i'm gloucester at the moment. i'm about 20 years into the save though so it's very hard at the moment. teams are full of amazing regens and i never get any money to spend. can't even sign any foreign players due to work permits.

i kinda scraped up to the championship mainly through playoff victories. took a while but it was doable due to the small difference in quality between the top and bottom teams in the lower divisions. the championship is insane though. the top teams have so much money and wages to spend i've been struggling in it for 7 seasons now. i think a mixture of having about 100k to spend each year therefore relying on free transfers and the AI having very good players has just caused me to hit a brick wall. i've probably tried every tactic on this forum over the past 7 seasons but haven't really got anywhere. although i have lost in the playoffs for the past 3 seasons which is a bit of a killer.

anyway i started using your new falchion after a few games this season and it almost feels too good to be true. i'm so used to winning 1 game then losing the next on this version of fm.

here's the current table. still early days of course but i think it's the first time in 7 seasons that i've actually been top of the championship.

also beat middlesbrough and stoke away in the league cup who are both strong prem teams. the loss to birmingham was due to me playing control away from home i think. completely forgot to change it.

praying that this continues. i'm finding this years fm so much harder. which is pretty good i guess due to the realism of it, even if it is incredibly frustrating.

is claymore updated for the latest patch? I'm looking into creating a 4-4-2 so wanted to give it a test, never really been able to nail a 4-4-2 since fm13 I think.

@agreed What tactics have you been using to get up the leagues like that? Claymore or Falchion?

I am also having great results with Falchion playing as Napoli, the league is way too easy with this tactic.

To get from vanarama north to the championship i used quite a few different ones. The main 2 were the watford 4312 and the original falchion aswell. This was a while back though before the patch i think. As you can see I'm in 2038.

Should finish my latest season tonight so will post some more screenshots. I think I'm finally going to reach the premiership thanks to falchion v2.

Edit: i started this save pretty much when the beta came out and there wasn't many tactics out then.

I mean it took me about 7 years to actually achieve my first promotion haha. Been very tough.

I was using control or standard based on pre match odds aswell but i think current form plays a big part in influencing these odds which i don't really like. I was finding that sometimes I'd be away against a team that had much better players than mine but as i was higher in the league than them it had me as favourites but i was struggling with control. so now i just use control at home and standard away at all times.

Good thinking. Anyway we have the option, to change strategy during a match if the score bad, don't we :)

Yeh definitely. I think maybe with a top team control could be used in 90% of games. But as my team isn't very good and I'm predicted to finish 13th i find playing with standard away from home much more solid.

really annoying though as my final points total would have been enough to secure the title in the last 10 seasons! trust leicester to absolutely smash it the 1 time i actually break 100 points.

had a bit of a slump around christmas time due to playing a match every 2 days and my tiny squad not coping very well. 1 of the games were away to man city though so can't complain.

at the start of the season i was predicted to finish 15th.

Great season mate! With media pred 15th it is quite overachieving ;) It would be great to see the assists types from the goals analysis screen and the goals from corners stats.
 
hope you update the 4-4-2 tactic your tactics are very good ;)
