Blackburn (1st; 105pts; +69) - Rovers simply cannot be stopped on their way to the title. Wins against Leeds and Manchester United this month allow them to take advantage over Newcastle and they are now the big favourites to be crowned the new Premier League champions.
Player of the month: Ismail Hakan Tosun (MC) 7.94
0 Current first team injuries.
Newcastle (2nd; 100pts; +134) - the Magpies drop two points away to Chelsea and are now behind Blackburn in the title race. Even if they win their game in hand they'll need Rovers to slip in one of their final two games.
Player of the month: Pape Diédhiou (DC/DM) 8.56
1 Current first team injury:
Jim Priestley (ST) - 1-3 days (bruised rib)
Manchester United (3rd; 85pts; +52) - the Red Devils manage 12 points this month and only lose points to Blackburn. It is still not good enough to be safe in third and they will need a result against Leeds next month.
Player of the month: Abdoul Konaté (D/WBL) 7.72
5 Current first team injuries:
Raymond McFadden (DRL/WBR) - 1-5 days (torn hamstring)
Keith Sedgemore (MC) - 2 weeks (twisted ankle)
Martyn Flint (D/WBR) - 4-7 days (groin strain)
Hidde van Dijk (DRC/WBR) - 4-5 weeks (broken collarbone)
Almamy Traoré (AMR/ST) - 12-14 days (pulled hamstring)
Leeds (4th; 82pts; +40) - a loss to Blackburn and surprise draw with Oxford mean Leeds are unable to get any closer to Manchester United in third. They still have a direct clash with the Devils but must be careful as losing it may put their Champions League credentials in doubt.
Player of the month: Phillip Foose (DC) 7.56
1 Current first team injury:
Shaun Gregory (GK) - 1-4 days (fractured arm)
Chelsea (5th; 76pts; +41) - the Blues recover from an early April loss away to Tottenham and only drop further points in the draw with Newcastle. They still have a slight chance for Champions League qualification but that would require a huge chain of events.
Player of the month: Laurent Simon (AML/ST) 7.76
0 Current first team injuries.
Liverpool (6th; 69pts; +20) - loss away to Chelsea and draw at home with Leeds stop the Reds from enjoying a perfect month. They now know they can't finish below their current position in the table although their game in hand gives them a minor chance of overtaking Chelsea should results go their way.
Player of the month: Igor Gajic (DM/MC) 7.52
3 Current first team injuries:
John Schofield (MC) - 7-8 weeks (torn hamstring)
Viv Bevan (DL) - 5-10 days (torn hamstring)
Juan Gabriel Travieso (DC) - 3-5 weeks (torn hamstring)
Other teams to watch:
Tottenham (7th) - the Spurs overtake a trio of Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City to seventh but even if they keep this position it will only bring them the joy of finishing above their London rivals. Everton have taken the final Europa League quota by making it to the FA Cup final so the fight for 7th is now irrelevant.
Manchester City (8th) - the Citizens are joint on points with Tottenham and will want to edge above them for a more respectable position in the final table.
Everton (9th) - the Toffees have lost interest in the Premier League and will now focus on their forthcoming FA Cup final.
Arsenal (10th) - the Gunners have slided down the table but have a game in hand and still have a chance to overtake Spurs.
Swansea (12th) - the Swans still hold a very respectable league position. They have realized their goal of reaching 40 points and are officially safe by a great margin.
Sunderland (17th) - the Black Cats are still joint on points with Crewe and will need at least as many points as their opponents to take advantage of their superior goal difference and survive.
Crewe Alexandra, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa occupy the bottom three. Crewe and Palace are withing touching distance of safety although the Villains need wins in both their remaining games and all three teams above them to lose. Hope dies last as they say.
