Unstoppable Newcastle make it 8 from 8 on Hristov's birthday

Newcastle manager Dimiter Hristov turned 43 in stylish fashion as the lads gave their inspiring leader one more reason to celebrate with an emphatic 4-0 win against visiting Spurs. Tottenham arrived at Saint James' Park with the bold ambition to spoil the party but were brushed aside with formidable ease. Nothing could stop the Magpies from returning top of the league and it is nothing short of what Hristov deserves for his birthday after giving so much to the club.

Perfect present for the manager's birthday

It only took seven minutes for tireless midfielder Aubrey Mashishi to open the score and from then on the stands were chanting famous songs for the legendary manager. The lads were in some proper mood for football and Ibáñez and a Priestley brace completed the convincing win to send Spurs back home wondering what they could have done better.

Spurs no match for Magpies

There was however a little spoiler in the other games today as surprise package Manchester City prevailed over Leeds and joint Newcastle on points preventing the Magpies from a clear lead on the top. It could be the better result in the long term though with the Citizens unlikely to persist with their early season form and Leeds the more likely contender as the campaign moves on.

Devils keep up the tempo after trip to the North East

Gary Neville

Published at 7:23PM, October 23 2027

North East travels have rarely brought joy to Manchester United in recent seasons but playing rock-bottom Middlesbrough meant nothing but three points would be good enough. Two first half goals from Callaghan and Blasi calmed the team and the job seemed done. We have developed the unpleasant habit of making life hard for ourselves and this afternoon was no exception when veteran Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled one back for the struggling hosts to make the final ten interesting.

View attachment 355558
Hard-fought win at Boro puts us in third

Our own veteran Amos Obi then closed the contest with stoppage time third goal but I am worried with this tendency to fail at killing off games early. Lesser teams will now know they can pull a fight and if you give them hope they can take something off you sooner or later that will happen.

View attachment 355559
Unbelievable last gasp winner and Citizens are 2nd

On a more positive note we are now third in the league and pretty much in the title fight. All the ingredients for a fantastic season are there, and a stoppage time winner out of the blue for the noisy neighbours against Leeds means there is extra incentive for us to keep going - can you believe it, we are in top three and they are ahead of us?! Something in the universe must be broken and we have to make sure that wrong is corrected.

Incredible win away to Arsenal sparks memories of last season's form
............................................................................................................
By Kevin Gallacher.................iiiiiii.iii.7:21 PM Sunday 31st October 2027 in Sport
............................................................................................................

A lot of analyzers drew conclusions Neil Lennon's squad would regret missing on the title last season after the mind blowing 104 points were not enough to beat Newcastle. Such accomplishment would be impossible to repeat and with the Magpies on fire in the autumn it will indeed take something special to match them. Although despite our miserable performance in the direct clash with them we have been perfect so far.

View attachment 355621
Neil Lennon hasn't lost the magic wand

One of the main reasons behind our incredible points tally last campaign was the ability to produce wins out of the blue on numerous occasions. We didn't always outplay our opponents but we somehow managed to get away with all the points. Neil Lennon will be happy to see the squad has not lost this ability during the vacation. This became as evident as it could get today in a tough, nearly impossible trip to Emirates. Arsenal may not be amongst the contenders but have hit a nice vein of form recently and look to challenge for European qualification. They are a force to be reckoned with and outplayed us in every aspect of the game.

View attachment 355618
Gunners scratching heads how they lost it

Every aspect but the scoreline. We returned to murderous efficiency with two amazing counter attacks in the first twenty minutes to take a comfortable two goal lead and a masterful performance by Barreto and Ravndal in our defense ever since denied the Gunners any chance of getting back in it. And boy, didn't they try! We never got near their goal and they kept coming at us. On any other day, nine times out of ten, this would be a game we'd drop points. But not today. The doubters are silenced - and we are on track for a repeat of last season's heroics, hopeful of a better outcome this time.

Liverpool - genuine contenders or expensive wannabes?

Every time a club spends heavily in the transfer market in a look to move up a level questions will be raised. Especially if the first couple of months of the campaign lead to a bottom half position in the table. Have the funds been spent wisely? Was it smart to bring in so many bodies without giving them proper time to blend in as a team? What could be regarded success if you have spent hundreds of millions?

View attachment 355631
Return to the Liverpool way imperative

We are getting used to this situation. It is the second consecutive season we spend big and don't enjoy the expected strong start. A thrifty win away to Middlesbrough this weekend was only good enough to sit 12th in the table instead of 15th - hardly impressive. Liverpool manager Míchel survived the previous campaign after leading us back to Europe and had the comfort of more than sufficient backing from the board. Few would argue he would need to do better this time. The jury is still out on him and I do believe sticking with the Spaniard is the right decision - the only way to success is a return to the Liverpool way of stability.

