2014/2015 Premier League Summary

Wednesday 26th May 2015

11-2.png

With the Premier League season over and 20 teams assessing their situations and what is the best way to move forward from their success, or failure in this years campaign will soon be put into plan. But first of all it's time to take a look at the season summary and see who finished top of the scorers chart, and who won Footballer of the year.

2014/15 Premier League Table
Leaguetable-1.png

Manchester United once again claim the Premier League Title and remain unbeaten for the second season consecutively with a records points total of 112, 2 more than the previous record set by Manchester United last season of 110. Manchester United also scored a record number of league goals an unbelievable 161 in 38 matches. Despite a late revival under Sam Allardyce Arsenal could only finish in 7th position behind an impressive Sunderland who under Eddie Howe have been in fantastic form this season.

With Bolton, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough being relegated from the Premier League they will be looking forward to facing a spell in the Championship next season. With Bolton being relegated, boss Owen Coyle has been sacked from his position whilst Middlesbrough despite a points total of 16 have kept hold of their manager. Another surprise is Burnley finishing in 9th position under boss Gianfranco Zola who has done a fantastic job.

2014/15 Premier League Goals Table
GoalsChart.png

With the Top 10 Premier League Goals Table dominated by Manchester United players with Chicharito once again claiming Premier League top scorer for the second consecutive season, despite scoring 15 goals less than last season. Cristiano Ronaldo in his first season back in the Premier League scored an impressive 32 goals, 4 more than third placed Fernando Torres at Chelsea who had been in fantastic form for the Blues. Carlos Tevez also showed his value to Tottenham being their top scorer with an impressive 21 goals in his debut season for Spurs.

The most surprising inclusion was a certain Ched Evans who scored 19 goals for club Sheffield United which worked out at nearly half of their entire goals tally for the season. Ched Evans' goals were largely responsible for the Sheffield United maintaining their Premiership status for the 2015/16 season.

2014/15 Premier League Assists Table
AssistsChart.png

With stand out performer Marc Jones once again heading the assists chart this time with an incredible 32 assists in 38 matches for Manchester United. It's worth noting that Marc Jones also scored an incredibly 17 goals from midfield in the Premier League for the Red Devils. With the assists chart being dominated by Manchester United players with debut season man Gustavo Amaya finishing in 10th position with 11 assists a great feat for someone making their debut in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo also chipped in with an incredible 21 assists for Manchester United as he propelled them to yet another title in his first season back with the club, making his goal and assists tally to add up to providing 53 goals for the Red Devils. Chicharito, Wayne Rooney and Nani also contributed massively to the success of the Manchester club providing 49 assists between the trio.

2014/15 Premier League Average Ratings Table
AverageRatings.png

There were no surprises in the average ratings table with Manchester United completely dominating the first 10 positions with their first 10 outfield players claiming the right in their place. The stand out performers have to be Marc Jones and Cristiano Ronaldo who managed to have an extremely consistent season both scoring and assisting most of Manchester United's goals and allowing them to maintain their success.

2014/15 Premier League Performance of the Season

The 2014/15 Premier League Performance of the Season award has to go to Manchester United as they despatched one of their main title rivals with a 5 - 0 demolition at Old Trafford. With England and United striker Wayne Rooney putting in a man of the match performance

Manchester United shocked the Premier League as they destroyed their closest rivals at Old Trafford today. United who were expected to get a narrow win before the game got off to the best possible start when Chelsea Captain John Terry pulled back Wayne Rooney in the area. It was a careless challenge to make with Wayne running into a dead end, Nani stepped up and scored with consummate ease. Little did Chelsea know that this was going to be the beginning of something special for the Red Devils. Nani turned provider for the second goal after tearing right back Ivanovic to pieces before playing a wonderful cross into the area for Wayne Rooney to get there first and finish neatly at the near post.

Wayne Rooney had the better of David Luiz all game

In the second half Chelsea once again started in the worst possible way after David Luiz came in on the back of Cristiano Ronaldo on in the penalty area to concede their second penalty of the game. Once again Luis Nani stepped up to the plate, and smashed home with Petr Cech having no chance. The fourth goal of the game was a fantastic effort from Cristiano Ronaldo who was played clean through by Wayne Rooney, to fire a powerful shot past the despairing Petr Cech. It was Wayne Rooney who capped a top draw performance with a fantastic volley from the edge of the area after Nani's shot was parried by the Chelsea keeper.

2014/15 Premier League Awards

There were no surprises that most of the awards went to Manchester United players as they completely dominated the league whilst having an exceptional attacking quartet of Nani, Chicharito, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo they also have a solid back line with Vidic and Evans at the heart of the defence.

Focus turns to Carling Nations Cup

Wednesday 27th May 2015

With the Premier League campaign over and the Champions League Final against Real Madrid on Saturday it's time for both the Welsh members of Manchester United's squad and Sir Ryan Giggs to turn their focus to claiming the third Carling Four Nations Cup Trophy consecutively. After defeating Scotland in the first game of the tournament back in February 3 - 0, Wales will be looking at putting in a strong performance today as if they defeat Ireland then they will be one step closer to claiming the trophy.

Wales showed their class today as they despatched of Ireland in the second Carling Nations Cup match putting themselves at the top of the table going into the final game of the Tournament on Friday against Northern Ireland. Manchester United star Andy King opened the scoring in the 20th minute after some fabulous work down the left flank from Gareth Bale. Aaron Ramsey then turned provider for Jack Collison who got up high at the far post and headed in from close range.

