What Roles and Duties Best suit my players?

Okay, playing as Hull City in the second season of the championship after I lost on penalties in the play-off final. As with last season I'm struggling to score goals, I have 5 strikers who each notched around 5-10 goals in about 40 apps last season, I relied on Tom Cairney and Craig Fagan to do most of the scoring. These are my strikers and a screen of each one, why do they not score in my formation?

I'm aware they haven't played many games yet but they usually get really poor ratings of 6.0 on average roughly. The one up top usually plays as either an ADVF or Poacher
 
Thomas Muller - Complete Forward (he does not have the best of tech stats, but his mental and physical stats are pretty impressive)
 
what role should i play defoe with a formation like:

Gomes

Hutton gallas dawson BAE

Huddlestone

VDV Modric

Lennon Bale

Defoe
 
Mladen Petric, Song-Huen Ming (sp), Jose Gurerro and Van Nisterelrooy..
Where should all of them play?

Poacher of course. Only thing for him because he's vertically challenged.

playing with 2 up front.. him with welliton who plays as a poacher

Posistioned both upfront, in a 4 - 4 - 2 formation.
 
I am currently using Rooney (Deep Lying Support) and Neymar (Poacher) as a partnership.
Still, Rooney can be inconsistent and he hasnt managed to unlearn "Shoots from distance" no matter how many times i have asked him to.

Should i keep him in his current role and just set long shots to mixed?
