Having moved into the new 53,100 capacity stadium coupled with our 2nd Champions League title we are now reputedly the 5th biggest club in the world only behind Barca, Inter, Man Utd and Real Madrid. Our total value is £287m (10th). Quite a jump from when I came in!

With a heavy heart veterans Andoni Iraola (Deportivo £1m) and Gorka Iraizoz (Levante £1.5m) left the club in order to let a couple of youngsters get involved more. Ander Iturraspe also left for Sporting Gijon (£2.5m) and Cristian Ayechu went out on loan.

AUGUST

Bilbao win Spanish Super Cup and European Super Cup
Big opening day wins for Barca and Bilbao but Real Madrid slip up
Serge Aurier and Lee Wallace move to Atletico while Griezmann leave for FC Porto
Real Sociedad sign Oriol Romeu
Bilbao get AC Milan, Ajax and Hoffenheim in Champions league - EEK!!!!

The month started with 2 wins home and away against Barcelona (reserves) in the Spanish Super Cup. They pretty much just gave us the trophy so that was nice! We also comfortably beat Juventus to win our 2nd trophy in as many weeks. Two great results to kick offour title challenge also!

Unlucky in the league mate, I am sure you will be in the mix again this season though. Looking good on all other fronts so I am sure you will be fighting for them again. Rafa at Real now. . . I give him until January.

Well we are banging in the goals! Granted we havent had the hardest fixture list but with Real Madrid and Barcelona slipping up we have opened up a nice little lead at the top.

OCTOBER

Bilbao suffer injuries to strikers and left backs
Real Madrid beat Bilbao to first defeat
Youngsters step in and do a job

A good month. Llorente got injured in the game against Almeria and got injured for 6 weeks so Jose Carlos Sanz came in and got injured himself so Fermin Garcia came in and did really well. Also I had left backs Monreal and Aurtenetxe stretchered off in the game against Mallorca. Against Real Madrid young Fermin Garcia had a goal disallowed that would have put us 1-0 up.

Mallorca and Sociedad sack their managers
Bilbao hit the 10pt mark in Europe but may still go out
Bilbao open up 6pt lead at the top

Its all going along very nicely in the league. Barca and Real Madrid both slipped up and we kept winning. Got a big win in the derby against Real Sociedad where we were down to ten men. In Europe we are top on 10pts but got to play Ajax on 8pts and AC Milan have 7pts. Could all go wrong!

Athletic lose to Ajax but still go through
European Championship draw gives Spain Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Romania
Manchester City up next for Bilbao in Europe

Scary biscuits in Europe! Lucas Andersen ripped us apart and we got hammered but luckily Hoffenheim beat AC Milan so we finished 2nd in the group. A tough win against Sevilla was follwed by the game against Sporting where we scored 4min into injury time to win but we had 2 goals disallowed earlier. The Club World Cup wasnt a contest, Garcia even missed a penalty in the final.

Delighted to see Aitor Herrera break the Messi/Ronaldo stranglehold in the FIFA Golden Ball Award!

have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your successes... makes me want to start a Bilbao save but am presently enjoying managing man u, mid way through second season atm, but am looking for a less established club to take over in the future... good luck and hope you win the league!!
