Final Game of the Season

A good draw against a Benevento side that won the league last week. A rare Schiavi goal got us ahead El Khayari put in a good through ball and Schiavi fired in high. Ceroni levelled the game after 56 minutes he cut inside and fired high past Kastrati at the near post.

We lost to them 3-0 in the first game and drew 0-0 in the second so we are definitely second favourites​

Yeah, I also realised that we have to win one of the two games as if it is drawn we go out as the team that finished lower in the league so to stay up we will have to win a fourth game of the season

Kickoff

42 Minutes: We get a throw in wide on the right and pass the ball across to the left. It gets to Ciogli and he passes it to El Khayari on the edge of the box he cut inside and past a defender before firing a shot just inside the post and in. One of few contributions from him since he signed but, it could be vital.

45+1 Minutes Schiavi picks up the ball 30 yards out and passes to Monteforte who with a slick backheel gets the ball onto Terriaca he takes a touch inside to get past his man and then fires high past the keeper at the near post from what looked to be a half of no highlights we are two goals to the good.

Half Time

Four big minutes tip the tie in our favour now we just have to draw from here on in and we have been great at doing that this year.

48 Minutes Cavese on the attack Cusinato has the ball outwide and whips in a great cross from six yards out Ravigella stretches out and pokes the ball past Kastrati but, it bounces off the near post and Camoletto hammers the loose ball away.

68 Minutes Giovanelli whips in a low cross from a throw in and Kastrati comes out to claim it oddly but, the fast ball hits off of Camoletto and rolls across the line.

I had planned on adding drama but, unfortunately the game contained one highlight our goal. It was a good one as we worked the ball up the pitch before Monteforte played in Terriaca and his first time shot from 20 yards out flew over the keepers head and in somehow. A flukeish goal but,

Trapani survive courtesy of being the higher placed seed despite Torres fighting back in the second leg so will be joining us next year in the Serie C/C.

Despite our awful start to the season we are still in the league and my gamble in January has paid off​

Well done on surviving the drop! Important games at the end there, hopefully you can build and improve for next season! Great to be where you are already though

Thanks, yeah big games but, we came through if we can keep up our defensive form and add some better attacking players we have a good chance. Safety is nice for sure

Thanks, yeah almost more wins in the playout than we had in the rest in the rest of the season good ability in big games
 
End of Season Review

After dramatically securing survival for another year in the Serie C/C time for a look back at what was in the end a successful enough season.

Not only does Kastrati not win player of the season but, he isn't in the top three not sure what matches the fans were watching. Terriaca did have a good year with three goals and nine assists which is a high percentage of the few goals we scored. Schiavi had a solid season at DM and deserved second in player of the year, signing of the season and young player of the season.

Monteforte being top scorer with six goals shows exactly where needs upgrading for next season goal threats were missing for a number of games this season which meant we couldn't fully take advantage of a solid defence in the second half of the season. De Chirico finished second in scoring with four goals while Terriaca and Almetti both bagged three.

The wage budget is doubled and we have 55k to spend on transfers. Although as I was well over the last budget we only have 10 grand spare but, at this level it is a lot.​

We are back in the big leagues paying money for a player for the first time since I took over and it is someone who has already been in the team.

We forked out an entire 11,250 on the transfer but, it could rise to an entire 15,000 euros as we splash the cash​

We managed to win the Serie D Poule Scudetto despite never entering it and getting knocked out in the group stage last year. This is nice but, also annoying as we have to pay the squad 10k for the achievement​

We sell a player for money actual money an entire 1.5k arrived in exchange for Capuano. With some new signings he was surplus and any money coming in is appreciated.​

We get Campobasso who were midtable last year and newly promoted Fidelis Andria so as I hope we have improved this year I would hope that we win the group and get further in the tournament than we did last year.

After three good years with us Silvestri moves to Rimini in the Serie C/B for €4,000 a nice fee and he can hopefully get more first team football than he did last year.

