BLUEBIRDS SIGN WONDERKIDS

View attachment 133401
Cardiff City have splashed the cash this January, spending a combined fee of £17.5m on two youngsters

The first and most expensive was Brazilian winger, Roniere Felix, who has joined the Bluebirds from Esporte Clube Bahia for £11m

Felix, 19, can play on the wing, up front or just behind the striker, but has been deployed primarily as a winger throughout his career, which has seen him make 56 appearances for Bahia, scoring 9 goals and bagging 13 assists

He is also a regular in the Brazilian youth teams, having made 17 appearances for the Under 20 side, scoring 9 goals
View attachment 133399

The second to join was 16 year old goalkeeper Mert Basaran, who has joined from Bayern Munich for£6.5m

Basaran, who is eligible for both Germany and Turkey, was held in high regard by the youth staff at the Allianz Arena, with many of them angered by the club's decision to sell such a hot prospect

Bayern Munich to Cardiff City has become something of a well-trodden path for German youngsters in recent years, with Basaran following Gunther Tausendpfund and Max Block to the Cardiff City Stadium

We've been doing incredible well recently and need to keep that up as we enter 2025

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

View attachment 133387
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez (Grant 61), Green, Oliver (Pritchard 71), Angerschmid (P.Boyle 85), G.Boyle

A confident away performance against a toke side bogged down in European football and thus suffering. Green and Boyle got on the score sheet to give us the 2 goal win, but it should have been more

FA CUP THIRD ROUND
Cardiff City 6-0 Sunderland

A Sunderland side marooned in the relegation zone of League 1 showed up to the Cardiff City Stadium today and it showed. An early brace from Marco Angerschmid set the tone for the match as Greig Boyle filled his boots against a hapless Sunderland defence (Their left-back had a Match Rating of 4.6)

LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL FIRST LEG
Manchester United 2-3 Cardiff City
View attachment 133384
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 77), Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 77), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

Smash and grab! We produced the kind of performance that we see against us week in and week out and somehow stole a victory from the clutches of defeat at Old Trafford! With the scores level at 2-2, Welsh wonder Mitchell Grant produced an unlikely goal to give us the advantage going into the Second Leg

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Derby County 1-2 Cardiff City

View attachment 133382
Meret, Krejci (Grant 45), Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa (Carlos 45), Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 75), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

An injury to our left back and a lack of options on the bench saw us deploy a strange 3-5-2 and go from a clinical, ruthless Cardiff City to the toothless City of old, unable to put our chances away, fortunately a certain Scotsman put a stop to all of that nonsense and bagged us all three points

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 1-2 Leicester City

View attachment 133381
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 84), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

I have no idea what happened here. We just couldn't score and two worldies from Callum Wilson confined us to defeat. Andre Green tried to spark a comeback but it just wasn't to be as we effectively hand the title to United

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-4 Cardiff City

View attachment 133380
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 75), Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 37)

That's more like it! 3-0 up within 20 minutes is a favoured score of mine and we were cruising until, suddenly, disaster struck as Greig Boyle was forced off through injury. Fortunately his replacement, Jose Carlos, is an adequate one and he proved it by bagging our fourth, killing all of Wolves' hopes of a comeback

LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL SECOND LEG
Cardiff City 3-0 Manchester United

Cardiff win 6-2 on aggregate
View attachment 133379
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 84), Martinez, Green (Ramsey 54), Oliver (Pritchard 84), Angerschmid, Carlos

To be honest, I was worried before this game due to the absence of our talisman Greig Boyle, but I really shouldn't have! We were excellent and Jose Carlos proved a more than adequate replacement for Boyle, scoring a goal as well as producing a good performance, helping us through into the final of the League Cup for the first time in 13 years

We are still in every competition so games are coming thick and fast, can our squad take it?

FA CUP FOURTH ROUND
Middlesbrough 0-4 Cardiff City
View attachment 133328
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 59), Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 59)

A big win on Teeside puts us through into the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, it was yet another dominant display as we display our confidence

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Watford 0-1 Cardiff City
View attachment 133322
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 66), Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 66)

We dominated Watford but it looked like we were going to be leaving Vicarage Road with a draw until supersub Jose Carlos popped up with the winner having replaced an uncharacteristically profligate Greig Boyle

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 3-1 Manchester United

View attachment 133321
Meret, Krejci, Jair (Grant 86), Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green (Felgate 61), Oliver (Pritchard 45), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

United came and saw, but it was Cardiff who conquered. We dominated United from start to finish and managed to take a 3 goal lead against the runaway leaders before Yusuke Nakagawa sent our stomach butterflies into overdrive by giving them a way back into the match by conceding a penalty

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 2-0 Southampton

View attachment 133320
Meret, Krejci, Jair (Gunter 83), Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green (Ramsey 83), Pritchard, Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 70)

