Yeah me and Subtle been saying the same thing for years then you get some formites on here who think that the game is still the second coming of jesus. But you have touched on my main issue, my "hardcore strategist button" I get itched elsewhere now. I mean right now its hearts of iron but my go to game for the last 2 years has been Europa Universalis 4, when I can take Theodoro from one province minor to the biggest power in the world and it requires multiple restarts and shitloads of luck and skill FM just doesn't hold the same appeal at all.
Yeah, I don't know if this is down to playing FM for so many years, but I'm basically playing it on autopilot. The only interesting part is first 2 months and first transfer window, assessing your team, who to sell, who to buy, figuring out tactics, I still need to wrap my head around these things.
But after that it's just....meh. Make two tactics, one for **** teams, one for good teams, have a solid backup for every position, play weaker team in cups, you're just doing the same **** all over again and making decisions on autopilot. There's barely any strategy and thinking involved during the season, I don't even bother reading opposition reports anymore. I really wish FM was a hardcore tactical game where you analyse the opposition, find their weakspots and take time to prepare for every game, but it's just not.
Yeah, it's really been a year of strategy games. I can't even wrap my head around stuff that's already out, and there's also Civ 6 is coming soonish and looking quite good.

I call this one Operation Freedom, now the hard part is there enough time for world conquest
is there a set time b4 the game ends or can you play till the end of timeI need to remember not to learn the game by playing my first save with Poland. Did that mistake with HoI3, and it took me like 2 months and 40 attempts before I finally managed not to get sandwiched between USRR and ze Germans.

using mods how far can you goThe game officially ends in 1948, but its easily modded
Ha, not tried Poland yet but considering I have taken the US as Brazil I don't need to worry too much. I am actually trying to figure the logistics of getting my men to Europe. Got to fight the Royal Navy and not sure if I can build up in time. Really enjoying this playthrough though.
Poland is supposed to be a pretty decent playthrough becuase they have their own focus tree. They are on my todo list, just need some mods to hurry the **** up and paradox to keep optimising

might get it as i loved rome total war but not that it got to a set date and it ended unlike barb invation so if mods do come out where that let you play after 48 and unlock or the modern stuff as time goes on will have to give it a lookI am not 100 percent but I think you could just put the year 3000 and play to your hearts content. Might make your processor pull a hernia though calculating all that industrial capacity. You have to remember that the game tick is an hour so its a **** of a lot of ticks. Going by how much Paradox has borrowed from the cancelled game East vs West though I think there may well be a DLC for the Korean war that ended in the 50s because the Mod team behind EvW had all that planned out and I could be wrong but the IP will belong to Paradox so dont be surprised if the timeline gets extended. If you end up picking it up and get stuck gimme a PM or add me on steam I am online Faaaaaaar too much lately

Coming out alive with 1936 start was tough as ****. You just didn't have enough time to turn the ship around. Your industrial base is way behind, and half of the army you start with consists of cavalry. They never get that part historically accurate too, cavalry was our elite units, they just traveled on horses but fought on foot, carried around a lot artillery, it was poor man's mobile infantry basically. But in HoI they're ****.
You have 3 years and then two biggest land armies in the world ******** on you, and they attack at the same time since Molotov-Ribbentrop pact is a scripted event. I finally beat it, but I was close to smashing my PC with a hammer several times.
Passing on the Steam sale. I've been shamed by the number of unplayed games in my library that I've bought.
