The start of the season
Tottenham who have strengthened over the summer and have also claimed an impressive scalp in Manchester City who they recently beat in the community shield, will be itching for the season to start. With no pre-season friendleys and with the focus on fitness and stamina this summer the players will be raring to go and face off against the other teams.
Tottenham will start off their European campaign this season within the Europa League. They will hope to fair better than they did last season where they played in the Champions League but were unfortunately knocked out in the first knockout round against Real Madrid. Tottenham will be favourites to reach the latter stages of this competition though and could even cause and upset as many feel they could perhaps be the dark horses in this years competition and maybe even win it.

Bernard Mendy (42)
Tom Cleverley (57)
Kyle Walker
Not the best start Tottenham would have wanted in their Premier league opener but at least they claimed their first points of the season. They played a strong robust Newcastle side who stayed up last season and stayed up comfortably. Alan smith marshalled the Newcastle midfield and created very little space for the Tottenham men to start a progressive passing game. Bernard Mendy scored from a Kevin Nolan corner just before half time. Tom Cleverley who has really shone at Tottenham scored the equaliser skipping past his marker and powering a shot past the helpless defence and goalkeeper and into the net.

An astonishing match which saw twelve goals and thouroughly entertained both sections of the crowd within the Konwiktorska stadium. Polonia fans were happy to see their side score four goals and both Daniel Maka and Daniel Golebiewski will be hailed as heroes scoring two each. Fans of Polonia will not be too disheartened with the thrashing as they know realistically they wouldn't be going to far in this competition. Martin Jol will be livid with his defence and exstatic with his strikeforce. Crouch banging in an amazing five goals. With this tie all but over it remains to be seen just how many goals can Tottenham score on aggregate.

Ibrahim Afellay (30)
Ibrahim Afellay (54)
Jermain Defoe (59)

Tottenham boss Martin Jol does seem to have a good eye in the Transfer market. Ibrahim Afellay who was bought to the club last year from PSV has certainly impressed. In this match he proved his worth to the team by scoring a stunning hattrick which will delight the fans, his manager but most importantly himself. His second goal being his best scoring from a Yoann Gourcuff through ball in which Afellay smashed home from all of about 30 yards out.

In particular fashion Tottenham closed the door firmly on Polonia's European adventure. Javier Hernandez producing the kind of form the Spurs fans our accustomed too. Young Harry Kane is also impressing in the matches he's been playing in. The youngster who is being tutored by team mate Jermain Defoe has been tipped to have a very bright future at the club.

Tottenham again will need to thank their strikeforce rather than their defence. With too many goals being leaked it seems like this season may be a repeat of the previos one. Too many goals have been leaked and with Joe Hart under heavy surveilance the fans have been calling for Jol to bring in a new keeper. Axel Witsel made a claim for a starting birth in the squad as he scored two goals and earned himself the man of the match award.