We nullified Southampton and attacked with vigour, battering the Saints as we ran riot. Marco Angerschmid's two goals in 5 minutes were all important as they provided the lead and then a sucker punch as we doubled our lead soon after taking it. The only negative was that Greig Boyle was forced off through injury in the 70th minute

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Liverpool 0-1 Cardiff City
View attachment 133319
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Felix 63), Angerschmid (Gunter 82), Carlos (Block 63)

The lack of Greig Boyle was evident today as we struggled to put the ball in the net. We lacked a focal point going forward and it took one of our midfielders to break the deadlock and to get us all three points

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND FIRST LEG
Sparta Prague 0-1 Cardiff City
View attachment 133317
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 76), Angerschmid, Carlos

A frustrating night in Prague reminiscent of the match against Liverpool where we failed to put the ball in the net despite a huge amount of chances. David Brown had to bail us out, much like against Liverpool, he had the coolest head in the stadium and slotted home a late penalty to grab an all important away goal

FA CUP FIFTH ROUND
Derby County 0-5 Cardiff City

View attachment 133316
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa (Thompson 61), Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 61), Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 85)

A routine victory over Derby was in store today, or so it seemed, until Casemiro earned himself an early bath, opening the floodgates as he trudged off the pitch. Greig Boyle was very happy with this and bagged 4 goals on his return from injury before being forced off through... injury

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 2-1 Arsenal
View attachment 133315
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green (Block 67), Oliver, Angerschmid, Carlos (Felix 60)

A strong performance led to three points against Arsenal. We took the lead through Marco Angerschmid and doubled it shortly after half-time. Kevin Volland grabbed one back for Arsenal almost immediately after our second with an absolute piledriver but fortunately we held on for a deserved three points

The League Cup final, a Champions League game and an FA Cup Sixth Round tie

LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Leeds United 1-2 Cardiff City
View attachment 132870
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 72), Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 59), Angerschmid, Block

A dominant performance that was threatened to be derailed by a penalty and one of they few shots on target. Fortunately our quality shined through as Alex Meret's penalty save gave us the lift we needed to go on to win the match, with Max Block bagging a brace to win us the League Cup

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Chelsea 0-2 Cardiff City
View attachment 132869
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver, Angerschmid, Carlos (Block 54)

Another dominant display that was threatened to be derailed, this time by one of our own players. Jose Carlos missed chance after chance, spurning opportunities which would have made the 2-0 scoreline a far more comfortable 4 or 5 goal victory, fortunately we got through it, with Andre Green, the man who normally supplies the goals, bagging a brace to win the game

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND SECOND LEG
Cardiff City 3-0 Sparta Prague
Cardiff win 4-0 on aggregate

View attachment 132868
Meret, Koulopoulos, Jair, Tausendpfund, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 64), Martinez (Oliver 64), P.Boyle, Pritchard, Angerschmid, Carlos

A slightly rotated side smashed Sparta Prague, with Jose Carlos recovering from his previous performance to bag a brace, only to spurn a glorious opportunity to grab his hat trick by missing a penalty!

FA CUP SIXTH ROUND
Cardiff City 2-1 Leeds United

View attachment 132865
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 69), Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 69), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

A reamtch of the League Cup final ended in the exact same result as we beat Leeds 2-1. Greig Boyle returned to the first 11 today and celebrated his return from injury with a brace to beat Leeds. Leeds scored their only shot on target to set up a tense finish but we're through and could win a second FA Cup in a row

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Burnley 0-3 Cardiff City
View attachment 132864
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Thompson, Brown (Grant 74), Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 74), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

A comprehensive victory over Burnley which was wrapped up before half-time with a brace from Angerschmid and a goal from Boyle, which at time seems like an inevitability

A tight match without much action where a moment of brilliance divided two very even signs. Our team is very young for international standards (The oldest starting player was 26) and these games help them grow as experienced internationals, Lee Roberts and Jamie Parry both made their debuts today

WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS GROUP 10

Morris, Pugh, Giggs (Barlow 68), D.Bellamy, Thompson, Felgate, Grant, Cook, C.Bellamy, G.Williams (Parry 60), T.Roberts

A solid, if unconvincing beginning to our qualification campaign as we beat Finland 3-1. They started brightly and took the lead but we responded quickly, taking a 2-1 lead before half-time, before doubling our advantage shortly after the break with Tyler Roberts' 32nd goal for Wales

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 3-0 Nottingham Forest

View attachment 132657
Meret, Krejci (Gunter 75), Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Felgate 75), Grant, Green, Oliver (Ramsey 67), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

A dominant performance in the absence of key playmaker Alfredo Martinez. We limited Forest to 1 shot and ran riot at their end, with even Aaron Ramsey bagging himself a goal!

