Seeing people think Lindelof had a bad game. What were they watching I honestly feel for him having to play alongside Maguire. Seriously it felt like watching a Skrtel regen he never communicates with his CB partner. You see Virgil constantly Communicate with Gomez telling him when he will step up or drop off. Maguire plays CB like he plays on its own. Yeah Lindelof has his weaknesses but on a defensive part of his game he is actually a very good defender. That play on Mane when he showed him onto his left after Maguire left him on his own getting nutmegged by Wiji was excellent.

Neither Maguire or a Lindelöf were the problem today.

Watch the game apart from in the air Lindelof is by far a better defender than Maguire. Maguire cannot lead a line to save his life. It was like watching Skrtel but hey his decent on the ball.
 
Other attacking players that are out of contract that could be available. Giroud, Gotze, Mertens, Fraser, Kovalenko, Callejon.

Maybe Jovic from Madrid on loan who ain’t playing a game and not fancied.

You do make a valid point with the lack of communication. He was brought in to essentially bring some leadership to that backline. So far, I just haven't seen that leadership

Which is why it makes me laugh when he gets branded as a leader as he isn't. What ends up happening is you get two CB's playing the game on their own not telling the other when he has dropped off. I watched Maguire closely and he was just playing the line like all that mattered was him not knowing his decisions affect the whole backline. Maguire needs someone next to him to lead him let alone him having the armband.

I'd take him without a second thought if he can get his form pre-milan or when he just joined.

One bonus from today is dalot coming on instead of Lingard. Hopefully Ole has put his foot down with him now and had enough

Yeah it’s good to see Dalot back. Clearly looked rusty. Hopefully can stay fit now and provide the squad with some extra good depth. Same goes for Bailly and TFM. We need players back ASAP!

On loan he will be good enough till the end of the season. As long as Martial, James, Mata and maybe Fernandes can feed him. Still a good player and Milan are a bigger shambles than us atm.

I'd get Jimenez from Wolves in the summer. In his prime and has added goals to his game now but most importantly comfortable in both a possesion and counter attacking style of play.
 
Don’t agree with Maguire not being a leader. Today I admit he seemed a little lost and it didn’t work with him and Lindelöf. But he usually does point and try guiding players. Also noticed on more than a few occasions watching matches back. That he quite often isn’t shy in telling a player to do this or that or calm down a little. Also you always notice him after we score going around the players to get back on it concentrate etc.

For Sure I would take him or Cavani in the summer. Jimenez first choice. But for now we need to bring someone in.

Nah, I've noticed it for a while now, not just this game. You could say he had a bad game but there's a trend in our defending that I'd want to point out


There have been these occasions where I'd see him trying to play offside but Lindelof or some fullback isn't in tune with what he's trying to do. He's supposed to be the one barking orders but he doesn't and there's this disconnect with him and the other defenders.

I personally think he's a good defender but he needs to be much more vocal. I remember the days of Vidic where you'd see him barking at evra and/or Rafeal for not holding their position or not staying with their man on set pieces. Yeah, we desperately miss that