Kastrati makes a big move to the Serbian First League after turning down an offer to go to the SuperLeague he played 4 times awfully and for a very high wage so I am happy to move him on and get a rather big fee for him despite his poor performance.​

Well we are still predicted to finish last but, last season it was 2000-1 and this year it is 1000-1 so we have improved. As we beat Normanna to promotion two years ago and beat them in a friendly this summer I think we can do better​

Cash has been splashed as 13 players made the move to Castel di Sangro including the club first signings from abroad as the rep boost we got for surviving helps us to attract a higher quality of player.

View attachment 165527We get back Folorunsho after he refused to sign a contract last season I spent 11.25k rising to 15k to bring him back. He was able to dominate the middle of the park for us two years ago and hopefully he can prove himself at a higher level.

View attachment 165526Ruggeri is a hard working defensive minded midfielder who can hopefully try and stem attacks and he also has enough ability to launch new attacks. He came through the Cagliari youth academy and played a season for Selargius in the Serie D.

View attachment 165525Jimenez is a talented centre back who is from Valencia's youth academy he has played a few times in the Adelante for Mestella last year he played in the Spanish third division for Parla before moving to us for a free transfer.

Michael can play at RB or LB and will provide cover at both positions for the upcoming season. He moved from Pro Vercelli to two different clubs in the Serie D so this will be a step up for him.

A tricky German right winger he signed from Ulm in the German lower divisions on a free transfer. He will likely rotate for the spot in what will be a big fight for the right wing spot.

Also from the lower divisions of Germany Gerhart gives us much needed depth at DM where last season we only had Schiavi who could play in that role. A good tackling DM he will hopefully challenge Schiavi for the role which could improve both of them.

A young striker with good potential and ability who is an improvement on Almetti and Monteforte. He came through the Inter youth academy and has had to drop down a few divisions to prove himself. Although he does have very odd eyes.

View attachment 165512Aliberti comes from Fiorentina's youth academy and can provide cover for either wing as well as just covering CM. A good cover player for both flanks he should see a decent amount of game time this season.

Cuccu is a talented striker from Cagliari who has played a season in the lower league but, moved to us. A good option given Vitali's failure to start well he may well be the starting striker for us this season.

A very busy transfer window with some good signings. I just hope they can all gel quickly to give you a good start to the season! Also I can't tell if Reho looks very surprised or very angry haha!

Yeah decided I had to be ruthless and get rid of anyone who didn't do well last year. Yeah, that is the concern the good thing is they all joined on the first day of the transfer window so they should be able to have gelled a bit before the season has started. Yeah not sure his eyebrows look quite evil

August Update

We have two Serie C cup games which will give us an indication of whether we can do better this season than last season.

In what was an even and uneventful game we get three points to kick off the group stage of the cup. It was looking to end in a nil nil draw. But, after 81 minutes Amorfini made a run to get onto the end of the corner and he got in front of his man and was able to poke the ball past the keeper and in. A late goal that gets us off to a winning start.

Cuccu grabbed a double as we fall to Fidelis Andria in the end I decided to go for the win which led to us conceding two goals on the counter. Cuccu got us ahead after 3 minutes, Bresciani whipped in a low cross and Cuccu flicked in from close range. Hottor made it level after 16 minutes a free kick was sent into the box it bounced around and Hottor fired in the loose ball. Cuccu got us back ahead soon after he intercepted a poor backpass and slotted the ball past the keeper. Balzano got the game back on level pegging again as he was left to run free and head in a free kick. After I decided to chase the game Grandolfo scored twice first after 76 minutes a player was tackled in the box and the ball fell to Grandolfo and he fired into a quite open goal. He then grabbed a second goal after 85 minutes with a perfectly placed finish when he was 1 on 1 with the keeper.

We are likely out but, I don't mind as it isn't important for us and we did well in both games and scored three goals which was our big problem last year.