View attachment 355632
This trophy cabinet demands

Although we must do better than bottom half, or top half. We must at least challenge for top four and look for a trophy. There is plenty of time to do this and our league position isn't as perilous as it might appear at first sight considering we have as many as three games postponed for different reasons. Three wins from these would see us closer to where we should be - but the real question is can we forge these wins? Because three defeats in seven league games doesn't instill confidence. We have the resources. It is time for the lads and the manager to show what they are made of.

Premier League Table

The Contenders:

Newcastle (1st; 27pts; +38) - the Magpies enforce their way to the top in imperative fashion. Nobody and nothing can stop them in these early months.
Player of the month: Santiago Bernal (DC/DM) 8.48
0 Current first team injuries.

Manchester United (2nd; 24pts; +18) - it was a relatively easy month in terms of fixtures for the Devils but they made the most of it and closed it with a massive win against arch-rivals Manchester City. This allows them to move up the table and they are now as close to Newcastle as ever.
Player of the month: Kôtarô Kawaguchi (DC/DM/MC) 8.40
2 Current first team injuries:
Abdoul Konaté (D/WBL) - 12-21 days (lower back stress facture)
Almamy Traoré (AMR/ST) - 3-5 weeks (broken ankle)

Blackburn (4th; 24pts; +10) - Rovers cruise past tough fixtures this month and important victories over Everton, Arsenal and Manchester City will have additional value in boosting the confidence of their players.
Player of the month: Savio Barreto (DC) 8.08
1 Current first team injury:
Lars Persson (DC) - 6-8 weeks (hip injury)

Leeds (5th; 22pts; +17) - minor slip against high flying Citizens deprives Leeds of a perfect October although they did make up for it with convincing win against fellow contenders Chelsea.
Player of the month: Phillip Foose (DC) 8.40
1 Current first team injury:
Diego Herrera (ST) - 2-3 months (torn hamstring)

Chelsea (6th; 16pts; +6) - the Blues had only one serious fixture in October but suffered a bad loss against Leeds in it. This means they are unable to improve on their league position this month.
Player of the month: Lee Sung-Ho (DM/MC) 7.72
3 Current first team injuries:
Leonardo Martinez (DC) - 3-12 days (fractured wrist)
Dany Varillas (DM/MC) - 2-3 weeks (twisted ankle)
Andy Conroy (GK) - 1-5 days (broken wrist)

Liverpool (12th; 12pts; +2) - it was a terrible start of the month for Liverpool when they conceded heavy home defeat to Newcastle although much easier fixtures against relegation threatened teams slightly repaired the damage. It's the third month in a row that sees Liverpool occupy bottom half position although they now have three games in hand and should be able to improve on that.
Player of the month: Pierpaolo Voltolini (AML/ST) 7.48
2 Current first team injuries:
Juan Gabriel Travieso (DC) - 2-3 weeks (fractured ribs)
Daniël van Bremen (M/AMC/ST) - 4-10 days (sports hernia)

Other teams to watch:

Manchester City (3rd) - the Citizens lost a bit of momentum but remain very close to the top and keep their ambitions for a top four finish.

Everton (7th) - the Toffees are now closest to the contenders and it will be interesting to see if they can push for European qualification.

Arsenal (9th) - the Gunners are still well positioned to attack higher grounds.

West Ham (11th) - as expected the Hammers are unable to maintain their impressive early form and fall in the bottom half.

Crewe Alexandra (16th) - they register two wins this month and ease relegation fears a little.

Crystal Palace (17th) - they are the only club outside the bottom three yet to win a game in the league.

Swansea, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa occupy the bottom three without a win on their books. It looks especially dire for Boro and the Villains as they have only managed a single draw so far.

The default one, I can't remember but I think I added some of the winter transfers. I purchased the game some time January so not all of them - it's the first and only save I have on it.

Must admit a little sin though, I didn't move Ba to Chelsea and he went on to become a club legend and retire at Newcastle. Maybe I would have found it harder or at least more time consuming to establish us as the powerhouse we currently are if I didn't have him.

Okey, thank you for answer. I just wondered since i saw that Blackburn and Liverpool had some really good norwegian regens, and on my saves is always the norwegian regens bad. (Yes I am from Norway :p)

Tony Cascarino Commentary
Last updated at 8:12PM, November 7 2027

This Super Sunday inflicted further damage on Chelsea's title ambitions. A surprisingly uneventful trip to Old Trafford ended up in tears for the Blues after a first half stoppage time goal by van Dijk proved enough to secure all the points for Manchester United. This is the third time Chelsea lose in the league this season and it is quite concerning all of these losses come against other contenders or teams near the top - the other two against Manchester City and Leeds.

View attachment 355730
Chelsea choke at Old Trafford, too

Chelsea's efficiency against the lesser teams is commendable although not good enough. Those games alone will only be enough for a top half finish or Europa League qualification at best and it's not what Roman Abramovich has asked for. With three losses from three top four contender encounters Marcelino will have to make sure the team doesn't develop a complex for big games. There is sufficient quality to match each of the best teams in the league although facing them with little confidence is recipe for disaster.

