Maradona injured in scuffle

maradonabruised.jpg

In a press release from the Police, they have confirmed that the man arrested at Mr Drezzy's Villa was indeed Diego Maradona.
Police said that Mr Drezzy was at home enjoying dinner, when he was disturbed from his dinner, hearing rustling noises out the back. Mr Drezzy proceeded to go to his back yard, Baseball bat in hand, to investigate.
Police said Mr Drezzy thought it may be a wild Animal looking for food, but as he exited his back door, he saw a shadow lurking in the darkness. Mr Drezzy hit the figure with the bat numerous time and then called the police.
Police said that Diego explained that he was in the Area, looking to buy a house, and had brought his new dog with him. The dog escaped, and ran into Mr Drezzy's Garden, at which point Diego gave chase. The next thing Diego knew was that he was being assaulted.
Police said no charges have been made against either man and now consider the case closed

Mr Drezzy: I'm sorry

101450.gif

Mr Drezzy has released an official statement, saying that he was sorry for Hurting Diego Maradona. He went onto add that if he knew it was him, he would have invited him in for a cup of tea. But Mr Drezzy pointed out that there were no houses for sale near him, and that no dog was ever found. He found it all very suspicious but confirmed he would not be pressing charges, and that he would give Diego the benefit of the doubt

Ouch, looks like you gave Maradona a beat down

Does that mean he'll shut his trap for a while now? XD

Nice result against Brazil

River Plate 2-0 Rosario Central

Galeano (41), Jo (80)

4349138421_388e83f72e.jpg

River Plate fans expected to win this one today, but their attention really wasn't on the match.
They were so happy they had finally beaten Boca Juniors and they were also celebrating Mr Drezzy's fight with Diego Maradona, claiming two wins out of two. When Mr Drezzy came out into the Stadium, there was a huge roar.
But back to the match, it wasn't a good game really, with River happy just to knock the ball around, with out really getting into second gear.
Galeano scored a diving header from a Piatti cross on 41 minutes, after Rosario failed to clear the ball properly, something there had been guilty of for the entire match.
River went in with the lead, and looked good for it, but it was just a 1 goal lead, Rosario could easily pull one back, and they nearly did at the start of the second half, but were denied by Romero.
It was left up to Jo to score the winner on 80 minutes, another brilliantly placed header.
River won 2-0,

Mr Drezzy just wanted to concentrate on his football, and should be happy with this two goal win

Copa Sudamericana Semi Final 1st Leg

River Plate 0 - 1 Palmeiras

Marquinhos (18)

Estadio+Monumental+Antonio+Vespucio+Liberti3.jpg

River went into the game believing they could inflict a heavy defeat on their Copa Sudamericana rivals today, but it was Palmeiras that punished them. A great free kick from Marquinhos got them a vital away goal, and they were happy to sit back and welcome River onto them.
But Palmeiras really looked dangerous on the counter, so River never committed too many players forward, with the ball getting bogged down in the midfield area.
River didn't score and now have a mountain to climb in Brazil, if they are to reach the final

cleiton-xavier-comemora-colo-436.jpg

Mr Drezzy and his River side approached this game from the wrong angle today, they'd have to get it right in Brazil or would face elimination from the cup

Maradona: I am just concentrating on the League

diego-maradona-flickr-thbj.jpg

In his first interview, and public appearance, since the incident and Drezzy's villa, Diego Maradona has come out and said that all he is thinking about is the league. He said Boca may be three points behind, but they can close the gap, with just a few games to go.
When questioned about the attack, Mr Maradona said that it was all a huge mistake, but he did mention that maybe Mr Drezzy saw him, and knew it was him, before attacking him. Maradona said he didn't fight back because of his respect for Mr Drezzy

Botafogo in the Final!

