

If the trial is successful, then it will be rolled out permanently in J Stand.
