Kenny Dalglish looking to make Liverpool return!

The identity of the mysterious buyer looking to take the club off Werner's hands has finally been unveiled - and behold, it is a well known figure at Anfield! Kenny Dalglish - one of our greatest legends - is locked in negotiations with the current owner. According to The Guardian Dalglish is believed to be willing to part with £271 million to seize control over the club.

Dalglish looking to buy Liverpool

Dalglish was present at Hillsborough today and watched the inspired lads defeat hosts Sheffield Wednesday with the convincing 5-2. Two of our summer arrivals Voltolini and van Wonderen made the difference scoring three goals between them and the away fans reminded Kenny they expect the spending to continue under his reign should the negotiations come to fruition.

Past tragedy and future hopes meet at Hillsborough

One thing certain is there will be no imminent transfers as the Liverpool board have placed an embargo as a result of the takeover talks. These restrictions will remain in place until the outcome has been resolved.

Kawaguchi the sinner as Callaghan's hat-trick not enough for a point at the Bridge

Gary Neville

Published at 9:51PM, March 22 2028

We had the lead twice against our Chelsea hosts who are known to choke in big games but ultimately failed to defend it and had to go home empty-handed. Things were looking well at the break after Callaghan scored twice despite the Blues coming back with a Huerta equalizer.

View attachment 357866
Kawaguchi red changed the game

It all went wrong in the second half. I am sure Sir Alex talked to the lads about guarding against complacency but they didn't hear. A massive lapse in concentration during the opening ten minutes allowed Chelsea to turn the game around and first come on equal terms, then take the lead. Their world class defender Marjan Cvetanovski inspired in our box after failing to do so in theirs. As if this wasn't bad enough Kawaguchi picked up a second yellow card and left us with ten men for the final thirty.

View attachment 357869
Cvetanovski scores the winner

All of a sudden a game we should have been winning comfortably turned in a nightmare we'd be lucky to take anything from. Even in this dire situation Martin Callaghan was at the right place to complete his hat-trick and make it 3-3. We came close to sharing the spoils and it would have been a decent result given the circumstances although Cvetanovski was not done with us. He grabbed his second in stoppage time to seal an unlikely Chelsea win and broke our hearts. The Blues are now nine points behind us and we need to make sure we take at least six of our last eight games until the end of the season if we want guaranteed Champions League football in the autumn.

Chelsea improvement must be used as foundation for next campaign

Tony Cascarino Commentary

Better late then never for Chelsea but March is more "late" than "better" to improve in direct title contender clashes. Nevertheless credit must be assigned where it is due and the Blues have impressed with new found grit and will to fight in difficult circumstances. The peculiar thing is they only needed one big result to instill that all important belief and the game against Leeds gave it to them. It's sad they had to wait until March as it would have been interesting to see how far they could go had they got it earlier.

View attachment 357965
Chelsea show true grit in March

Here is a hint at what was missed by taking a look at Chelsea's fixtures in March: 5th - Leeds (H) 6-1; 12th - Oxford (A) 2-0; 5th - Man Utd (H) 4-3; 25th - Q.P.R. (A) 2-1. The last two games represent the highest level of performance in Chelsea's season in terms of responding to difficult circumstances. Against the Devils they needed to come from behind twice and then reach the winning goal in stoppage time. This weekend they had the lead, got down to ten men, conceded an equalizer and still managed to find a late winner. None of this would have been possible without the confidence gained from the Leeds game.

Strong finish to ensure form carries over next campaign

Despite the perfect record this month Chelsea are highly unlikely to make it in the top four. It is too late and even a 100% winning streak may not be enough. What is more important is that this performances continue to ensure a strong finish as a foundation for the next campaign. If the Blues can enter it with the same grit they will be moving places. The quality they already have.

Now that's closer to Newcastle!

I talked about the importance of catching the gap with Newcastle in terms of the amount of goals they score. I've been criticized for "not appreciating the magnitude of our form over the last two seasons" by some fans. Okay, many fans. Please let me make clear I'm not taking anything away from the lads or Neil Lennon. What they are doing is amazing and I didn't believe I'd live to see it happen. I'm proud and privileged to be associated with this great club.

View attachment 357992
Now that's something to cheer about

In the same time there is only one thing that separates us from Newcastle. Goals. That's not my opinion. It's a fact. They are always confident they will score more than any other team in the world and they do it. Everyone expects them to do it. Nobody would dare to challenge their goalscoring record. Well, nobody dared to challenge their points record either and here we are, doing it for the second season running.