1240255717842_f.jpg

Botafogo, of Brazil, booked their place in the final of the Copa Sudamericana early tonight, beating Universidad Catolica 3-2 on aggregate. They will play the winners of the River Plate, Palmeiras match, with The Brazilians favourites to go through

Copa Sudamericana Semi Final 2nd Leg

Palmeiras (1) 1 - 2 (0) River Plate

Dante (55)

Caruzzo (16), Santa Cruz (86)

sany0111_4.jpg

River rolled their sleeves up in this game, and got stuck in straight away, trying to bully them off the ball. River managed to limit their chances on goal, but also maintained a strong attacking presence. It was Caruzzo who scored first, scoring that goal they wanted so much, after Piatti over played a cross, Jo headed back across the goal, and Caruzza volleyed the ball into the net. 1-1 on aggregate.
River kept on pushing, and after the break, they hit the bar. But Palmeiras hit them on the break, Dante finishing a lovely move to level the scores on the night and put Palmeiras ahead on aggregate. It was their first shot on target.
Palmeiras were happy to defend and River couldn't break them down, until Maicosuel was sent off for a two footed challenge. Palmeiras looked wobbly and on 86 minutes, 4 minutes before the end, Roque anta Cruz picked up the lose ball, played in Piatti who's shot his the keeper, the ball rolled back out to Santa Cruz who smashed it home. River had done it, they were through on away goals

River Celebrated after the match, with the traveling away fans. River were back into the final, and had the chance to win the trophy for the first time

Nice turn around to beat Palmeiras!

Haha Maradona sure is an *** in this story :D
Keep up the good work.

Copa Sudamericana Final 1st Leg

Botafogo 1 - 3 River Plate

Somalia (Pen 41)

Buonanotte (32)m Barrios (37), Ruben (87)

BotafogoXRiverPlate.JPG

River strolled into the final, first leg, in good form but so did Botafogo, but Botafogo couldn't make home advantage count, with the decent Buonanotte blasting in a half volley on the half hour, giving River the lead. It was in form Barrios who scored the second, a brilliant chip securing Rivers 2nd away goal.
How ever, Barrios showed he was no defender, pushing Guerreiro over in the box, with Somalia giving Botafogo some hope.
The second half was a lot tighter, with both teams refusing to give the ball away, and there were not many chances. How ever, Marco Ruben, who came on in the 79th minute gave River a 2 goal advantage, Heading home from close range. River lead 3-1 on aggregate with important away goals

River had one hand on the Trophy, with Mr Drezzy looking to become the first manager to lift the Cop Sudamericana twice in a row

Nice turn around to beat Palmeiras!

Keep up the good work.

haha yeah, Diego is causing trouble, but it adds to the Rivalry of these two teams :)

Boca: Maradona on a warning

Wellington+Phoenix+v+Boca+Juniors+Press+Conference+hMlhkaoN1yhl.jpg

Today, Boca Juniors have come out and said that Diego Maradona has been given a final warning, for his conduct in public.
Boca said they would continue to support him, and help him deal with his anger issues

Colon 2-3 River Plate

Diego Lagos (54, 57)

Barrios (7, 48, 90+2)

wpid-Col-n-de-Santa-Fe-vs-River-Plate.jpg

River faced a tricky Colon side today, looking to get the win, to keep the pressure on Boca. Lucas Barrios scored the first goal of the game, stabbing the ball home from close range. River had more chances in the first half, but they couldn't find the net again, Jo guilty of some terrible finishing.
After the break, Barrios netted his second, this time a left footed shot which just rolled into the net. River attacked again, with Jo scoring a header two minutes later, but the referee pulled play back for a previous foul. Still 2-0 to River.
Then, for the next ten minutes, Colon looked awesome, like world beaters, they tore River to schred with Lagos pulling one back with a wonder volley, leaving Romero with no chance.
Then, a few minutes later, Colon equalised, this time Lagos heading home. River couldn't believe it, but they kept their composure, and began to close the game down, and controlled play again, frustrating Colon. Two minutes into injury time, Colon suffered a lack of concentration, letting Barrios slip between the defence and netting his hat trick. River end the game as winners, 3-2, what a stunner

River were lucky to escape with the win today, they should have sealed the win before Colon got back into it

Copa Sudamericana Final 2nd Leg

River Plate (3)2 - 0(1) Botafogo

Marco Ruben (52), Barrios (69)

2043457633_2b879138b4.jpg

River had the aggregate lead, and went out to defend. Botafogo must've prepared for this because they pushed River back for the entire first half, but with Caruzzo, Galeano and Romero in brilliant form, Botafogo just could't get past them.
Their relentless attacking tired Botafogo, and in the second half, Marco Ruben slipped the ball past their keeper, virtually giving River the win. Botafogo collapsed, and on 69 minutes, Golden Boot winner, Lucas Barrios, clinched the title with a silky run and a brilliantly placed shot. River Plate had won the Copa Sudamericana for the first time ever.

