2011 Copa América Discussion Thread.

To be honest I don't fancy either Argentina or Brazil and honestly enjoy watching more tactical games haha sounds weird but i'd prefer a 0-0 if the marking nullified Messi well you know what I mean... kinda like I much rather see a great display of bowling in cricket than batting(might also be because I am a defender ;) )

Argentina made it easier for colombia, but Guarin was fantastic

Sorry, but the argument about Messi being a mediocre player without Xavi and Iniesta is stupid.

The fact that people are expecting Messi to create something magical every single game he plays is ridiculous.

Last time I checked, football is a team game. On most occasions, the team has to work hard to win, not one individual.

Sorry if I misunderstood your point but Xavi and Iniesta > Banega and Cambiasso. Those two are not bad players, Cambiasso is one of the best def mid. But the reason why's Barca so strong isn't Messi, its Xavi and Iniesta.
That's it; Messi would shine much easily with Xavi and Iniesta as partners than with Cambiasso and Banega. Good players, but nothing to do with the spaniards. Not the same type of players to try to play the same style.

He's still world class player without Iniesta and Xavi, just with them he's god of football.

If he doesnt start pastore, then he has only himself to blame

Can't wait next game. Just to see Pastore in action ( ofc if Batista decides otherwise )

Pastore should start as the attacking player of a midfield 3 along with Masch and Cambiasso. Don't see why Lavezzi has been starting ahead of Aguero/Di Maria. They are trying to put Messi in a similar role he plays for Barca when I think they would be better off playing him on the right side of a front 3 (with Tevez central and Aguero left, Di Maria over Aguero if Higuain starts over Tevez).

Colombia should have easily won the game given some of the chances they had. Guarin was excellent as was the Colombian RB Zuniga.
Would love to see Guarin in the PL, his release clause is pretty low to.

I would go Di Maria, Messi, Aguero, but Pastore should be starting

Gago should have been on for the Colombia game beside Masch with Pastore ahead.

Better passer and more composed than Cambiasso, could have dealt better with them.

Cambiasso and Masch together, imo, isn't the wisest thing to be doing.

Playing with Gago is like playing with a man down. He is not a patch on Cambiasso.

I dont think many of us are suggesting he is mediocre... that is stupid but we are just bringing to light the flaws of batista's tactical system.... this aint a hate thread bud

I agree Di Maria and messi but aguero not yet mature enough to be tactically diciplined on the wing not to mention Lavezzi's pace is amazing i'd go with him.

on the midfield debate easy choice pastore, ever benega and masch.

sorry mike ment to reply to all not just you :)

The Costa Rican national team dedicated their 2-0 victory ovef Bolivia to their late teammate Dennis Marshall.

Gololololololol, Uruguay leading Chile. Suarez with a nice assist, finished off well.

Paraguay are leading 2-1. From goal down to 2-1 now.

Neymar is ****, Dani Alves was at mistake for second goal. Pato hasn't done anything to deserve a start for Brazil. Robinho should have started the game.
