Saturday 25TH of June.
Today i woke and my first thought was Fulham. They'd hadn't said anything about the managerial Spot for 3 days. I thought maybe they went with someone else. So i had some weetabix, got changed and went down to my nearest post office to see if there was anything in the newspapers. There was a picture of the Fulham badge on the front, so i brought the newspaper and went to sit in a Café to read it.
When i got there, i ordered a Bacon sandwich and took a seat. It said, Turn To Page 45, so i did. Went i got to page my heart stopped. The Head Line was 'Fulham go with experience'. As soon as i read that, i knew it wasn't me. It was Chris Coleman, formally of Coventry City who took the job. I read through it, and the press were now linking me with the Coventry Job. But am i set for another Heartbreak? If i do apply to the Coventry Job, Would they just laugh at me?
Later when i got home, i had two telephone calls. So i sat down and listened to them. To My amazement, One of them was Peter Storie, Director of Portsmouth FC. He rang up to invite me to Portsmouth for an interview. I was so excited that i didn't even bother listening to the second one. I rang my Misses straight away. When i was talking to her, i went on to say how it was close to our current location, and i could just drive there and back daily. But once again, she pointed out a very good reason why i shouldn't go there, The money.. And yes, it was true. Portsmouth Had money problems. Sometimes they couldn't even pay there manager. I was not willing to do a job, and not get payed. When my Misses got back, I rang Peter back, and i couldn't bring myself to reject it. I said 'Can i delay it a week?' Obviously Peter said 'Yes, Course you can'. God i got a bollocking from the Misses.
But, i can't stop thinking about this Coventry job. I would love it up there. I've always admired the way they play football and how they run there club. Playing 23 games a season infront of a possible 32,000. Wasn't that every managers dream? It was between Moneyless Portsmouth, Or the Fancy life in Coventry. Family Or Heart. Reading & Coventry are 72 miles apart. Is that driving distance? Between Reading & Portsmouth there only 42...

I usually hates flights. But this had a new sense to it. I knew that this flight down to Spain wasn't just your everyday holiday. I was going there for a reason. We arrived at the airport and showed our passports to the lady at the reception who took our suitcases. Sarah's was packed to last a year. Mine on the other hand just had my 'Interview Suit' and all the rest that comes with it.
Eventually we got onto the plane, after a couple of hours of waiting. We had the seats right at the back of the plane, so plenty of room for my legs to perch up and play on Football Manager Handheld. I started a season with Valladolid, just to see what the players were like, i mean FM never usually gets much wrong. I even created my desired tactic. But i wasn't getting carried away. i just wanted the job! I off course was demoloshing the league. Signing just one player, Tim Sparv, maybe I'd make him my first signing i told Sarah. She just kept browsing through her ASOS magazine.
A Very Quick Flight.
I hated long flights, so it was a good job this one flew by. They put a few films us such as Shrek 2 and Toy Story 3 which kept my spirit high. When we got of the plane we immediatly got a taxi to our Hotel, which was just outside of Valladollid. It was a very nice town, very.

I'd left Sarah at the hotel. I turned up and was shocked by the size off this place. What was a team of this stature doing in the 2nd division of Spanish football. It should be playing Barca & Madrid.
I went into the reception and said i was here to see Carlos for my interview. The lady smiled at me and said "you must be the one". She was speaking to me on the way up about how well this club was run, and it needs a good British manager to get them back into the top flight. She said something like i was the last piece of the jigsaw.
The receptionist left me at the Chairmans door. I knocked a few times and stood there all nice in my suit. I was stressing over my tie so Sarah just gave me a plain Blue one. Carlos answered the door. He was wearing his Valladolid shirt. I was expected something posh.
I'd taken a seat and he began to talk about how pleased he is to welcome me here. And we began on the topic off
My Life.
I told him that i'd had a bad luck with my playing career, but he'd said he'd remembered watching me for Blackpool on the BBC. I told him what i wanted from this club and that i wanted to get them back into the top flight. No matter what the budget i wanted them back into the top flight. My words were simple and, i think they worked.
He stopped me short off my waffling and he said. " Do you want the job"
I sat there in shock, I'd come with all my interview arrangements and thought this out so much. Obviously i wasn't complaining.
"Yes, indeed i would want the job"
"Well, you'll be starting Monday"
"Isn't that abit soon, i need to find a new house"
"We have that sorted for you, take a look at this photo, we've got you a house just outside town"
"WOW"
"Yes, It's a very nice place, here are you keys, and my director will be taking you to your place"
"I look foward to seeing you on Monday were we sign some papers"
He showed me the door with a smile. I couldn't quite believe what was happening. I kept thinking i should maybe wake up. But after a few pinches i realised this was real, and what i wanted in life.
I rang Sarah and told her the news. She dropped the phone and started cheering. I said to her "You haven't seen the house yet, Its massive"
I couldnt wait to see the papers.

Monday 27ND OF June & Tuesday The 28TH
While the kids and Jessica were out at the park. I thought i was time to check my emails and watch abit of Sky Sports News. When i turnt on Sky Sports News, There was some coverage of the Golf one. I'm not a fan of golf, but i watched through. When i got onto my email site. I put in my password and it took what seemed a year to load. When i got on it said i'd received 1 new message. The message was from Coventry Football Club. When i opened the message. It said that they want to meet me in person to see if we can work out a contract to get me to the Ricoh. The letter must of took about, 30-1 Hour to write so it took a while to read. When i finished reading it. I ran down to the park to tell Jessica.
When i got to the park, There were children everywhere. I couldn't spot out my own. But luckily for me, i saw Jessica on a bench. I went over to her and said "Darling, I've been pretty much offered the Coventry Job". At first she didn't like the idea of moving. But within 10 minutes of silence between the both of us, She grew to the idea. She told me that she had a fight with the Headteacher of the School the kids were moving too and she thought they might be scaped-goated by the teachers due to that. I went on to tell her that they wanted to see me, in person on the 2ND, The day Portsmouth wanted to see me. Jessica said, That she would rather move up to Coventry than Portsmouth. I started to think i was talking to the wrong person..
When i got back home. I replied to the Email from Coventry saying 'Yes, i would love to come and see you on the 2ND. Many Thanks, Daniel Jones'. In the evening me & Jessica told the kids that on the 2ND i had a job interview with Coventry Football Club. They were all for it. They went upstairs to tell there mates on 'MSN'. Then Me & Jessica started talking about the Club emailing me. Maybe it was a joke from some kids? We Rang them, and thankfully they confirmed that it was the Club emailing. Apparently they email because it saves time. Not everyone checks there emails. Luckily i did.
The next day like always, i walked down to the Post Office to get a newspaper. The front page had the title 'BRING OUR BOYS HOME' referring to the War in IRAQ. The back page was all i was interested in. The Football Section! The back page title was 'SILVA MAKES CITY MOVE'. I started reading it, and out the corner of my eye, i saw a little paragraph at the side of the page saying 'Jones Set For Coventry?' Say that i was set to sign for Coventry on the 2ND like was planned. I was baffled how the paper knew about this so once again i rang up the club. It seemed that the Chairman was caught writing up some Contracts that said 'DANIEL JONES' on the back. Maybe this is my Job to loose..
When i looked on the internet later that night. I Was looking through BBC Sport and there was also a section about me on there. It was on about how i was attracting so many clubs, perhaps i was an upcoming Great manager. I suppose time will tell..
