September 2028

So, getting August out the way, I then went off to Chile for a couple of weeks. It was a pretty productive two weeks at that, as we brought home a point from Brazil, before taking all three at home to Venezuela. We'll be examining Chile in full at the end of the World Cup qualifying campaign, but I'll keep you posted in the meantime.

Back on British soil, and we were off to Newcastle for the day. How exciting. In truth, it was a productive trip. We robbed them a touch, with the Mexican Messi scoring two, and Lievens getting the other. What is pleasing is that even when we aren't playing that well, we are still getting points. I want that title this year.

View attachment 179097

Kiev couldn't deal with us either, as we get our title defence under way with a solid 2-0 win. No prizes for guessing who scored both goals.

View attachment 179095

Contreras was at the centre of events against Forest as well, getting yet another two, but it was Sergio Sanchis at the heart of the game, getting a bizarre hattrick. The 5-2 scoreline was probably pretty accurate though, and despite the lack of clean sheet, it's nice to see us scoring so many.

View attachment 179094

A double header with City next, starting with the Capital One Cup. We went behind to an Acevedo goal, but substitute Tello brought us kicking and screaming back into the match, as we knock the Citizens out.

View attachment 179092

The league game was much more boring though. Pretty much all I can write really.

Owwwwwww. That hurts.

I guess the good news is that Barcelona should beat everyone in that group too!! Oh and good lord - those City regens!!!

October 2028

Before I went abroad, I had to deal with a Spurs team that had underperformed of late. They did show a heck of a lot of spirit though, and it took a 92nd minute header from Garce to kill them off. A delightful finish from Gagnon-Lapare was also on the card. The young Canadian has seized his chance with Tello still feeling the after effects of a long summer, and it's nice to see I have options if I want them.

Following this, it was back to my second home in Santiago. My injury hit squad managed to draw 0-0 with Paraguay, before holding on against Bolivia to seal a 2-1 win. What that means is that after 10 games, we are unbeaten, and top of the group. It's been one **** of a turn-around from a few years ago.

Back to league business, and we were off to the Hawthorns. It was a pretty lacklustre display by all accounts, but super sub Lievens scored a 5 minute hattrick to bounce the Baggies out the match. It also keeps us in touch with City at the top.

View attachment 178893

Our travels continued, and a tight game in Austria was decided by a Ferhat goal. We're making a bit of a hash of the champions league this year, hopefully it isn't a sign of things to come.

View attachment 178892

After a poor game though, we finally went back to Sincil Bank to play a desperately poor Liverpool side. There were many critics when Luke Hyam took over the Anfield outfit this summer, and so far the criticism is just. We didn't help them either, as a rollercoaster match ended 4-3 in our favour. Unsurprisingly, Contreras weighed in with yet more goals; the Mexican is fast becoming one of my best signings.

View attachment 178891

QPR came to us against in the Capital One Cup, and again we dispatched them. A pretty routine win that saw us get the chance to play a few youngsters. Ferhat picked up another goal to continue his good run, with "El Lievre" killing it.

Note: "El Lievre", or Contreras, has picked up this nickname through a former FM12 regen of mine, Loris Lelievre. The two players are so incredibly similar, and it would appear my French masterpiece has been born again, albeit as a Mexican. I'll screenshot him in a seperate post.

View attachment 178890

We finished the month with a solid win against a decent Derby side. Without my Croatian loanee, Jerkan, patrolling the midfield, they looked a little flat, and we gladly acquired the points.

November 2028

Back to business at the start of the month, as we crush Salzburg into the floor. No mucking around this time; we clinch the 3 points pretty easily.

View attachment 177814

The Harrogate game was one I'd been looking forward to for a while, but it was not the game I expected. They gave us a really good game til they went down to 10, and then our quality finally shone through. We've shared a good relationship between the clubs in the past, and I would love to see them stay up this year.

View attachment 177813

I was off to Slovenia for my next stop, as we had a friendly to play. The 0-0 was a dull affair, but the 1-0 win over Argentina was beyond my wildest dreams. Not only are we set to qualify, but we may yet finish this top. Would love to send them off with a bang. Meanwhile, England were relegated from the ENL top division. With Lampard's reign in jeopardy, my international management career may yet take an interesting turn in a couple of years.

Back on English soil, and we thump Bournemouth 3-0. They are struggling this year, but we didn't underestimate them, and yet more goals for Contreras in a stunning debut season sealed 3 points for us.

View attachment 177812

We continue the goalfest by hammering 6 past Kiev in Ukraine. A result that sees us through to the next round as well, so the season is picking up pace. Tello the star of the show here, a superb second half hattrick killed the game.

View attachment 177811

Watford were tougher to deal with, and a late Lievens goal did just about enough for us. We didnt play particularly well, but we got a solid away win. A few more of those, and we may yet win the league this season. Still too early to dream though.

View attachment 177810

A win against Barca would have given us top of the group, but a highly entertaining 0-0 draw saw us finish 2nd. Pretty much what I expected though, so I'm not massively disappointed.

Would just like to point out as I didn't in the main post, but this is the most bonkers PL season I've dealt with so far. It's simply brilliant.