View attachment 357994
Titles like that no longer Newcastle trademark

Today's game against Crystal Palace is a great exercise in Newcastle's last feature we need to emulate. It's our biggest league win since 1954 (when we beat Boro 9-0 at Ewood Park) and the first league game we have four different names on the score sheet since early February. It also implies we can look for goals in all positions - strikers, midfielders and defenders. Of course it is unlikely we will catch up with Newcastle's mammoth goal difference this season but it's a step in the right direction - one Neil Lennon needs to build up on.

Premier League Table

The Contenders:

Blackburn (1st; 90pts; +59) - Rovers maintain their winning streak and get ahead of Newcastle in the title race.
Player of the month: Can Özdemir (ST) 8.46
0 Current first team injuries.

Newcastle
(2nd; 87pts; +120) - the Magpies grab three wins out of three games but a postponed fixture means they are now trailing Blackburn.
Player of the month: Pape Diédhiou (DC/DM) 8.66
2 Current first team injuries:
Antonio Undiana (DM/MC) - 10-14 days (twisted knee)
Sam Thomas (DR/WBRL) - 1-4 days (back strain)

Manchester
United (3rd; 73pts; +47) - the Red Devils earn seven points this month and will need to sweat about defending this position in the league table.
Player of the month: Guy Amadou (M/AMC/ST) 7.84
1 Current first team injury:
Raymond McFadden (DRL/WBR) - 4-6 weeks (torn hamstring)

Leeds (4th; 71pts; +37) - decent form this month allows Leeds to close the gap to the Red Devils and a win in their game in hand will see them rise in third place. In the same time a March loss against Chelsea means top four is not a certainty yet.
Player of the month: Ahn Jung-Ho (ST) 8.48
0 Current first team injuries.

Chelsea (5th; 66pts; +35) - the Blues hit amazing form this month by notching four straight wins and keep top four dreams alive.
Player of the month: Denis Karadza (DRC) 8.16
2 Current first team injuries:
Slobodan Magazin (M/AMC) - 10-28 days (torn hamstring)
Tajuddin Hossain (M/AML) - 2-3 weeks (pulled hamstring)

Liverpool (6th; 59pts; +20) - the Reds only manage seven points this month and lose ground in the fight for higher positions. There is little intrigue in how their season will end with Europa League position all but granted.
Player of the month: Pierpaolo Voltolini (AML/ST) 8.32
4 Current first team injuries:
Badji Soumbounou (AMRL/ST) - 11-14 days (calf strain)
Viv Bevan (DL) - 4-7 weeks (torn hamstring)
Eirik Mork (MC/ST) - 3-7 days (lower back stress fracture)
Juan Gabriel Travieso (DC) - 2 months (torn hamstring)

Other teams to watch:

Arsenal (7th) - the Gunners have the upper hand in their fight with Everton and Manchester City for the last league position that could grant Europa League qualification.

Everton (8th) - the Toffees are one point away from Arsenal and their season is far from over.

Manchester City (9th) - the Citizens lose further ground on European qualification. They are two points behind Arsenal and one behind Everton. We are set for an intriguing fight for 7th between these three sides.

Swansea (12th) - the Swans maintain their midtable position and are just six points away from the 40 margin with seven games left. Despite that chances of relegation are purely mathematical and it's safe to say Swansea are... safe.

Sunderland (17th) - neverending rollercoaster in the bottom as the Black Cats once again switch places with Crewe. It's unlikely to be the last time with both teams on level points at the moment.

Crewe Alexandra, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa occupy the bottom three. Crewe and Palace are withing touching distance of safety although the Villains need double what they have now just to catch up.

Citizens brushed aside - time to concentrate on Champions League

View attachment 358542
Rob Lee
Published at 9:11PM, April 2 2028

Newcastle United once again eased fears they might be on the verge of a dip in form after a midweek loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Hristov's full rotation policy ensures the players are always fresh and even if they had a poor game they have had the necessary break to get away from negative emotions. It also adds some healthy competition within the squad with the lads who started in the Champions League now itching to prove they are no worse than those who ripped Manchester City apart in the domestic competition.

