FINAL SCORE:
Newcastle United 1-0 Chelsea

What a game! Newcastle had most of the chances but it still could have gone either way. Chelsea suffered a red card and missed a penalty in the dramatic end of the first half. The Magpies lost two of their wingers to injuries and never managed to grab a decisive second goal. Mashishi's first half strike was enough in the end though. Let's take a look at match stats and individual performances:

Soumbounou allowed to leave after two seasons at Anfield

Borussia Dortmund have finalized the signing of Liverpool forward Badji Soumbounou (26) for £3.9m. We have conceded a staggering loss in transfer value which suggests the previous regime was willing to spend excessive funds - Badji arrived from FC Twente for £22.5m, a fee way too large to justify a player who merely played a backup role during his career with us.

Badji Soumbounou

Soumbounou only managed 16 starts and played 20 more coming from the bench. He contributed 8 goals and 4 assists but never established himself as a regular despite showing early promise. Liverpool fans were understandably disappointed with the sale given the low fee we received although the decision to get rid was probably justified given we are well stocked with offensive players of better quality.