Mr Drezzy had delivered continental succes to River Plate, and had become the first manager to win the Copa Sudamericana twice in a row, with two different sides

Champions of South America

river-plate-ganador-del-torneo-clausura-2008-en-argentina.jpg

These were the scenes as a jubilant River team won the Copa Sudamericana for the first time in their history. Could they continue this fine form and capture the Opening stage title too?

Estundiantes (LP) 0-4 River Plate

Saviola (5, 14), Jo (35), Buonanotte(45+1)

CLASICO.jpg

Mr Drezzy admitted the pressure was getting to him, and some thought that him changing the squad today has lead to him losing the plot, but it proved to be a fantastic decision, as River scored in the first five minutes, Saviola blasting the ball home from close range. Saviola doubled the lead on 14 minutes, when he picked off a back pass, rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the net.
Then Jo scored a trademark header on 35 minutes, placing the ball over the keeper. And then, Buoannotte made it 4-0 with a strike from 10 yards out. River had dominated the first half.
There were no more goals in the second half, River were playing keep ball, and Estudiantes were very poor

98650821.jpg

Mr Drezzy risked losing today, by totally changing his tired team, even to his tactics, but it paid off, and River Plate lead the table. If they can win their game in hand, they will move 3 points clear. Boca have one game left, and need to win, plus they need to hope River Plate lose both their remaining games

River Plate 3-1 Chacarita Jrs

Mori (12), Saviola (68, 74)

]Alustiza (87)

River%20Plate%20vs%20Chacarita%20Juniors%5B5%5D.jpg

If River win today, they could seal their first Opening Championship for a while. And it started well, as Mori made his first start of the season and scored on 12 minutes, scoring from 25 yards out. Going into the second half, Javier Saviola virtually clinched the title with a stunning 15 yard strike. The river fans were loving it. On 74 minutes, Saviola clinched his second with a header at the near post.
River had won the title, but before they could celebrate, Alustiza nicked a goal for the visitors

files.php

Mr Drezzy had done it, he had won the Opening Championship for the third time.

Maradona: Why are they celebrating?

maradona-11.jpg

Diego Maradona today asked why River Plate were celebrating a league win when it hadn't been confirmed. He stated that River needed to win their game in hand, or draw. He said if River let in 3 goals or more, then the title would be Boca's.
Diego Maradona then said it was usual for Mr Drezzy to act prematurely, like he did last month when he attacked Diego. Press officers laughed and commented that he wouldn't let the matter drop

River Plate 0-1 Olimpo

Castillon

river_olimpo_cl05.jpg

River Plate were lucky not to lose by more, but they only lost by the one and Clinched the opening title on goal difference. But Mr Drezzy will be extremely unhappy with the performance and two sendings off

27480_hp.jpg

If River hadn't of won the title, then there would have been riots, they were very poor, but they were champions and no one will remember this match

Argentine F.A: BREAKING NEWS:

argentine-fa-logo.png

After seeing River Plate lose to Olimpo, The Argentine F.A have decided that River should NOT be crowned champions, as they finished on the same points as Boca.
Instead, the two will play a Play Off game, to decide the champions, and the game will be held at the Libertadores de America

---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:05 PM ----------

Mr Drezzy: Stupid Decision

12h.jpg

Whilst River Plate fans started to cause riots in small areas of Buenos Aires today, Mr Drezzy appealed for calm, but also stated that the F.A's decision to hold a play off was disgusting, and that River were rightful champions!

---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 PM ----------

Maradona: That's the way it is

83585541.jpg

Diego Maradona was quick to reply to Mr Drezzy's rant earlier on in the day, saying that this was the way in Argentina, that Argentina needed a true champion, not one decided on goal difference.
he went on to add that the reason Mr Drezzy may be a little upset is the fact that Mr Drezzy knows his side will not beat Boca.
Maradona also added that it was Boca's destiny to lift the title, events over the season had proven this. Maradona also suggested that if River were to lose, then Maybe Mr Drezzy should leave
