The Manchester United Thread

It's beyond ridiculous the lack of time given to managers now. And it's right the way through the leagues. Most cases it's an instant judge on 10 games or so and then move on to the next man. Utter madness.

Aside from money levelling everything out (State-owned clubs like City excepted), you can't see a dynasty ever again to anything like the extent of L'pool the '70's/'80's and Utd the 90's/00's as managers just aren't given any time to properly build a team/ club anymore.

For as good as the PL has been, it's F the game in so many ways it's untrue.

Looks like Pool have found a LT manager in Klopp but you just never know. Really hope after Mourinho it’s the next step for us. He will have done his job. Steadied the ship got us back in the CL regular hopefully cleared out the deadwood and left the next manger with some top quality players and a balanced squad age wise. All ready for someone to come and stay 5-6 yrs.

If Conte or Klopp had the money that Mourinho has spent, they would have likely won the title.

Conte. Me thinks not. Not like he had a team of players full of nobodies or bought from the lower leagues. Maybe was your try at humour ;)

Nainggolan out and Fellaini in for Belgium. This is getting silly.
Tbh he’s been pretty poor all season. And lots of stories about him going out partying and turning up late for training. Think his lifestyle a bit like Rooney catching up with him. Loves his drink and smoking.

Poor? For me, one of Romas best performers this season behind maybe Dzeko and Kolarov. (Kolarov had a great season, 50 odd appearances and 11 assists, not bad for under 5 mil at left back!)

Nainggolan wasn't quite as good as last year but still got a good amount of goals and assists from CM.

On United, I'm keen to see how Gomes, Gribbin and Chong turn out from the youth team

Kieran McKenna has been promoted to Jose Mourinho's backroom team @ManUtd. Has impressed hugely since joining from Tottenham in 2016.[BBC]

:)

After a ravaged season with injuries last 2 years Gribbin has been fantastic this season in a poor u23s. It’s a miracle how good Chong has been! Recovering from a career threatening injury potentially. Then getting promoted to the u23s against more physical and older players and absolutely terrorising defences. Gomes been injured nearly all season but played well when fit. All 3 will go on the tour. Really have some fantastic players coming through. Not including the ones we have signed recently!

#MUFC Under-18s midfielder James Garner has put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract. Congrats, James!

Delighted about this. He is up there potential wise with Gomes, Chong, Greenwood. Carrick working with him will have helped!

Would you guys be happy going in to next season with something like this?

OUT: Carrick (Contract), Fellaini (Contract), Blind, Darmian, Rojo, Jones, Martial.

IN: LB - Sandro, CB - Alderweireld, CM - Fred, RW - Willian.

Other rumours in: Rose, Tierney, Ghoulam, Sessegnon Sidibe, Vrsaljko, SM-Savic, Talisca, Seri, A. Vidal, Kluivert, Bale.

Dont want Martial to go or Rojo. Would prefer Smalling to go instead of Jones who should be no more than a rotation option. Would love Willian, Alderweriald, Sandro, Fred. Not keen on Valencia starting want him gazed out by TFM or a new Rb. With both Fellaini and Carrick would ideally like another CM in. Depending on what happens with Mctominay, Periera, Gomes. If those 3 are part of the squad then no need for another.

Yeah out of Jones, Rojo and Smalling I picked Smalling since Mou seem to like him more than the others.

And yeah, I don't want Martial to leave either but if he wants then we might as well since we have Alexis, Lingard, Rashford already capable of playing on the left wing.

And for Valencia/Young I can see them play this season out as RB and then next summer we buy a proper RB and have Mensah competing maybe!

Dont think Mourinho really rates Smalling tbh he’s just the most reliable fitness wise atm. Seen a article by Ducker a few weeks back saying he frustrated by Smalling lack of ability with build up from the back. With maybe Alderweriald coming to partner Bailly. Lindelöf, Jones, Tuanzebe would be more than enough. Don’t think we will see Lingard on the left next season. Still not 100% sure Martial and Shaw will leave this summer. Especially Martial.