This career makes me feel so inadequate Godfish! Great read, great success. Well done indeed!

I was going to agree and say the league looked straight up crazy but then I saw Derby where above Forest and normality was resumed!

Thanks!

My favourite part is absolutely Harrogate in the Premiership. It's probably one of the best things that has have ever happened on one of my FM saves!

December 2028

This was a ridiculously crammed month, with the Club World Championship the main competition taking place. Before that, Southampton. It was very much a game of two halves, as Southampton took an early lead through Slattery. Contreras turned the game on its head in the second half though, and a stunning hattrick earned us all the points. It should have been more, but Ouattara missed from the spot.

View attachment 177100

We were robbed in the next game though, as Villa ditch us out the Capital One Cup in cruel fashion. We destroyed them, even after going down to 10 men, but we screwed it up. We'll have it back next year.

View attachment 177098

The Champions League draw was typically annoying, as our second place finish costs us dearly. Monaco may have won the last 6 Ligue 1's, but PSG are still very much a force to be reckoned with. We'll have to put in some top notch performances to win this.

View attachment 177090

Our trip to the CWC in Canada sees us play home favourites in Toronto FC. It was a poignant moment for Guiseppe Gagnon-Lapare as well, playing at his former stadium against his former team. It was also pretty fitting that he scored the second goal to seal the game. The young Canadian has come on leaps and bounds in his time at Sincil Bank, and is already pushing Tello at RM.

View attachment 177084

The final was much more chaotic, and the first 90 minutes were a goalscoring contest between Luis Felipe and Ferhat Oz. The 3-3 scoreline at full time was fair, so extra time it was. Lievens killed the game off for us though in the added minutes, and the trophy comes back to England with us.

View attachment 177072

Following on from the match, we confirm a new signing for January - Luis Felipe; the hattrick scorer for Corinthians. We'd thrashed out the deal whilst in Canada, and announced it on arriving back home. He'll provide a challenge to Gagnon-Lapare and Tello; Benali will also benefit as it will cover him at CAM.

View attachment 177069

After our trip abroad, we came back to be screwed over by Villa again. Definitely a case of dropped points, as we lose vital ground to City in the title race.

View attachment 177067

Finally back to Sincil Bank after a long time, and we play Chelsea. Following the team parading the CWC trophy around, we proceeded to pull off one of the results of our season so far. Chelsea were completely obliterated as we put 5 past them, in a timely reminder of our credentials.

View attachment 177065

More dropped points again, as champions league chasing Sheff Utd claim a point. It's almost as if we don't want to win the title.

View attachment 177063

We finish the month off with a come from behind win against West Ham. We didn't play that well, but we still get the points. Much needed points given we've dropped a few recently.

View attachment 177061

Table

City retain the upper hand going into the new year. The big teams continue to struggle, with Sheff Utd and Cardiff still hanging on at the top. The relegation spots remain tight as well, with bottom team Harrogate just two points away from safety. Contreras remains top scorer at this stage, while Sakanoko remains high up on the assists chart. We lose him and Ouattara for a month for the AFCON though, so things could get interesting.

January 2029

No rest for the wicked, we go straight into January with a game against Cardiff. They've largely over-performed this season, so we had to be careful. Thankfully Lievens was on hand to bail us out at the end of the game, after we got complacent. It was also our first chance to say congrats to both Tello and Almeida who made the TOTY and the bench respectively.

View attachment 176319

More Welshmen invaded Sincil Bank a few days later, as Swansea were in town for the FA Cup. It was a pretty routine win, and our full strength line up didn't really face any problems.

View attachment 176313

Our third home game in a row say us play Everton. We dominated from start to finish, and the 3-0 scoreline flattered the Merseyside outfit somewhat. Luis Felipe continued his goalscoring form with his first league goal since joining.

View attachment 176312

Forest have been diabolical this season, and nothing really changed as we ran out 2-0 winners at the City Ground. Both strikers picked up goals as we continued our unbeaten month.

View attachment 176311

Newcastle posed us a lot of problems. Not least because they took an early lead. Super sub Ferhat killed them off though, as his late, late winner gave us the win we richly deserved.

View attachment 176309

Another game, another late goal for Ferhat. This time though, we were comfortable victors over a decent Spurs team. It took us a while to score, but once Contreras opened the scoring, we never looked back, and killed the game off.

View attachment 176310

The fourth round of the cup sent us to Cambridge for a TV game and a potential banana skin. Thankfully, no such slip ups, as a near first XI controlled the game throughout, and saw us safely through to the next round. I'm disappointed it wasn't more though, their keeper played a blinder.

View attachment 176308

We finished the month with my favourite result of the lot, a 4-1 crushing of Utd at Sincil Bank. Contreras and Lievens were in imperious form as we ran riot, making the teams of Ferguson look such a long, long time ago. Ronaldo has done ok with United, but he was no match today for his former team.

View attachment 176307

That means that it has become a two horse race for the title this season. City and Lincoln have left the rest behind, with a massive 20 point gap. Meanwhile, Sheff Utd hang on in there to Champions League. At the other end, it's one of the best relegation zone battles in recent memory, as I have no idea who may finally go down this year.

