He is tons better than N'Gog, if a 4-4-2 was going to get the best out of Torres then surely it would be beneficial to do that.

People need to **** off with the 'anti N'gog' talk, he's great. Better than Torres this season, our top scorer.

In general and comparred to Cole he is poor.[/QU

By any chance are you Carltons *** child?

Nahh, Carlton Cole was found by Chelsea originally, so as a Chelsea fan he's probably holding him in higher regard, even if he hardly made the first team :S But I agree, I don't think he would fit Hodgson's criteria of "we only want the best players to be bought". Mind you, he got Konchesky and Poulsen...

He played Meireles on the right too, so he'd probably turn Cole into a centre back.

Just because he came through the Chelsea ranks dosen't mean i like him more than anyone else. Anyone obviously expcept Liverpool fans can see that Cole could bring the best back in Torres but because he isen't that flair big name you all assume he isen't fit to wear the so called sacred shirt. Absolute joke.

Cole would be a decent signing if the price was right. Hardly an ambitious signing though

Not ambitious but if it brang the best back in Torres surely that would be a good thing nah?

I didn't even say that. We don't want him, if you want him you take him back, accept it WE DON'T WANT HIM, you're the joke, arguementative fool.

By any chance are you abit bias towards N'gog?? Anyone can see what a Carlton Cole/Torres partnership could offer.

Thats true but hes Cole hardly a work horse, he gets very lazy and that not what we need upfront with Torres. Imagen if they both go missing! Sure hes big and strong but I feel he can be easily delt with against bigger sides.

The reason for signing a player should NOT be to bring back someone else's form. If we're spending any more than 5 million from him, and he pays us back by scoring goals, then fair play to him and I'm sure fans would come round. But I'm sure you can try to understand our scepticism, as with Roy's history with transfers, I guess most of our fans are worried he'll be another Konchesky.

I honestly don't know why im putting my point accross. Anyone who dosen't support Liverpool can see this could be a good move for the team especially Torres. And to be honest i don't want the deal to happen because knowone has enjoyed this decline more than me so long may it continue and i think most rival fans will echo this.

Then equally, a big name signing could boost Torres' confidence and could get him firing again

What real big name is going to want to join a declining Liverpool side??? They have to build back up slowly but they want it done over night and its laughable.

If you buy Cole for 10million and Torres ends up scoring 20-30 goals because of this and you manage to ****** a CL spot then surely the signing was worth it no matter how many goals Cole manages to get?

All these people hating on N'Gog need to remember how many goals he has scored this season. Sure he's not the best player but at the end of the day , he will get you goals.
Hull have 99% completed the deal to sign Aaron McClean from Peterborough and is likely to make his debut against Leicester.
Hull are also close to signing Matty Fryatt from Leicester.

Declining Liverpool side? Fair enough, we haven't been in great form of late, but it's gradually returning to us, and what else is to be expected when a team brings in a new manager who has a completely different style of play? Judging by other teams form, a decent string of results from us could easily get us back into contention for Europe. Whether Carlton Cole would help us do that is difficult to tell right now though.

But if that was the case, there's no way of telling that signing Cole was the reason behind Torres' return to form, surely?

It really depends upon how much cash they have, Liverpool are still a massive club, you don't lose that tag overnight. They managed to snare Torres back when others were interested (including Utd and possibly Chelsea I believe). If the money's there then I'm sure that they could attract someone like Dzeko or Horau (although if City's interest is genuine then the former could be more difficult).

You shouldn't go bad mouthing a club in 'decline' when your own club is in worse form. Could come back and really bite you in the ***
