We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, winning by five goals to nil away at Huddersfield. Maxi Gomez was on fire, scoring four. The result was particularly pleasing because Huddersfield always seemed to thrash my team when I was Warrington manager. Revenge is sweet.

14th August

Everton to travel to Bradford in the Carabao Cup 2nd round

I must admit, I was nervous when we went a goal down but the lads responded brilliantly, especially Troy Parrott who put his former club to the sword, scoring twice.

We left it late but we eventually got the winning goals that our performance deserved. Throughout the game, we were the better team so it would have been a travesty had we not won it.

I made a lot of changes to the team for our Carabao Cup game at Bradford, giving some players a chance to shine. However, not many did and we were lucky to go through after going down to ten men.

28th August

Everton to host Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup 3rd round

A very disappointing result coupled with an equally disappointing performance. We never really turned up at Old Trafford and the home side eased to victory. We need a big response after the international break.

We were poor in the first half, but after a rollicking, the lads turned it on for the second half and eased to a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

We weren't really at the races against Fulham but we managed to grind out a good 2-0 win. If you want to win anything in football then you need to win ugly when you're not playing well and that's what we did.

Safely into the next round with a dominant win over Bournemouth. I was tempted to play a changed side but I'm targeting the Carabao Cup as a competition we can win to end the trophy drought.

27th September

Left-back Kingsley Etim is ruled out for 3-4 weeks with a twisted ankle. That's both our left-backs out now!!

Troy Parrott is on fire! A hat-trick for him means he's got seven goals in September! He's looking like a bargain buy atm. His hat-trick helped us to an easy win against Brighton, though we did leave it late to take control of the game.

29th September

Disaster!! Luke Shaw is ruled out for 4-5 weeks with a calf strain

He's a monster! How was he only 30m? Troy Parrott scored another FOUR goals as we absolutely thrashed Stoke at Goodison Park. I almost felt sorry for them at the end.

We had to really work hard for this one. Southampton played very well and tested us throughout the game so I'm delighted that we were able to grind out the win.

An absolutely dominant performance by the lads! I think West Ham will be happy that they kept it down to just three in the end because it could have been double figures.

I was a little worried going into this game as going to Villa Park is never easy but the lads showed me that I shouldn't have been worried. We were fantastic and eased into the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win.

My first Merseyside derby as a manager was a pretty cagey affair. However, with 67 minutes gone who else but Troy 'The Goal Machine' Parrott popped up to score the winner to give us our first derby win for 15 years!

3rd November

Mathias Timmermans out for 3-4 weeks with a calf strain

A fantastic win away at Man City. I didn't think we had a hope of winning but the lads proved me wrong, producing a sensational performance to win by two goals to one.

Unbelievable! We absolutely decimated Chelsea at Goodison Park and that was with Troy Parrott not finding the net for the first time since August. This time it was Maxi Gomez taking the plaudits after scoring a hat-trick.

We roared out the traps, taking a 2-0 lead inside ten minutes, however, after that, we seemed to switch off and Palace had the better of the majority of the game. Thankfully, we defended extremely well and managed to win by the two goals.

I must admit, I did not expect to still be top of the league after this month so to still be top without dropping a point in the month is quite remarkable. Even I'm starting to believe we may be able to win it now!

1st December

We finally lose in the Premier League and it was the most undeserved loss in the history of undeserved losses. They scored with their first shot before being dominated for the 90 minutes, only getting chances when we piled men forward towards the end. The ball would just not go in the net for us!

7th December

Phew! We got out of jail there. We dominated the game but for a long time it didn't look like it was going to be our day. Thankfully, we were rescued by two of our substitutes and secured the win to send us through to the semi-finals.

19th December

Everton to play Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Semi-Final

Very much one way traffic this game. The lads played really well and never looked like they were in any danger of dropping points.

This result was never really in doubt, that is until Newcastle got a penalty with 16 minutes to go. Realistically we should have been out of sight by then but we missed some glorious chances. Thankfully for us, Newcastle missed the penalty and we got the 1-0 win.

Karma is a wonderful thing, especially in football. Ross Barkley, formerly of Everton, celebrated in front of the away fans when he equalised, only for us to go on and get a winner. Have a bit of that you gob*****

1st January

Winger Pietro Simoni joins from Leverkusen for a fee of 5.25m. He'll be rejoining them on loan until the end of the season

Maxi Gomez was on fire as we eased to a 3-0 win away at Stoke, who languish in 19th in the table.

