5-3-2, PLAYED 16, WON 16, SCORED 57 CONCEDED 1, 2 STRIKERS SCORING!!!

Yes original tactic mate but changed shadow striker to Advanced Playmaker - Attack. Changed some instructions as below. First season I used Mata and Mkitharian, Mkit played better in the role than Mata!! But then second season I signed Dybala so I play him there mostly. If he's injured/banned/in need of a rest I'll bring in Goretzka/Van De Beek/Arthur :)

i found ss only plays good when you've got a dlf also show us your first 11

Yeah the more I see other peoples feedback the more I realise the SS was a mistake :) Just haven't found a solution to the problem haha, I'm tempted to try other peoples tweaks such as moving the SS/AP as a third striker, having Dybala currently won't be a bad thing either :) Attached my team, can also see my backup players in the same pic :)

Finished 3rd though with a combination of the 523 tactics on this thread, so for NUFC I think that is a really good 1st season and with pretty much the same original squad with the only major additions being dembele, thiler, andre gomes on loan and nagatomo on loan. Oh and I signed Clyne in January

If anyone is struggling with the original tactic, I would strongly recommend trying the tweak by DiMartino. It's completely boosted my team's performance having that SS pushed up into the striker position.

I'm playing as Crystal Palace in the 1st season and my main signings are Kluivert, Dolberg, Romero and Cumrat. I've played 10 premier league games, with 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses - including wins over Arsenal and Tottenham.

With my team playing so well i'm tempted to try Denners tweak with the mixed passing and "Retain Possession" instructions, to see if my team are capable of controlling the game and creating more patient and considered chances.

First game using the aforementioned tweak, I beat Watford 6-0 at home. It's set the tactic familiarity bars back a bit so will keep testing it out until its fully fluid.

Denners tweak might resolve this, but I believe the main issue with this tactic is how the midfield operates. Most of the goals scored tend to come from counter attacking situations with a wing back or CM sending the ball long and wide to one of the 3 strikers who outnumber the oppositions defence. However, sometimes the two midfielders get outnumbered and passed to death the whole game, meaning these counter attacking situations don't occur, particularly when the other team has fast strikers and good CMs.

- My first thought would be to set the mentality to counter to fully utilize the tactics main strength, urging the opposition onto us, before pinching the ball and roaring our way to their goal.

- The second option would be to change the CMs roles, one to defend and the other to support in order to restrict the roaming of my midfield wall. My only worry here is whether that would isolate my attacking strata from my midfield strata. I could offset this by changing the wider strikers to support, but i'm not sure if this takes away from the plan of overwhelming the oppositions back line when we are counterattacking.

- The final option i'm thinking about is sacrificing one of those 3 central defenders to place them DMC position. Whilst i lose that solid 3 man wall, it will mean we can put pressure on the opposition and win the ball slightly higher up the field. We wont' be overrun in midfield and we would still be able to keep the support and attack duties of the original CMs as the DMC will act as adequate midfield cover when they wander.

Just some musings but will definitely be trying some of the above out as I believe this tactic is very close to being a perfect system for its purpose!

Have to say I am really enjoying this tactic. I am using it on my first FM18 save. Won the treble in the first season. BL, German Cup and Champions League. I am Bayern admittedly. The SS position isnt even too bad for me, Muller is pretty consistent. To be fair I tried James Rodriguez there once or twice and he was awful, and I guess im lucky in the sense that Muller alongside Dele Alli is probably the best SS in the game. Despite my dominance I did have several games against lesser opposition where I would scrape a 1-0 or 2-1, so it isnt always dominant but overall great stuff

Also, I would agree with the above poster about counter attacking. Probably 60% of my goals for Bayern came from counter attacks, and its not even much of a pacey side.

Here's my tweak. I had to make more tweaks than expected when playing with Twente, thereof the slight delay. I'm not saying this one is better than the one in the OP but i'm experiencing less conceded goals with this tweak.

This tweak is very good, especially for teams who do not have high quality wing backs and central defenders. But it needs "universal" midfielders and strikers. Midfielders must have a balanced set of defensive and offensive attributes. A midfielder very good defensive only or attacking only can cause big problems. Strikers must be able to play in any striker position (left, central or right) and at least one of them need very high off-the-ball attribute. Again, a very specialised striker is useless even if he is a great scorer or an "assist-machine". All strikers must be able to create space, pass, cross and finish at least at an average level.

Hello guys,

I am using the strikerless version of the tactic. I am in my second season, but results are very bad. My team is one of the 4 best teams in Turkey, but look at these;

Can someone help me about improving my team results?
Hi mate :) wrong thread I'm afraid, that tactic is nothing to do with mine (I can see by the name of it on the right and player roles are completely different to mine), so not sure how to improve it. The best thing about my tactic/the tweaks to mine I've saw is how many goals the strikers score, I wouldn't play without a striker :) My advice would be give mine a go or even the successful tweaks in the comments :)

Anybody who is having trouble with the SS role, I found training a Striker for the position can help. They need some midfield type attributes, such as decent passing. I find that works better than a player who is a traditional playmaker type.

What a season!!