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 2-1 Leeds United
View attachment 132655
Meret, Krejci (Gunter 90), Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Felgate 90), Grant, Green, Oliver (Ramsey 67), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

Another game against Leeds, another 2-1 victory! We fell behind early on but rallied and went in 2-1 up at half-time and never looked back as we held on for another vital three points

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 4-1 West Ham United

View attachment 132653
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa (Gunter 68), Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Ramsey 68), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

A first half hat-trick from Greig Boyle coupled with a goal from Oliver saw us go in 4-0 up at half-time, we conceded a late consolation goal but it wasn't enough to worry us as we ran out 4-1 winners

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL FIRST LEG
Bayern Munich 2-1 Cardiff City
View attachment 132652
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez, Green, Oliver (Pritchard 68), Angerschmid (P.Boyle 68), G.Boyle

A tight game in Germany that became a disappointing loss having taken the lead only to see it slip and then go behind in a space of three minutes! We'll have to improve in the next leg but the away goal from Boyle could be crucial

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Cardiff City

View attachment 132648
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa (Gunter 85), Brown (Grant 85), Martinez, Green (Ramsey 75), Oliver, Angerschmid, G.Boyle

We battered Wednesday but just couldn't score. We started to worry until Mr Angerschmid bailed us out with a trademark tap in from an Andre Green cross. That goal could be huge as we hunt United and attempt to win back-to-back Premier League titles

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL SECOND LEG
Cardiff City 3-1 Bayern Munich
Cardiff win 4-3 on aggregate
View attachment 132647
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez (Grant 80), Green, Oliver (Pritchard 62), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

A 5 minute goal bonanza was enough to put us through to the semi finals as we battered Bayern Munich. Three goals in 5five minutes from our three best players in Andre Green, Greig Boyle and Marco Angerschmid were enough to put us through. We hammered munich and should have scored more but couldn't. We gave Bayern an undeserved lifeline with Jair's own goal but the Bavarians never really got going.

FA CUP SEMI FINAL
Cardiff City 3-0 Crystal Palace

View attachment 132645
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 75), Martinez, Green (P.Boyle 54), Oliver, Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 54)

A dominant display over Championship side Palace who'd done extraordinarily well to get to this point in the competition. Two first half goals put the game out of Palace's reach as the frame of their goal did them umpteen favours. We will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final

We missed Andre Green today, he's been nothing short of sensational this season and we missed his creativity, with Greig Boyle digging us out of a hole with an outstanding solo goal to keep our title dreams alive

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL FIRST LEG

View attachment 132583
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown, Martinez (Grant 60), Green, Oliver (Pritchard 73), Angerschmid (P.Boyle 73), G.Boyle

Wow! What a win! We scored two in two minutes as we battered Real, allowing them only 2 shots all game. Greig Boyle and Marco Angerschmid came up big in this game to give us a hugely important two goal lead going into the second leg

BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff City 3-1 Everton
View attachment 132582
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Koulopoulos, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 85), Martinez, Green (P.Boyle 85), Oliver (Pritchard 85), Angerschmid, G.Boyle

Our three best players came to the fore today, ripping apart a hapless Everton defence, scoring 3 in the first half before spending the second half in cruise control. Worryingly Everton had only one shot on target but scored it. New keeper needed?

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL SECOND LEG

Two goals in two minutes, one courtesy of former Bluebird Mikhail Tikhonov, was enough to see us through to the final of the Champions League! We scored and just sat back from then on, allowing Madrid possession but limiting to them to shooting from range, one of which went in but it was too late to have any real baring on the result

We did it! We've chased United down from a huge lead and managed to grab the league title from their open top bus! We rotated the side tonight as many of the players were looking slightly jaded after a long season and our backups did well, with Swansea boy Jamie Parry scoring the first goal which secured us the league

Cardiff City 2-0 Stoke City
View attachment 132391
Meret, Krejci, Jair, Bellamy, Nakagawa, Brown (Grant 64), Felgate, Green, Oliver, Angerschmid, G.Boyle (Carlos 64)

A dominant victory and a trophy presentation in the May sun, what more could you want? Fringe players Danny Bellamy and Adam Felgate made appearances today and fared well, with the big boys of Greig Boyle and Andre Green stealing the show with their goals

FA CUP FINAL

If there's one thing you don't want to do in a Cup Final, its go 2 goals down to Manchester United, but then again, if there's one thing you do want to do, it score just before half-time. Both fortunately and unfortunately we did both. United scored 2 of their 9 first half shots while we failed to convert all but one of our 7. Fortunately we turned things round in the second half and blew United away, running out comfortable winners despite the uncomfortable scoreline
