Yeah, I've heard HOI4 is meant to be awesome but generally I'm just more of a TW fan. We'll see though, I might buy HOI4 when it eventually comes down in price.

I've played a bit of Stellaris but work got a bit crazy after I bought it and I haven't really touched it since (I really should). Apart from that the only other Paradox game I've played is Cities: Skylines, which I absolutely love.

Yeah I cannot get into Stellaris, to many issues and I am waiting on the next patch which hopefully they release a slew of mid game content, mid game needs fixing before I can commit but I really want them to fix it. Yeah I hammered skylines when it came out not touched it in so long. But its EU4 which is my go to game, I do some of the hardest challenges Subtle regularly gets pictures of my ****** up map painting ha

See that's the only thing putting me off playing Stellaris. Which is why I'm not particularly bothered about it at the moment. As for Skylines, that's definitely my 'go to' Paradox title. I f**king love that game, you should get back into it mate. I can't say I've ever played EU4 but I've spent countless hours straining my eyes playing Rome II. Although at the moment I'm addicted to p***ing about in Rust.

I should but Communist Brazil is not going to conquer the world itself

Also yeah, I too can't get into TW anymore. I was a fanatic TW hen they first shown up, but after playing maniacally a bunch of them, it just gets repetitive. Maybe I'll get into TW again if they ever make an I that doesn't need 3 times as big army to threaten me.

Anyhoo, I've been playing Offworld Trading Company quite a bit. It's a really inventive game. It's sort of like if Starcraft was an economic strategy, I've been playing strategy games for 25 years and never seen anything quite like it. Very cool. I can't see myself playing it for years, mind, but average session takes like an hour so it's fun to have this game around if you have little time to play.

So I have played Hearts of Iron 4 for 26 hours since Monday night its consisted of one abysmal France playthrough and 3 Italy playthroughs, 2 failed, 1 failure was just not knowing what the actual **** was going on, the 2nd failure was a pretty epic fail, basically you get points to redesign divisions through combat, I used my points to make what I thought was going to be my new light tank brigades but turns out I was actually redesigning my infantry brigades to become light tank brigades and my economy could not handle making 33,000 light tanks for some reason by time I realised was too late the salt was real!!

Anyway third playthrough and I am finally at ease with the game, wrapped my head around most things and I have to say it is an absolute joy to play. You have the option to take off historical focuses so I did, from 1936-9 things went normal enough barring Japan not joining the Axis. As Italy I formed my own faction and it was basically and the Balkans with Spain and Portugal. Then the curveball happened, Germany and Soviets did the usual Molotov-Ribbentrop pact but rather than divide up Poland they went to War with one another in 1939, so being the megalomaniac I am I declared on Germany with my new found Mediteranean alliance.

This game is a winner, so much has been streamlined but it is most definitely for the better, gone is the micro intensive clickfest that was number 3, small portion of the fanbase is severely butthurt because you cannot make the exact German order of battle but who gives a fly ****? The industry is great, balancing lines to produce equipment, Battle planner is fun but you stil have to micro it at times. The game also looks great too, not without issues, AI can do some ridiculous things but then it can also do some stupendous things and leaves you gobsmacked.

few patches in and a DLC or two this game will be the best of its kind if it is not already, just a shame some people cannot differentiate the difference between micro and strategy. Anyway I have a German Reich to pillage ;)

Would gaming companies please stop playing with my emotions. I'm sitting here all set to FINALLY buy Overwatch. Then I see Hearts of Iron 4, and it looks dam good. And it's extremely appealing, as I love the history of World War II (along with history of the Roman Empire and Medieval era) and the gameplay etc sounds very solid (though not 100% accurate-but if it's fun so what?) and I love strategy games (first ever was NATO Commander on the Apple 2-who wouldn't love a game where you get to nuke anything you want with Pershing theatre nuclear weapons and nerve gas Warsaw Pact forces) as they really make for some enjoyable gaming.

So now, once again I find myself at an impasse. So stop doing this to me for the love of god :'(

Went for Overwatch: Origins. Good value for $ as I also play Starcraft, HoTS and the RNG clown fiesta **** that is Hearthstone so the Diablo wings, cardback etc make it good value. I'll be cancelling Sky TV next month so I'll be able to get HOI next, then Stellaris when it's sorted out

Tbh probably the best move, AI is a bit off so once the community has fedback to Paradox it will be a lot better, its mainly how the AI prioritises fronts. Although in my game it hasn't been too bad, I have seen some clusterfucks like the Soviets totally abandoning the german front to garrison Hungary and the Balkans. Also mods will be well under way by then too! But it is glorious

E3 started, anybody watching? Looks like MS finally decided to double down on PC gaming, they've announced Forza Horizon on PC. Pumped.

And now they're showing bunch of **** games for 20 minutes. Meh.

Not seen much apart from Battlefield 1 and that Bethesda are remastering Skyrim for PS4 (just why?) Which is also going to retail at full ps4 game price which is ludricous

Yeah remastered Skyrim is pointless, I guess can see the appeal for consoles though since they can't just load mods.

Anyhow lot's of boredom from MS so far, but most of the big titles will be hitting Windows 10, which is a nice change. Still pumped for Horizon 3 on PC though, first game on 360 was one of my favorite racers ever. Such a laid back game, just jump into the car and enjoy the ride.

Was never a fan tbh, seen on Facebook that Gears is coming to PC too. Rarely play these types of titles on my desktop but not played Gears since I switched to PS4 so may well pick that up.

I don't normally like racers, but Horizon was just special. Jump in the car, ride into the sunset with no pressure, with a great soundtrack to boot. I like to say it's a driving game, as opposed to racing game.

Anyhow nothing special from MS really. Other than Forza I liked some pirate MMO they announced, not my kind of game but it looked fun. Maybe I'm getting too old for all those flashy blockbuster shooters, nothing captured my attention...

Probably biggest news is that they are launching new console next year, compatible with Xbone but with much improved hardware. But with most of their games coming up on PC, it's becoming more and more pointless to even own a console tbh.

I am now moist.

Well MS may be moving to PC but until say Naughty Dog et al do its I'll be keeping the PS4, The Last of Us is one of my all time favourites in that genre and would quite like a sequel. But tbh not used my PS4 all that much I would go as far to say I have probably used it more to watch Blu-Rays than game. But thing is for AAA games it saves me about 30-40gb download bandwidth per month when I buy a top title.

I have seen that they have announced the new console, PS4 Neo is also in the works. Think Sony conference is tomorrow? want to see what they have up their sleeve