As we were playing a lower league side, I rotated the team quite a bit. What followed was a routine win and a place in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

5th January

Everton to play either West Ham or Derby away in the FA Cup 4th Round

We'll go into the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg needing a win after losing at Old Trafford. Man United probably deserved the result in the end but I'm proud of the way the lads fought to make sure we went back to Goodison Park with a chance of going through.

Relief would be the word I'd use. We absolutely bossed the entire game but we couldn't get the ball in the back of the net for quite a while. Fortunately, Theo Lebrun opened the scoring just after the hour and we eased to a 2-0 win.

Another good win away from home but we really had to work hard to progress to the next round. Thankfully, a goal from Mathias Timmermans gave us the win we needed.

26th January

Everton to play away at Tottenham in the FA Cup 5th Round

Gutted, absolutely gutted. We had enough chances to overturn the first-leg deficit and we didn't take them meaning we're out of the Carabao Cup.

Disappointed to draw but drawing away at a team like Tottenham isn't too bad I guess. Worrying that we drew a blank for the second game in a row.

A great month for us in the Premier League. Our main rivals all dropped points so we now have a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. The pundits are comparing us to that Leicester side that won the title but I firmly believe we'd challenge again if we won it.

February 2026

1st February

I noticed Troy Parrott, Kingsley Etim, Ben White and Mathias Timmermans were all looking a little fatigued so I decided to give them all a two week break. I figured I could spare them for the Huddersfield game and the away game at Burnley isn't until the 21st.

With me sending four players off for a rest, we played a much-changed side against Huddersfield, giving some players a chance to make an impact. Exequiel Avila took that opportunity with both hands, scoring four goals in a 7-3 win. It was also great to see Jim Nixon-Meace come off the bench to score on his debut.

After his exploits against Huddersfield, Exequiel Avila kept his place in the side and he rewarded us with another goal. It was also great to see Troy Parrott and Mathias Timmermans return from their rest with a goal each.

This is an incredible result. When Maxi got sent off in the first minute, I thought we were about to go out of the FA Cup. However, the lads dug deep and managed to come away with a superb win.

This is why you never give up. We looked set for defeat at Arsenal, despite being the better side in the game. That was until Ben White popped up to poke home from a goalmouth scramble in stoppage time. I'll happily take the point.

We came out like a house on fire, scoring in the first minute of the game. From there, we dominated the game, though I was very disappointed that we didn't add to our lead. Three points in the bag are the main thing though.

16th March

Our youth intake came in today but there aren't any players worth mentioning.

Possibly the worst 30-minute spell I've seen since I took over. Chelsea ran riot and e couldn't recover, losing by three goals to one. Extremely disappointing.

19th March

Absolutely delighted to sign a two-year contract extension.

A dominant four-nil win over Palace at Goodison Park but that wasn't the main news from the day. The main news was Southampton beating 2nd place Liverpool at St. Marys! A win at Anfield and we could have one hand on the title.

AN ABSOLUTELY HUGE RESULT. 1st v 2nd, we hadn't won at Anfield since 1999 and a win for them would see them close the gap at the top. What we did though was go to their own back yard and BEAT THEM. The first time this century and what a time to do it!

Really disappointed with this result. We took the lead and looked good but we got complacent and conceded two quick goals. We tried to recover but we weren't able to find a goal to bring us back into the game.

CHAMPIONS! What a way to do it. Man United have been our bogey side since I took over so to beat them by FIVE goals to nil to win the title is a dream come true!

CHAMPIONS OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE. An incredible achievement from everyone. I said that April would be the deciding factor in who won the title and it was. That victory at Anfield was a key result for me as it gave us the confidence that we could win it.

I played a massively rotated team for our away game at Leicester and it backfired. The young team were disappointing and fell to a deserved 2-0 defeat.

Absolutely delighted to win the Manager of the Season award and with us winning the league, I'd argue that it was very much deserved.

I'm disappointed that Troy Parrott didn't win this but you can't really argue with those stats from Liverpool's Mo Salah. An incredible season for him.

I'm amazed that Troy Parrott hasn't won this to be honest but saying that, Isaac Pereira has also been fantastic this season.
