Let's go lads. Banana peel fixture this one when you take into consideration that all our losses this season have been at Old trafford plus Burnley are battling relegation. Bottom half teams are at their most dangerous when there's an ongoing relegation battle.

If Pogba goes, then there goes your link to Fernandes and the forwards. Camavinga is not a playmaker, atleast not yet (he is 18). van de Beek was also brought in to replace Pogba, so if Solskjaer starts trusting him, then okay. Otherwise, only a DM is pointless, it'll be similar to McFred w/o a creative presence in the midfield. With SMS, atleast he would carry it forward and provide a link and combine with Fernandes, Rashford etc.

Also, playmakers from deep are **** expensive. We have needed someone who could dictate tempo for a long, long time (since Carrick), but they are few and far between, and a lot of them are unavailable. Frenkie de Jong, for example, is an excellent option, and after his initial struggles, has come in leaps and bounds, but there will be a host of teams queueing for him when he decides to leave. Tonali is another to look out for, with a similar profile to Carrick (Regista/DLP).

If Pogba leaves, you'd think the profile to be targeted is Aouar/SMS, who are creative and can also carry the ball from deep. Without Pogba, our midfield is purely functional and pretty boring. You definitely need a like for like replacement. A proper defensive player is needed, sure. But not at the cost of one or the other. You need creative and goal threats from all sides of the pitch, only then will it be truly effective. Can't always just pass it to Fernandes and hope he pulls magic out of thin air.

There’s no point signing a line for like Pogba replacement to play out wide. The only way Pogba or his replacement is gonna play in CM is if Ole signs and trusts the DM partner. Hence why Pogba gets shunted out wide all the time as he doesn’t trust him to play with Mc/Fred

You wouldn’t lose that link if we bought a DLP that can defend in. Plus you would get that creativity back with better balance and a genuine RW playmaker.
 
Do we have any more questions on who's currently better, Dean or David?

Really? Hasn't Pogba almost always played in a 2 man midfield this season? (Bar the odd couple of games where he played on the wings). Mostly, it has been one of McTominey or Fred with Pogba in CM, from what I recall. He played around 6-7 games on the wings, otherwise, it has been DM/CM for him, mostly, right?

Bottom line, not stating that we need a proper defensive player. But it cannot come at the cost of replacing a Pogba with Camavinga.

He’s started 6 from the left and 6 from CM and his average rating and his output assists and goal wise has been way higher from the left. From Whoscored and squaka stats sites
 
Don’t t get me wrong Sherky if Pogba was playing in a 2 week in week out I would agree but he’s not even when coming on as a sub he gets out into wide left more than CM. One of my big gripes with Ole!
 
If De Gea was in goal there would be questions why hasn't he come for the ball and Henderson most certainly would.

And once again Henderson swimming into nothing.
 
One of the best Greenwood games in a long, long while.

Other than missing few yellows for Burnley, Jon Moss had a good game imo.

With his sweeper-keeper style of playing, you can expect mistakes every now and then. DDG rarely ever comes off his line which has subtly cost us a lot of goals lately

I cursed him today lol.

Anyway **** off dirty Burnley. Another good win. Today’s another illustration of why Pogba gets put out on the left. Like Neville said in commentary he’s not aloud to drive forward as much and you largely don’t notice him playing with any of our current CMs.
