Scholes. Never seen anyone pinging 60-70 yards passes with so much ease and precision.
For short passing Xavi.

For overall Scholes and then Pirlo.

Edit: Tbh, Beckham had good range of passing and worth a mention for best passer.

well it's just mine humble opinion,and i managed to narrow it down to only 4 but ofcourse it wasn't just them

my biased opinion would be luka modric--->because he is croatian but also he is excellent if u keep track of his game,can't think of many better than him atm

Don't think having a poll does justice tbh and I don't think there's one definitive answer (obviously the OP is looking for one, but then the poll seems a little moot since it leaves out a lot of quality passers/players).

For what it's worth, I went for Pirlo - simply because he had/s it all.

I think Bergkamp is a really interesting choice on the poll - quite possibly the best passer of every 'forward' - Henry always says that he's the best player he ever played alongside because he saw everything and could pick him out in an instant.

Scholes is a brilliant passer, as well but I don't think Beckham deserves to be there: Vast technical quality and a superb dead-ball specialist but the best passer of all time? Not for me. Nowhere near.

Why is there no Gerrard?! He can play long passes, or split the defence open on the ground - brilliant passer of the ball.

Xavi is an excellent passer, same with Iniesta and Fabregas (who also isn't there? Has more versatility in passing than both of those two) but over shorter distances - edge-of-the-area-ruler-passes etc. which requires extraordinary passing and vision but I don't think any of those players deserve the award =)

agree with what you say about scholes i think his ability (which is incredable) is being over exagurated here

hardly exaggerated, even his illustrious contemporaires like zidane refer to him as one of the finest midfield passers ever. while the argument for who is the best is subjective, its wrong to say his ability is exaggerated

Joss, gerrard isnt actually that good a passer when compared to some of the names above, his long passes, while tried very often, dont hit their targets anywhere near as often as the likes of scholes, pirlo, guti etc