Gareth Bale provided a second assist for Wales as he put a wonderful corner to James Collins to put a powerful header straight past the keeper. Adam Rooney handed the Irish a lifeline in the 44th minute just before half time, but that hope was short lived with Ched Evans scoring a close range finish thanks to a killer ball from Jack Collison. The final goal of the day came from star midfielder Marc Jones who capped yet another masterful midfield performance.

Wales somewhat struggled against a Northern Ireland side that was missing star defender Jonny Evans who wasn't selected ahead of the Champions League Final tomorrow. Wales eventually broke the deadlock in the 45th minute after dominating possession with Jack Collison grabbing his second goal in two games when he scored a close range finish thanks to a wonderful cross from Gareth Bale down the left flank. Neil Taylor then provided the final goal of the game after putting a wonderful cross to the head of Marc Jones who made a fantastic run through the middle from midfield.

TROPHIES TO PLAY FOR

1301394.png
facup.png

With Manchester United having already won an incredible 5 trophies so far this season being the Community Shield, European Super Cup, Club World Championship, Carling Cup and the Premier League. This is undoubtedly a sensational trophy haul for one season and with plenty still to play for, a Champions League Final facing Real Madrid in Ibrox in Scotland, and an FA Cup Final against Birmingham City in Wembley Stadium.

Manchester United will be without key Welsh stars as they prepare for the Champions League Final today as they are still travelling back from their match against Northern Ireland in the Carling Four Nations Cup, which means that Manchester United are liekly to line up with Darren Fletcher and Gustavo Amaya in central midfield with Nani potentially returning to the left flank ahead of the clash against Real Madrid.

Manchester United without Gareth Bale and Marc Jones bring in Darren Fletcher and Rafael respectively who returns from a domestic ban with Patrice Evra moving to his favoured left back position. Jason Steele retains his position in goal after coming into to replace Jose Campodonico towards the end of the domestic campaign, and has impressed boss Sir Ryan Giggs and once again starts for them. Darren Fletcher who was left out of the Carling Four Nations Cup also starts in central midfield alongside Gustavo Amaya who will be playing the role of Marc Jones in trying to creating goals for Manchester United.

The Red Devils will no doubt not be fearful of this Real Madrid side, as without Cristiano Ronaldo they have not been the same team and finished a dismal 9 points behind La Liga Champions Barcelona who were the team to beat in Spain this season. Another inclusion that might interest you, is the inclusion of a certain Ganso in the Real Madrid line up who has recently declared that he is unhappy under manager Michel. It has been rumoured that Manchester United are interested in him and it has been reported that Sir Ryan Giggs has a meeting with the 25 year old Brazilian in the coming days.

MoM: Chicharito (9.0)

In a thriller of a Champions League Final, Manchester United overran a poor Real Madrid side and it was in no doubt a fantastic performance from Wayne Rooney and Chicharito that secured this sensational win for the Red Devils. It was that man Wayne Rooney who opened the scoring in the 8th minute striking a powerful shot that ricocheted off the post and into the far corner of the net. Chicharito was handed his first goal of the day after Subotic came in hard on Wayne Rooney and the ball rebounded straight to the feet of the Mexican sniper to pop a shot past the despairing Iker Casillas. With many people believing it would be this man who would bring Real Madrid's dreams crashing down in flames were in part right with Cristiano Ronaldo firing a powerful shot past the keeper from the edge of the area.

Gonzalo Higuain handed Real Madrid a lifeline two minutes into the second half after scoring a real poachers effort after beating Nemanja Vidic to the ball at the far post. Real Madrid really gave it a go for 15 minutes before it was that man Nani who popped up in the 62nd minute who smashed home a volley after a Darren Fletcher shot careered off the bar. It was game over in the 67th minute as Chicharito picked up the ball inside the area to smash home from close range. Huntelaar scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute as Real Madrid slumped to a 5 - 2 defeat to Manchester United in a match that had been billed to be a far closer affair.

Manchester United bring in several players as they look to keep a fresh line up in preparation for their FA Cup Final Clash against Birmingham City. David Beckham leads Manchester United out for his last professional match of his illustrious career after announcing earlier in the season that this would be his last. He will no doubt hope to go out with a bang and propel Manchester United to their 2nd FA Cup in two seasons under Sir Ryan Giggs.

After finishing in 11th position in the Premier League Birmingham City will be hoping to pull a performance out of the bag as they bid to win the FA Cup for the first time in their career, and will hope not to remain frustrated after already appearing in 3 finals to leave runners up. Birmingham City boss Avram Grant names his strongest line up with Charlie Austin starting up front and J Cork providing support from an AMC role he will be hoping for a top performance from the midfield as people believe that is there the title could be won or lost.

MoM: David Beckham (8.5)

In a match of fine margins it was that man David Beckham who rolled back the years to put in a midfield master class against Birmingham City, assisting both of Manchester United's goals. The first goal of the game came in the 47th minute with David Beckham playing a wonderful pass for Marc Jones to score a powerful left footed effort from just outside the area to make it 1 - 0. With Birmingham City continuing to push forward and attempt to get back into the game firing narrowly wide on several occasions. It was eventually Manchester United who doubled their lead coming from an unexpected source Northern Ireland centre back Jonny Evans who headed in a David Beckham corner kick to make it 2 - 0 on 67 minutes. David Beckham had the ultimate chance to cap his masterful performance with a free kick effort that ricocheted off the underside of the bar with Ben Foster well beaten to be headed away by Caruzzo.

Absolute class. This is ****** brilliant. 112 out of 114 possible points is freaking awesome. Only Blackburn prevented it from being a clean sweep. Amazing!

P.S. Take a look at mine too. Its just updated.