Next contender clash - Liverpool

The next two games on the fixture list are at home against Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers and must be won to build up some belief before going to Anfield for another contender clash in the final league game for November. Liverpool are probably the best contender to meet when you are looking for a win as their heavy spending has so far failed to materialize into points. The good news is they are playing worse than Chelsea in the moment. The bad - they are the only team amongst the contenders you could say this about.

Leeds United: back in top four with classic win over Gunners - Matteo
View attachment 355761

by Dominic Matteo
With key striker Herrera out for at least another two months Harry Redknapp finds himself short with options up front. Luckily his earlier clash with Ahn Jung-Ho is in the past now and the South Korean striker repaid the new found trust with 12 goals from as many games. Leeds supporters will pray the star stays injury free but even in the current state of the team it is obvious we may struggle with the heavy schedule list. Players like Pöyry are already showing signs of tiredness and it is unclear how long the lads will be able to play at the same level without a rest.

View attachment 355748
Attacking players beginning to tire

That might be a real issue in the future but the present looks bright. Arsenal were brushed away with surprising ease and Leeds are back in top four. Redknapp put emphasis on the midfield and we held over 60% possession. Unable to consistently hold the ball, Arsenal's usual game plan was disrupted and they rarely threatened. Just two shots, both off target, meant we registered another clean sheet and I must say our defensive work this season is very impressive. We have the second least conceded goals after Newcastle and we have faced prolific opposition like Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and now the Gunners.

View attachment 355757
Defense turning our goal in real fortress

We have two more league games this month - West Ham away and Crystal Palace at home. Both should be winnable if we can keep our concentration. Harry asked for consistency in the post match press conference and hopefully the players will listen - if we do our job we will remain close to the top and Newcastle can't keep this monstrous sequence going on forever.

Newcastle prevail in Al Mubarak Arena clash

Dimiter Hristov decided against his usual full rotation policy to allow Dong Dexin a second full match in a row and that decision played a massive role in the visit to Al Mubarak Arena as the Chinese was the most influential figure on the pitch. The first half was a tight contest with both sides wanting it and tackles flying all over the place. Dong Dexin showed lethal instincts to score twice and the Magpies were on track for another convincing victory.

View attachment 355827
It was a very physical game

The Citizens didn't give up though and continued closing down aggressively after the break. Newcastle refused to back down and it turned in a very physical clash. Considering all the kicking an injury was always on the cards and sadly it was us who gave a victim in young wing-back Sam Thomas. Manchester City picked up six yellow cards and it seemed unlikely they would end the game with eleven men on the pitch. The risk paid back though and the Citizens clawed one back through their leading goalscorer Georges Hubert in the 81st minute.

View attachment 355828
Unbelievable - the red went our way

Amazingly Newcastle and not City had to experience a sending off. Centre-back Mark Erwin saw yellow for the second time just before stoppage time and gave Hristov a real tactical puzzle to defend the fragile lead in the final minutes. With all three subs already used the Newcastle manager switched Soriano to partner Diédhiou and moved quick striker Radek Pilar to fill the left wing-back slot. And it was Pilar who won the ball with a pin point tackle and start a counter just when City were throwing bodies in search for an equalizer. Undiana picked Pilar's pass and released a magnificent through ball for Dong Dexin who raced past the opposition defense and put it in the corner of the net to seal his hat-trick and the three points today. What a big evening for the Magpies!

Late Obi strike keeps Manchester United in third

Gary Neville

Published at 7:13PM, November 21 2027

Our visits in the North East have traditionally been hard. This weekend's trip against Sunderland was no different. The hosts employed a classic 4-4-2 formation but striker Jeff Bellamy often dropped deep to help midfield as the Black Cats looked to put out a battle and stop us from our usual overwhelming possession. This plan worked to an extent and Sunderland's desire to commit as many fouls as possible broke the flow in our attacks.

View attachment 355831
We wasted some good chances in the first half

We produced a few chances in the first half but took none of them and pressure was gradually growing on the lads. Our midfielders threw a lot of energy and Shoretire and captain López were tiring. Sir Alex persisted with them as he had already substituted Kawaguchi to give summer arrival Milovanovic his debut. I think Ferguson was looking for experience as we were looking for a way to unlock Sunderland's defense but perhaps introducing Sedgemore a little earlier would have spared the injury of our captain.

View attachment 355832
Obi finally nets the winner

It was a real fight and Milovanovic had to cope with a knock as well with all subs now used. The final five minutes were running and Milan became an instant hero giving the piercing pass for veteran Obi to finally get that winner in the 86th minute. Sunderland had little energy left themselves and were unable to respond - hard but sweet victory for the Red Devils and we keep our third place after a very tough visit at the Stadium of Light.
