oh well, we'll bring them back to fortress St Andrews, lol. maybe if we can get a non-cup tied striker, he can make the difference and we can score some goals. maybe should have had a penalty, but when you are up against it, these things happen

What do people think of the stone wall penalty that we should have had?

what was the score?

West Ham 2-1 Small Heath Alliance

Credit to Brum for battling back in the second half, and credit to Big Eck for what seems like a **** good team talk. You have the away goal now, and I'd say you were favourites.

It's debateable.

I was the impression that away goals rule don't count in the League Cup which was Burnley's downfall against Spurs a couple of season's ago.

away goals do count but only in the semi final of the carling cup

They count only if scores are level after extra time in the second leg.

Just got on here, havent had a chance. Tbh a 1 goal lead isn't good for going back to st andrews, especially as Grant is now in a dilemma what to do, whether to attack from the off, or go there and defend and ultimately get a draw. The latter would be terrible and birmingham would ship goals past us. First half was brilliant, but we was asleep in the first half. However we deserved the victory just about. It's not over, but I think we could beat the brummys at st andrews, going to be a quality game, atmosphere and as a spectacle, cant wait, day off sixth form for a start haha! come on you ironsss

Ipswich will be without on-loan duo Jake Livermore and Rory Fallon, who are both ineligible having played for their parent clubs in earlier rounds.
Grant Leadbitter is still banned, but Gareth McAuley should again start despite his recent hamstring injury.

Emmanuel Eboue is expected to continue at right-back in the continued absence of the suspended Bacary Sagna.

Im seeing double and sorry for the mega quote

Ipswich v Arsenal line-ups:
Ipswich:
Fulop, Peters, McAuley, Delaney, Kennedy, Edwards, Norris, Healy, O'Dea, Wickham, Priskin.
Subs: Lee-Barrett, Smith, Eastman, Civelli, Lambe, Murray, Hourihane.
Arsenal: Szczesny, Eboue, Koscielny, Djourou, Gibbs, Walcott, Denilson, Fabregas, Wilshere, Arshavin, Bendtner.
Subs: Shea, Vela, Ramsey, Song, Chamakh, Eastmond, Miquel.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)

Very surprised with the strength of that team.
Arshavin and Bendtner :S

What the gaffers said

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "I thought Ipswich might have had their minds on tonight's game, perhaps. We are favourites for the cup because we are the highest-ranked team in it and we want to reach the final."

Ipswich caretaker-boss Ian McParland: "There were no difficult decisions tonight because we are seven players down. We were missing a lot of players and the players were still taking in their manager being sacked on Sunday, and Chelsea can do what they did to us to anyone."

---------- Post added at 12:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------

Cesc Fabregas delivers a free-kick from about 40 yards to the far post, where Andrey Arshavin has peeled off the defenders, only for the Russian to tamely bobble a volley wide of Marton Fulop's right-hand post

Best Chance so far

Been a very slow tempo boring game so far.. Hope it brightens up.

Connor Wickham

Very close there from Priskin. Good run to break free, took on Djourou just couldn't get enough bend on it.
