Liverpool FC: David Ngog can go – but only for £8m - News - Liverpool FC - Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL have slapped an £8million price tag on striker David Ngog.
The Reds are prepared to sell the 22-year-old Frenchman who is keen to secure regular first team football.
There have been a number of enquiries from clubs across Europe, including Newcastle United, but there have so far been no bids matching Liverpool’s valuation.
Ngog has scored 19 goals in 94 appearances for the Reds since his £1.5million move from Paris St Germain three years ago.

The former France Under-21 international made 18 starts and a further 20 substitute appearances this season but his chances were severely limited following the Reds’ £57.8million swoop for strikers Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll in January.
Ngog was handed just two starts under Kenny Dalglish – both in the Europa League, and five of his eight goals this term came in Europe.
A fee of £8million would represent a big return on Liverpool’s investment but they believe it’s a fair amount for developing Ngog from an unknown rookie into a relatively experienced top flight frontman.
As well as listening to offers for Ngog, Liverpool are set to step up their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Stewart Downing after he shelved contract talks.
The England winger has said he is at “a major crossroads” in his career and has no interest in discussing a new deal with Villa.
Meanwhile, Reds transfer target Charlie Adam admits he’s desperate to stay in the Premier League – but the midfielder insists his fate lies in Blackpool’s hands.
The Reds had an £8million bid rejected for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window and Kenny Dalglish is set to make another approach this summer.
“My future is that I want to play in the Premier League,” Adam said.
“I want to play at the top and hopefully the opportunity comes.
“At the end of the day, my future will get sorted one way or another. It’s not me who makes that decision.
“The club will make the decisions about what it wants to do. It isn’t down to Charlie Adam. I have got a year left on my contract so we will see what happens.”
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway recently warned it will take a bumper bid – in excess of the £8million offered by the Reds in January - to convince them to sell the former Rangers midfielder.
“If people don’t pay us the right respect and don’t pay us the right amount of money, Charlie won’t be going anywhere,” he warned.
Newcastle mean- while, have not given up hope of convincing Jose Enrique to stay at St James’ Park.
The Spanish left-back, who has attracted interest from Liverpool, will sit down for talks over a new deal next week.
Enrique has a year remaining on his current contract.

Why are Arsenal being linked to such average players? Wenger will only spend big on the most talented, or potentially talented players.
