2011 Copa América Discussion Thread.

Hindsite is 20/20.

Eh? Robinho has done well for Brazil most of the games he played. Neymar and Ganso play as if they are playing in kindergarten with their Father watching and loving their beautiful flicks and tricks.

At least he could have changed at half time.

Now this makes sense. Neymar out, Fred In..

Just turned on the Brazil - Paraguay match... Interesting to see these comments...

A few questions:

Why isn't Ronaldinho on the team? Or Kaka? Or Nilmar? Hulk?!

I mean it's like Brazil is fielding a side just for fun for such a large competition... I mean, you wouldn't see a european team fielding a weak side for the European Championship would you?

I mean yeah, some of these guys might be old, but are better then the chosen ones...

And not playing players like Robinho? I thought this coach Menezes would be good, but this is ridiculous

Fred equalized. This is how it should be done.. 2-2.. Good substitution. Hopefully next match Robinho starts over Neymar..

The sub which scored... great move by coach Menezes to bring Fred on

Ganso is very strong on the ball. If any Premier club signs him he can easily cope with the pace and the physical nature of the league. Worth a punt.

I hope Neymar joins Chelsea. It would be complete flop. Don't get me wrong, he is good player and he can become one of the best, its just he has 0 physical strength and work rate.

People say Neymar is the new Ronaldo (Brazilian Ronaldo).

I seriously hope they are joking because the Brazilian Ronaldo was a God in his time

And he doesn't look like him at all in body stature.

Finally a game worth watching. Columbia were ****** good and they are group winners. They haven't conceded in 6 games I think, this without Zapata.. They can win Copa, looking favs now..

True playing very well falcao a beast:) and rodalega came on to great affect.... however even with a non conceding defence I have my reservations about the defence....

Dunno who looks like favourites but i expect to see brazil Argentina and Uruguay to come good in knockout rounds...hope not hope Paraguay or Columbia win;) pity Mexico's team weakened

Doubt you've watched many tapes with this boy have you? be honest :) because if you did your research he has been absolutely prolific in the brazillian league...he is an absolute beast,Ok he doesnt get back and help out to much but he does his job and there is no doubt in most brazil watchers mind that he is one of the best exponents of forward play around.... so to compare him to ronaldo is not merly to say his attributes are identical but instead in this case it is comparing his potential and stature in Brazillian football so to this extent I agree this kid can be the new ronaldo

Really doubt it. Ronaldo tore apart best defenses in the world by the time he was 20 and looked level above. His is one off. There is so much hype about Neymar, all he has done is score **** loads in Brazilian league. Yes he is very young and very light weight. Messi was light weight too, but he was very strong on the ball which Neymar isn't it. Faintest of touches is enough to knock him off the ball. That Ronaldo was superb athlete and was joy to watch.

Neymar is just hyped. Period. He may go on to have a superb career but he has done nothing to suggest he is next Ronaldo..

You may be right, I agree he has been hyped beyond what he truly is but in saying this he really deserves credit, take away his attitude and look at ability he truly is an amazing player....

The reason i say the comparasion is correct is because he definately has the potential to be... I'm not saying he will be but has potential...

Neymar will either be the next Ronaldo or the next Adriano...

Ya I know what you meant there. My way of thinking is every half decent player from Argentina was touted as Next Maradona and same in Brazil.

Pato was supposed to be next Ronaldo and before that Adriano. Well Adriano was simple superb during the early 2000s. Shame that he never recovered from his Father's death. Other wise we would have seen someone close to Ronaldo..

Yea Adriano did get close... real pity...

and on neymar personally i think Ganso is a lot better, but together they can grow to be unstoppable maybe maybe even better than Xavi and messi:p

Mate, Ronaldo was really out of shape and was tearing defenses apart in brazilian football. IMO Neymar is overrated, he is good, but Ronaldo when he was his age was tearing through the dutch league & european teams which were much much stronger that time...

Neymar is good, but hasn't reached that level of play yet... He certainly has the potential, but at this early stage to say he is a sure new ronaldo is just bad for him and his fans

I don't think Neymar's that fragile - he's too used to diving and getting fouls off referees that it's become a habit. Referees over here are absolute **** so you either go with the flow or you're in a disadvantage. It's killing me to say this, but nowadays he 'needs' to dive. It happens in Argentina too, the standard of refereeing is way, way below that of a decade ago. ****, even 5 years ago we had decent referees.

What time is the kick off for Argentina - Costa Rica?
