Personally I just listen to him because... his addictive :S
I don't regard him as rap. That would be Eminem.

Rather reminds of me of a music awards thingy in America I was watching on TV sometime last year. That stupid woman Taylor Swift was singing, and then introduced Stevie Nicks (of Fleetwood Mac fame, of course) on to sing a duet.

Nicks was such a better singer it was nearly embarrassing. In fact, I would say it was. Most singers nowadays just can't hold a candle to the ones before them (not through a lack of talent, but because the bar for being successful in the music industry has been lowered). Hence why I always cringe when people call the likes of Lady Gaga a good singer. NO. Annie Lennox is a good singer. Lady Gaga is not.

I reckon it's because in ye olde times, making an album (or LP, or single, whatever) was expensive stuff. Therefore, you had to have some talent to be able to snag a deal with a record company and get it produced; in other words, someone other than yourself had to think it was good. Nowadays any two-bit numpty from Peckham can record his very own album with nothing more than a microphone, a computer and a writable CD.

Exactly. Before you got into the industry based on talent, because they didn't have anything else to sell. Now with the invention of auto tune etc. the industry is far more interested in how they can sell you, rather than your talent.

Or B.I.G or Tupac or Eazy-E or Rakim or Nas or Big Pun or Big L or Dr Dre.

No offence but it annoys me when as soon as someone mentions rap somebody says Eminem , they're are/were alot better rappers then Em out there IMO.He is talented obviously but as good as Pac or BIG? I think not.
Sorry for going on abit of a rant. :)

Before, being good-looking was a big bonus. Now, it is a necessity. That's another thing that gets my goat.

Why are all the GOOD rappers dead? Biggie dead, Tupac dead. Vanilla Ice? Still alive...

Hmm, and how would you rate Eminem's rapping if he was dead?

The same as now.

- I did not mean to go out and just write a list of dead rappers , they're just who I think are better rappers than Eminem.

Because there's none alive right now. :)

I like him, he's something different, and I tend to dislike commercialised rap.

And a good alive rapper, Zach De La Rocha? anyone?

not my kind of music, isnt it rap or something like that? i'll stick to my alter bridge thanks

Exactly , that is why everybody hypes him up so much.

Some of the emotion he puts into his songs is phenomenal though, just because no one else is on his level shouldn't be used against him. The thing is, he actually has the intelligence to write his own music, rather than read what someone else puts in front of you, so it comes from the heart.

How can you even mention those two in the same breath?

Indeed.

OT - Love Tinie Tempah's music. Lot of catchy beats, and bass-orrific sound