View attachment 176306

February 2029

Time for the business end of things then, as we make a push towards the finals in May. We start with a table topping clash at the Etihad; a game in which we come out of with a point. A Garce late goal was enough for a point, and keeping us both in the charge.

View attachment 175286

The big games just kept coming, as PSG travelled to the Bank. They left with nothing though, as we held our nerve to win 2-0. Our aggressive attacking display caught the French team off-guard, and we took advantage to take a significant lead in the tie.

View attachment 175285

Old Trafford saw us play United in the FA Cup, and force a replay after a reasonably tight match. The 90th min goal was a sucker punch, and we do it all again at Sincil Bank in a short while.

View attachment 175284

Next up though was a disappointing win with Arsenal. We were incredibly poor, but somehow escaped with the points. They all count.

View attachment 175283

Even more disappointing was the defeat to WBA. We dominated, but they parked the bus well. It's pretty frustrating, but City also slip up so our blushes are spared somewhat.

View attachment 175282

We finally go top 90 mins later though, as Liverpool crumbled to a defeat after a strong display. The under-performing Anfield outfit played well, but we countered well and grabbed all the points.

View attachment 175281

That means at the end of the month, we sit just above City. There's just a point in it though, so we're in for a rough three months yet. The table is shaping up nicely though, with tight battles right across the board. Best season ever.

March 2029

We continue to push for silverware with our rematch against United; a game that we finally killed off in extra time. We were on top for large parts of the game, but it took that extra 30 minutes to finally win it.

View attachment 175257

We also had our academy intake as well, and the most promising is a LW by the name of Josh Davies. The lad has some serious talent, and we'll look forward to seeing him come through the team.

View attachment 175256

View attachment 175255

The second leg of our CL game beckoned in Paris, and whilst we lost the battle, we won the war. It was an open match, as PSG pushed us, but Lievens and Contreras did the business for us. We face Schalke in the next round.

View attachment 175253

Next up, Stoke in the FA Cup. We won it pretty comfortably over the championship side, and there was a debut appearance for Davies to boot. All in all, it was a pretty pleasing performance.

View attachment 175249

We finally get back to the league campaign with an away trip to Harrogate. It was a tough match, and we struggled to break them down, but perseverance prevailed, and we took all 3 points home from Yorkshire.

View attachment 175248

Lastly for the month, we face a resurgent Watford side. The game had potential to cause us some significant problems, but goals from my two right wingers, coupled with a clean sheet, kept us top of the league going to April.

View attachment 175247

30 played each, 3 points in it. This is going to be a tight title chase for us. Meanwhile at the bottom, Harrogate just start to drift ever so slightly away.

View attachment 175246

Lincoln will return Sunday evening with the entertaining conclusion to this seasons campaign.

April 2029

I'm back! Much, much later than I would have liked, but I'm back all the same. No matter, time to address what is one of the more competitive seasons I've dealt with.

We start away at Derby, where despite our best efforts, we couldn't get through them. We shaded the match, but a goalless draw was still enough to leave us seated at the top.

View attachment 171440

We found Southampton to be just as resilient, but we did finally score a goal this month. Lievens and Tello finally killed off the match as we picked up a vital three points in this tense title race.

View attachment 171439

A trip to Germany was up next, as we went to play Schalke. We did fail to score, a problem so far for us this month, but we keep our third clean sheet in a row to leave the tie finely balanced going into the second leg next week.

View attachment 171432

We dispensed with the tight nature of play on the south coast though, as a rip-roaring game saw us steal the points in the 89th minute. Lievens was key with another hattrick, and has stepped up in the absence of the injured Contreras. There was also a pleasing debut for young keeper Hampson, as Sands was rested ahead of our CL clash.

View attachment 171426

My biggest fear ahead of the second leg was the lack of Contreras. As it turned out, my fears were unwarranted. Lievens and Ferhat stepped up admirably to power us to a 3-0 victory, in what is becoming part of a memorable European history at the soon departing Sincil Bank.

View attachment 171417

Meanwhile, during this record breaking season, another falls; this time with Chile:

View attachment 171415

Meanwhile, in the Champions League...

View attachment 171412

It's going to be a rough match up for us. I mean it could be worse, it could have been Real or Monaco, but Juve have a fearsome team these days, and dominate Italian football.

A pretty easy FA Cup semi final for us, as we tore Norwich apart. Granted, we only scored 2, but we were never in any trouble. City in the final for us.

View attachment 171405

Our away day successes continued at Old Trafford, where we roundly spanked the Red Devils. Whilst there was a pleasing goalscoring return for Contreras, it was Luis Felipe and Seydou Sakanoko that ran the show, both scoring as we put four through the net.

View attachment 171397

We then dispatched another of the so-called "Big 5", as Arsenal came to play, and went home with nothing. There were more goals for Ferhat and Lievens, whilst Felipe scored yet again from the right.

View attachment 171394

Three games left, and no let up in pressure. This season is going to go to the wire it would seem, with any mistake likely to be fatal at this stage.
