And in a mad season like the upcoming one, with all the Champions League/ other European competition groups done by November, with literally a game every 3 days or so from the get-go, never has it's introduction been more timely.
Should put a completely different slant on a lot of squad players now too who may have been looking for more game time elsewhere. Lot more scope for a lot more minutes across squads.
Absolutely they should reduce fixtures. Although not serious, we've just had Jota pull up with a strain for Portugal. Absolute disgrace that they are cramming in 4 Internationals in 10 days after the season has ended, with the new one a month and a half away or so down to the scandalous November World Cup.
But sadly they are never going to downsize games as money and greed dictates.
