No one is saying they shouldn't be addressed. Tyton merely pointed out that it's hypocritical on our part to be disgusted when someone abused a women yet act nonchalant when abuse of certain male players happens every weekend and we dismiss it as 'banter'. At the end of the day, if you are a **** to Eva Caneiro or Steven Gerrard, you are still a ****. Let's not try and differentiate one from the other just due to the nature of the victim

In that case some calling Rooney shrek is same as someone calling ******* black ****? Both are to wind up opponent? There is a reason abuse of women and black people taken more seriously and that's to do with history.

No one is condoning abuse players get or men get, issue has been raised about sexist chants and it shouldn't be ignore just because other form of abuse is ignored in the game. That's what Tyton said.

Abusing women is different from men slagging off men. .

Eh, except they are not being abused because of their gender, are they? They are being abused because they are away team staff. The reason this happens is not because people are sexist, is because abuse of away teams and officials is tolerated in football.

Labeling it as sexist is some *** backwards logic. So yeah, mainstream press is going to ride that horse for a couple of months, someone will probably make Switch It Off campaign or whatever, and it will eventually stop. Great.

In the meantime, **** like this will still be tolerated:

Great ******* solution to problems with football fan culture, we save 3 people from abuse, meanwhile the other 50000 will still have to listen to abuse every day for their entire career.

Of course their are reasons why abuse of black men and women capture the media's attention far more than someone insulting Steven Gerrard. Of course it has to do with historical discrimination against these two groups. But by actually falling in with societal norms and giving these groups extra attention whener they are insulted, you are only adding to the problem by treating these groups as if they are special and somehow distinct from normal society instead of treating them as any normal group in society

I don't think Tyton meant we shouldn't stamp out sexist abuse. It's just that we can't be disgusted by it on one hand yet abuse and insult a male player every week

We don't see any of these clowns posting videos of abuse that normal players and refs receive every game and week do we?

It don't matter if your a ref, weoman, man, black, white or what ever the circumstance abuse of any sort should not be tolerated and think it shows a lack of class respect or what ever you wanna call IMO.

Of course it shouldn't be ignored, but it should be addressed alongside wider issues with abusive chants in football. Fixating over "you can't abuse [insert group of people]" just causes a situation where everybody else is excluded from protection by authorities.

I was always on board with campaigns against racism, because back in a day a lot of fans actually were racist, and not just shouting in frustration towards a guy in away team shirt. That's a different issue that needed to be tackled separately.

But this? This isn't sexism or prejudice, its something that happens to male staff and players on regular basis, except its always just shrugged off as 'banter'. There's this urban legend about Poland-England games back in the 90s, when our manager supposedly instructed Beckham's marker to shout rubbish about certain Spicegirl. But I'm pretty sure manager wasn't sexist, he was just a **** (and got later caught participating in game fixing, but that's a story for another day)

Pellegrini said: “You will never see a player of City surround the referee. I don't think that's the way this team is prepared to win".

Oh really?? ;)

Earlier I though Man City may have a slight chance of catching Chelsea up. Now only thing springs to mind when I think of their title chances.

FA chairman Greg **** has warned Premier League football is in danger of "having nothing to do with English people" as new proposals to limit the number of non-EU players are outlined by English football's governing body.

The FA has also revealed plans to toughen the rules on home-grown talent in the latest proposals from its commission, which was set up in 2013 to improve the England team.

The commission has also proposed changes to work permit rules having highlighted flaws in the system.

The stricter work-permit rules, approved by the Home Office on Friday, will come into force from 1 May.

Under the proposals outlined by the FA on Monday:

  • A player will have to have been registered with his club from the age of 15 - down from 18 - to qualify as 'home-grown'.
  • The minimum number of home-grown players in a club's first-team squad of 25 will increase from eight to 12, phased over four years from 2016.

  • At least two home-grown players must also be 'club-trained' players - defined as any player, irrespective of nationality, that has been registered for three years at their club from the age of 15.

  • Only the best non-EU foreign players will be granted permission to play in England.

"Only the best non-EU foreign players will be granted permission to play in England."
What utter ****. Meaning, other than the Cavani's and Silva's and Aguero's, it's time to say bye-bye to talented non-EU youngsters from now//

I understand HG rules toughening, but this is tightening screws from both ends.. Something has to give..

What does restricting non EU players do to make the game more about "English people"?

I mean what does it matter if a player is Spanish or Columbian?

If the idea behind this is actually to make clubs more focused on developing English/Home-grown players surely the squad rules etc. are sufficient?
