I am actually disgusted that Laudrup doesn't have more votes.
YouTube - Michael Laudrup Passing Compilation

There is an obvious bias towards the most recent players, I guess that just shows the huge age gap within the forum

I said the same thing earlier. I was shocked when himself and platini were recieving such little votes. I cant remember much of them as i was very young when they retired. Still quality players.

part of the reason why im not a fan of polls, because in truth there is very little separating most of these players, all i say is i feel very lucky to have watched these players, and even luckier to have had 3 of them play for us

That is true. Good to see who people like the most but .

I have always thought that in terms of impossible passes that no one else would think off Guti was in a league of his own.

After watching that however WOW.

They're obviously all great passers, but Laudrup seemed to make them on a regular basis and looked like he could create a goal everytime he got the ball. He was such a complete player

Ask ANYONE in Argentina and they will tell you it's Ricardo Bochini...he could pass a ball through the keyhole of a lock, they would tell me. Veron and Maradona were great passers but not in the same league as Bochini.

Out of the list I voted for Guti, that man was a genius. I'm really sorry I missed most of his Real career, didn't watch La Liga til recently.

Wow he passed with small ball :P Well there are allot of brilliant passer's no one should be called the best :)

Gerrard can do some good cross-field passes, but if I had to choose a player, probably Alonso as I haven't really seen Zidane, Veron or Beckenbauer play.

Before:
Juan Sebastián Verón.

Now:
Xavi
Xavi Alonso
Iniesta
Ozil
Pastore

Bochini was awesome. The term "pase bochinesco" (Roughly "Bochinesque pass") is still in use today by commentators (Granted, mostly old ones) to describe a great pass.

Horrible quality, but this is a good example.

Couldn't get a passing compilation only.

Where are Rui Costa and Djalminha?
And what is Xavi doing there? I haven't seen the guy pass the ball across more than 5 meters

Out of that list, I'd say Scholes is the one that stands out as consistently successful with either short or long range passing. Becks is without doubt the best crosser of a ball, but I don't think he should be included on the list.

Yeah I was gonna mention that, I cannot believe Rui Costa isn't in that list! He's much better than some of the players on it.

As far as Xavi goes, if you don't think Xavi at least deserves to be mentioned than I don't know who you're watching. As we said before, there's long passing and short passing, and Xavi is as good as they come. But also, it's more than simply the skill involved, it's about the decision-making and timing too. Few are as good as Xavi is in this respect. He is the heart and soul of the Barca and Spanish NT, who have won everything recently. He sets their tempo and is invaluable to their success. This isn't done through his tackling or athleticism. It's his passing.

English bias but I believe Jonny Haynes or Glenn Hoddle deserve a place in the poll even if they wouldn't win it. Most surprising omission for me though is Riquelme, can't believe I'm the first to ask where he is.

I'm Danish, so I should be crossing off Michael Laudrup, but I have to say Xavi. He is the essence of one of the worlds greatest clubs at the moment (the best if they won't dive all the time), and while Michael Laudrup is a genius on the pitch, I wouldn't call him the best.

I'm sorry but if you can't plant the ball on your teammate's foot from atleast 50 meters, you don't deserve to be considered for "best passer" title in my book
And I haven't seen Xavi do that
