The Manchester United Thread

They're pretty much equal, except for when it comes to price. Leicester's demands would exceed what they got for Maguire, whereas Grealish will probably be around £60m, perhaps less if Villa go down; so I'd go for Jack. Not sure we'll need either if the Fernandes transfer is actually happening though.
Yeah similar thoughts also think Grealish is a better dribbler. Yeah with Fernandes signing a more DM type would be my next target. Then a winger

#mufc offered Joel Pereira to Sporting Lisbon but the offer was turned down #mulive [telegraph]

Another player that will be off now or in the Summer. Shame he’s got talent but we are truly staked in the GK department

Are we really going to go through the full squad offering ***** players to try and save a few quid rather than just pay up and get the deal done? We need a DoF asap and stop with this ****.

Sporting asked for Rojo and cash. And what’s wrong with trying save money either way. Jeez some fans will literally moan at anything

Because it's typical ******* about from us. It will be deadline day at this rate. Is it worth him missing out on the Wolves or Liverpool game for the sake of rojo or Joel? It's a joke. Just get it done and stop ******* about

Why not just give them a 70/100 m while we are at it

My lord we have some moaners.

It appears Sporting have recently contacted United after attempting to hard ball the club in the Summer.

Why are our fans always such sissys when it comes to the final moments of a getting a decent deal closed? I swear our fans would be the worst negotiators in the World.

Oh **** off. Like we're saving loads of money by throwing in rojo or Joel. £5m tops. This is why it takes a month to sign a player. Too much ******* about.
We don’t know how much we could possibly be saving as the deal isn’t done yet.

Just wondering what the thoughts are on here between Maddison and Grealish in the summer?

Personally prefer Grealish.
Price aside (Maddy would be tad more expensive in transfer and wages). I love Maddy technical ability and vision on the pitch, he controls it a lot better + can play as CM and AM, Grealish is more of an attacking mid and on wings. But dont think even in summer you would be getting him.
Grealish is a bit more aggressive and a thug, so depending on the team and situation it can be good or bad.

Injury update
Eric Bailly closer?
He’s very close, back for the weekend, got a game arranged today for the reserves, hopefully get 90 mins so might be ready for Liverpool.

Young?
Not involved at all.

We're far too slow with deals, agree with Steve. This was my biggest gripe in the summer, why we couldn't get a midfielder then because we're only capable of completing 3 deals in a summer window? It shouldn't even be negotiated now, majority of it should have been done before the window even opened and then the trigger to get him done.

When was the last time we ever signed someone out of the blue? All our deals are leaked weeks and weeks if not months before we are capable of closing the deal.

This Fernandes deal would be good if it ever happens, but highlights more than ever our incompetence imo.

Funny thing is, if we lose to Liverpool that's then 8 points behind Chelsea and likely top 4 gone before he even comes. If he does come at this rate.

We didn’t get a CM in the summer because Ole didn’t want one. Nothing to do with not being able to sign one.

How can we negotiate for a player who up until Friday we didn’t know was available.

If Ole didn't want him then, why now? Something must be a miss.

We didn’t want to pay the 70-75m + Sporting wanted at the time According to Ducker. Also one of the reasons the Spurs deal for him fell through due to there last min demands.

He’s most likely been on our list with the likes of Grealish, Maddison etc. But we ain’t getting a player like that in Jan. So having been offered Fernandes by Sporting due to them needing funds and our CM situation then Ole has signed off on the player.

We can complain all we like and rightly so sometimes. But a deal like this takes time especially when other players are involved and talks only started on Thu/Fri.

Funny after demanding silly money in the summer Sporting are now desperate and could get a far worse a deal, we will have to see of course when it’s complete. And in the process shift a player we don’t want out in the same time.

by the sound of it though, Sporting aren't shifting, still far apart in negotiations so sounds like nothing much has changed.