View attachment 358238
Healthy competition in the team

There is additional pressure this time though. A win in the second leg against the Parisian team is imperative while a blip in the league can be fixed. If we don't beat PSG, we are out - as simple as that. And all our impressive games in the CL will count for nothing. Our form outside the Premier League does little to calm fears we might suffer an early knock out. We have won 30 and lost 1 out of 31 league games this season. In the same time we've won 19, drawn 3 and lost 1 of the 23 games in other competitions so far. It comes to suggest we are more vulnerable when not playing a PL fixture and this fact will stick in the players' heads.

View attachment 358237
CL success imperative

As I already pointed out, winning competitions is essential to support Hristov's structure at the club financially. Dropping out of the Champions League at such an early stage would be a hard hit to take and the Bulgarian manager knows it must be avoided, at all cost.

Leeds United: Phil Jones announces decision to leave under Bosman ruling - Matteo
View attachment 358240

by Dominic Matteo
One of the last players of the old days still in the game Phil Jones has announced his decision to leave the club under the Bosman ruling when his contract expires. Phil has been desperate for first time football for some time and feels he won't be getting it with us. It is sad and disappointing to lose the versatile defender but in all fairness he is probably right in his expectations. Harry simply couldn't offer him more playing time than the 8 starts and 9 sub appearances so far this season.

View attachment 358241
Phil Jones

Jones has been a part of the first team ever since he arrived from Blackburn three seasons ago but never truly established himself as a starting regular. He has had 37 starts and 38 appearances from the bench, contributing two goals and five assists. He also got himself sent off three times. Many fans expected to see Phil retire with us considering he is now 36 although he wishes to continue his playing career. Harry Redknapp has spoken about offering him a role of some capacity in the coaching staff although Phil envisions a career in management instead.

Focus on battle with Man Utd now

In the meantime Leeds are set for another top four finish in the league after Chelsea suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Tottenham and are now 8 points behind us in the table. Hopefully this extra bit of security will allow the players to focus on beating Manchester United to the third place and spare us the risk of heading to the Champions League play-offs.

Nightmare weekend: Liverpool lose, Dalglish takeover under question

Things were looking up for Liverpool last week. In a few days events took a rather unpleasant U-turn and winds of uncertainty now blow at Anfield. News broke out the takeover talks between the current chairman Thomas Werner and Dalglish are close to collapse and none of the official channels in the club came out to clarify what is going on. Lack of clear view for the future transmitted on the players and they went down to Chelsea in an embarrassing loss. Kenny Dalglish wasn't present.

View attachment 358378
Press in the dark about takeover

The Daily Post reported something is wrong on Friday. An article in the paper suggested Dalglish and Werner are quite some distance apart in their respective views of the club and the deal appears to be dead in the water. Dalglish said talks are ongoing but refused a further comment. The club failed to deliver an official statement. The manager had to deal with questions about the takeover at his usual match press conference and was evidently in the dark.

Club needs to come out with a statement

Perhaps the only fortunate thing about the situation is Liverpool doesn't have much to lose in the run in. You think what's happening is bad? Imagine we were fighting for Champions League qualification. I only hope it is resolved one way or another before the transfer window opens. Otherwise the transfer embargo will threaten the pre-season and damage the next campaign.

Red Devils two wins away from Champions League qualification

Gary Neville

Published at 9:22PM, April 9 2028

I know some fans are disappointed we couldn't get closer to Newcastle and Blackburn this season and build up on last season's third place finish. Although I disagree with those claiming this is lack of progress. Let's remember there wasn't a large influx of expensive signings in the transfer windows - unlike Liverpool and Chelsea. Standing our ground to those teams is a major accomplishment on its own. In addition we have enjoyed a great European campaign so far reaching the Champions League semi final.

View attachment 358393
Devils building up on previous campaign

I think we should be reasonable with our expectations. It would be great if we can defend our third place in the league however the real success would be another top four finish and another Champions League participation in the autumn. It would repair our damaged reputation further and perhaps convince one or two big figures we are as good a place to move to as those above. Because advertising your club as a CL regular certainly has an extra drawing power.

View attachment 358392
Finish line in sight but job not done yet

To do this we only need two more wins in the final five games in the league. It might appear easy but there are some tricky games left. We have to play Crystal Palace (A), West Ham (H), Blackburn (A), Leeds (H) and Oxford (A). Hopefully the lads will have the job done in the next two games as I wouldn't want to see us head in the last three needing results.
