September Review

View attachment 120450
No real complaints as September went as I expected it would, picking up good wins against Ipswich and Leicester and losing out to the better sides. My only disappointment was going out of the cup to Leeds. It was a really poor display and I reckon we could have gone further in that competition.

Saints lead the way as the only team unbeaten in the League while Newcastle's flying start continues, they are almost half way to safety already! Leicester are just looking a little bit lost at the bottom of the table, and its a surprise to see Stoke down there too, early days yet though.

Craig Bryson has kept things ticking over really nicely in midfield, recycling possession, helping Barkley next to him and chipping in with a few goals as well. He is keeping Ndong and M'Vila out of the side, so hats off to him!

Two massive home games that we have to take advantage of against high flying West Brom and Crystal Palace. The away trip to Old Trafford will be a case of if we get anything it will be a bonus!

Just the one change and its an enforced one with Ross Barkley missing out through injury. Didier Ndong takes his place. This Villas-Boas West Brom side look decent and that front three of Rondon, Chadli and Biabiany could be tricky to handle.

While it may look a little disappointing, I dont think this is a bad result at all actually. West Brom have been very good this season and were again today but thankfully Wahbi Khazri scored a blinder for his 2nd of the season to earn us a point. Both goalkeepers were on good form and both teams fluffed several opportunities.

Two changes as Watmore and Defoe replace Campbell and Rossi. Looking at this Palace side, they have plenty of attacking talent but they look a little bit weak in the centre of the park, hopefully we can take advantage of that.

A breathtaking performance from the lads as we smash Crystal Palace. The stats make it look like a much closer game than it was but Wahbi Khazri is in the form of his life! scoring two and assisting Mings for the 3rd, he was unplayable today. A great three points and a much needed result.

Manchester United Vs Sunderland
28th October, 2017.

Team News

Nampalys Mendy comes in for the suspended Lee Cattermole (Picked up 5 yellow cards) and Jermaine Lens is given a chance on the right hand wing in place of Duncan Watmore. No Pogba for United today. Although that is a beastly line up, Herrera and Blind as a central midfield pairing lets the side down slightly, maybe we can exploit?

No. We can't exploit anything. United absolutely splattered us. There were pretty much no redeeming moments in this match, we are just going to have to admit United were too good and move on.

A decent enough month for the club as we pick up a great win against Palace and a hard fought point against West Brom. Starting to get some points on the board now.

Table

Southampton still lead the way, but it is now Newcastle who are catching the eye. What on earth has Rafa Benitez been feeding them over there? Our fans wont be happy about that. Quite a clear divide is now starting to open up between the top half and the bottom half of the table.

3 goals this month for Wahbi Khazri who has had a superb month. He is the catalyst of the side at the moment and is the first name on the team sheet!

A huge month for us coming up. The big derby against Newcastle is going to be ferociously fought with Newcastle carrying all the form and momentum into the tie. Bournemouth at home is similarly a big 6 pointer down at the bottom.

Carl Jenkinson is suspended after picking up 5 yellow cards, meaning, correct me if im wrong, Phil Bardsley makes his first start since being back at the club. Duncan Watmore is also back in to the side, replacing the disappointing Lens.

Once again we failed to really offer anything of any quality. Tottenham were just far too good for us, Harry Kane in particular just ran rings around our defence.

It really does seem harder! this is the problem scrapping for survival every year, you give everything you have to get over the line and then you only have to do it all over again the next season!

Sunderland Vs Newcastle
20th November, 2017.

Team News

Enforced changes as Declan Rudd makes his debut in goal and Papy Djilobodji comes into the heart of defence, with Pickford and Dominguez both out injured. We are handed a massive boost though with the return of Ross Barkley into central midfield, while Giuseppe Rossi reclaims his starting place in attack.

How Newcastle have gotten away with that one, I have no idea. We slaughtered them, and it ended up with Defoe missing a penalty to let them off the hook. Bryson scoring his 5th goal of the season was a particular highlight. It looks like the bragging rights will have to be decided at St James' Park.

Now that is what I call a reaction! We absolutely trashed Bournemouth, seemingly taking out all of our frustration from previous results on them. That man Bryson was there again for his 6th of the season to open the scoring before Khazri got two, Djilobodji got one from a corner and Joel Campbell got his 2nd for the club. That takes a lot of pressure off.

November Review

Another decent month thanks to the Bournemouth result. All we need to be doing is picking up points on a fairly regular basis which I feel like we are doing.

Table
View attachment 120394
How close is that at the top of the table, just 3 points separating the top 6. We are now sat very comfortably in mid table although we are not too far behind the top half of the table. Leicester are now in big trouble surely, Champions in 15/16, playing in the Champions League 16/17, relegated 17/18? the incredible story continues. Just how much time are they going to give Ranieri?

Player of the Month

Anybody that didn't see this coming hasn't even been looking at our results. 3 goals and an assist in his lat 3 games, he is one of our absolutely key players. That £6 million fee we paid for him 18 months ago turned out to be a bargain and probably my best signing of the game.

December fixtures
View attachment 120392
An absolutely jam packed Christmas period and just casting an eye down those fixtures you can instantly see opportunity for points. Norwich and Burnley are teams we should easily be knocking off while Swansea and Stoke have also struggled slightly this season. 12 points from that lot and I would be over the moon!

Sunderland Special

- Rumours are beginning to gather about Sunderland manager Tom Lloyd's future at the club after reports that several high profile European clubs are circling.

- Italian Serie A side AS Roma and German Bundesliga side Schalke are both currently without managers following poor starts to the season and are casting admiring glances towards Lloyd's Sunderland who are once again defying expectation and striding towards Premier League survival.

- Sources inside the Stadium of Light claim that Lloyd is becoming disillusioned at the club, claiming a lack of ambition and lack of interest from the owner.

- Alternative reports are saying that Lloyd is actually extremely happy at the club and will be offered another new deal later in the season when Sunderland are mathematically safe.

- The same report claims that Ellis Short is keen to push on and will offer Lloyd a £50 million war chest nxt season in a bid to keep the talented young manager.

Awesome story so far! would be a nice twist to see you join a nice European club

Loved your Villa story so I'm glad you're back on this years FM.
