Rudd in, Mika Out.

Declan Rudd joins the club on a free transfer to offer backup to young Jordan Pickford. A very capable goalkeeper on reasonable wages who should be happy to sit on the bench for a couple of seasons. Mika meanwhile has left the club for £450k, he joins Portugese side Rio Ave.

A couple of familiar faces return tonight just to try and stabilise the boat a little bit. Didier Ndong replaces Yan M'Vila in the centre of midfield, while Duncan Watmore replaces Joel Campbell on the right hand flank. Giuseppe Rossi takes his place on the bench and could make his debut.

Appalling. Once again we showed absolutely nothing and just caved in against albeit a very good Arsenal side. 3 games, 3 losses, 10 goals conceded, just one scored. We need a win now desperately just to try and get some sort of momentum going. The only silver lining was a first goal for Rossi, who took less than a minute to get himself on the scoresheet after being brought on.

We have put out a really strong team for this one, which is an indicator of just how desperate I am for a win to try and kickstart our season. Rossi gets his first starts, with Campbell and Barkley both involved. Lee Cattermole replaces the disappointing Mendy and Tyrone Mings gets a start at left back.

That will do. Not quite the thrashing I had in mind but a win and a clean sheet is very much appreciated. Dominguez got his first goal for the club in a match we controlled before Giuseppe Rossi got his 2nd goal in as many games to finish things off. Ross Barkley missed a penalty which is a shame, that goal could have given him real confidence, but we move on to the next game!

A real shake up in terms of formation today. Last season we really struggled against teams playing 3 at the back, so I decided to go two up top and give Defoe and Rossi a chance to form an exciting partnership. Cattermole will partner Barkley in midfield while Wabhi Khazri also comes back in to the side.

That is the one we wanted! A really tense match this one but we managed to grab goals in the key moments of the game to kill it off. Giuseppe Rossi did indeed make it three games in a row finding the back of the net and Craig Bryson grabbed his chance off the bench to make an impact and make my selection policy even harder for the next game!

August Review

A really poor start to the year with embarrassing results against West Ham and Arsenal, but the dark clouds are just beginning to part slightly thanks to two wins on the bounce, two clean sheets on the bounce and the form of Giuseppe Rossi.

Table

Its an unbeaten start from the Champions Arsenal who sit at th etop of the pile, while newly promoted Newcastle are flying! Unfortunately for us we sit in the relegation zone, but we have already played City and Arsenal so at least those are out of the way.

Player of the Month

It could only be one man really. 3 goals and an assist in three appearances (one of which was off the bench) is an incredible return for the Italian who is already looking like a great piece of business. Long may his form continue.

September Fixtures

An away game at newly promoted Ipswich gives us the opportunity to create some momentum. Chelsea are not the force they used to be after the transfer window while Leicester and Saints will provide stern competition. A tough month.

Transfers

Some MASSIVE transfers to shock the football world. Thiago and Costa to PSG for a combined £120 mil, Hazard to Real Madrid, Firmino to City, Icardi to United, David Silva to CHelsea, Ousman Dembele from Dortmund to Bayern, Hernandez to Arsenal. Some serious money spent this year.

Good story! But curious who went from Everton when they got relegated? Can't see Lukaku beeing in Championship

Cheers buddy! Barkley, Lukaku, Baines, Funes Mori, Gueye, McCarthy, Lennon, Deulofeu, Oviedo, Galloway and Barry have all left! Quite the clear out!

Mirallas, Coleman, Williams, Bolasie and Cleverley are all still with the club but all unhappy because they didnt get moves. It a very very different Everton side looking at the tactic.

Mexes is probably a good signing for experience, Musonda on loan from Chelsea is a top player, they signed Delph as well for £9 mil who will probably do very well in the Championship as well!

Great story so far!

Thanks!

A change back to our normal formation for this one as I wanted the defensive midfielder to cope with two up font from Ipswich. Mings keeps his place from Van Aanholt due to his early season form and Craig Bryson is rewarded with a start after his goal against Watford.

Another brace for Craig Bryson makes it three wins in a row as we begin to find some of our form from the end of last season. We controlled the game very nicely and created plenty of chances. Giving away the penalty was frustrating but ultimately it didnt matter. Ross Barkley had a great game sat alongside Bryson and claimed his first assist for us.

Two changes a Wabhi Khazri takes Joel Campbells place on the left side of the attack and Nampalys Mendy gets another shot at proving himself in the first team, replacing Lee Cattermole. We must not underestimate this Chelsea side. Losing Hazard and Costa was a big blow but that is still an extremely dangerous line up.

We can count ourselves really unfortunate today. We were by far the better team and created so many chances but both Rossi and Defoe were wasteful and all it took was one lapse of concentration for Pedro to punish us and steal the points for Chelsea.

Plenty of changes today as Van Aanholt, Djilobodji, M'Vila, Lens and Defoe all come in to the side to offer us some rotation. I am really keen to see what Lens can do especially, he has tonnes of potential, can he realise it here?

Angry with this one. With the strength of the side we fielded, this should have been a formality. Instead we were sloppy and complacent, gifting them a goal almost as soon as the game started. M'Vila then went and got himself sent off, showing a complete lack of discipline. Question marks beginning to pop up over Defoe's head. He has now made 7 appearances this season with no goals, no assists and an average rating of 6.4. Not good enough.

Unlucky against both Leeds and Chelsea, judging from the stats both games were pretty close and could have gone either way.. Good luck with your next few games! :)

Thanks! Yeah the Chelsea game I felt we were really good and were unlucky. The Leeds game was slightly different, we didnt do much with the ball, lots of shots from long distance, sloppy mistakes and poor discipline from M'Vila when we needed him to step up. Work ahead, but still quietly confident this side can be quite good :)

Keep it up :)

Good to see my boys Leeds knocking you out! sorry.

Cheers buddy! Revenge will be mine when they get promoted ;)

A much more familiar looking side, for this season at least, as we try to get back to winning ways after two defeats on the bounce to Chelsea and Leeds. Cattermole is back in defensive midfield to try and provide a calming presence while Khazri and Campbell are preferred out wide to try and add more of a goal threat to our play.

A great match and a great win. It was an end to end kind of match, but it became apparent very early on that Mahrez just wasn't going to bother tracking his man back, which left Tyrone Mings with the freedom of the left hand flank and all the time in the world to put crosses in to the box. Each of the forward line grabbed a goal, Khazri from a penalty, Joel Campbell bagging his first for the club and then a classy finish from the on form Rossi to complete the rout. Leicester in trouble.

Unchanged from the side that beat Leicester, however I am expect a much tougher game today at St Marys. Southampton have been brilliant, unbeaten in the league so far with 5 clean sheets from 7 games and the line ups worry me. They are matching us up tactically but looking at it player by player they have so much more quality than we do. Lets see what we can do.

Not at all surprised by this, I just had one of those feelings going in to the match that it wasn't going to happen. Who knows, it may have even been my negative attitude that cost us! Shane Long gave us a torrid time and ran rings around Coates who had a shocker of a match. Consolation? A first goal of the season for Jermain Defoe, hopefully the first of many. A bittersweet day really, as much as I hate losing, my beloved Southampton go top of the league!
