February update on the way

February

We're gathering momentum and we are incredibly hard to beat this season. The defence is coping very well and our organisation is fantastic, we need to try and get the midfield being more expansive across the pitch because we are a little one dimensional with our play at times.

We were comfortably beaten today and we never really looked like scoring, especially after Matic got himself sent off early into the second half. They've taken 4 points off us this season so fair play to them. This is a big kick up the backside.

Rhys Murphy netted a brace as we comfortably beat Hull today. We controlled the game and had very long periods of domination. After
Rhys Murphy put us ahead Vincenzo Rennella sweeped it home from close range to seal the win before Murphy popped up again to add insult to injury.

After playing them and knocking them out of the Carling Cup we knew they would be out for revenge and they didn't dissapoint. They came at us hard with a lot of intent but we pegged them back for long spells aswell. Neither team could find a goal and the play was disrupted with a lot of fouling.

Dissapointing, we let them control the game today which is dissapointing as we have shown we can beat this team. They deservedly went ahead before who else but Rhys Murphy equalised but the beast Milevskyi struck a stunner with 15 minutes to go.

Another draw. We have struggled to score goals this month and it continued today, though the never really threatened us. We had a lot of possession but we just couldn't seem to pick out the pass or player that would get us the goal we needed.

Murphy for England?

A question that has been on many pundits lips. Does
Rhys Murphy deserve an England call up? He has netted 10 goals in 8 domestic cup appearances alone and has got 10 premier league goals which is just as much as he got last term. Brentford boss Dean Neeson believes he deserves a chance.

"Rhys really is a great player. I have yet to see a current British striker who can finish aswell as him, he is absolutely clinical and has more composure than most. If he keeps up his good form I think it will be a travesty if the lad doesn't even get a chance. Rhys and Tomas (Necid) have been so strong for us this season and there's no doubt they are getting the best out of eachother"

Monthly Overview

It's been a very odd month we won 1, drew 2 and lost 1 in the league which has been due to our lack of scoring. We have defended very well throughout the season but there were times in those games where we just didn't seem to have the vision to create the openings.

The FA cup exit was dissapointing but the Carling Cup has been plaguing our minds and maybe it has affected our results but we are ready. Our next match is at Wembley and we know a lot about Burnley, should be a cracker.

It's time to finally bring some glory to Griffin Park.

Thanks mate :)

and nah we have **** all in the youth. our training and youth facilities are still only "adequate" which is shocking for a premier league club. Ive had players turn me down because the facilities at their club are better.

I've asked for them both to be improved and the board have said yes but there has been no announcement or anything so Im waiting on it.

Come Dean, fact it is is against Burnley should give you a fantastic chance for silverware, let the Bee's bring it home ;)

yeah to be honest we've had a kind draw so far but Villa over two legs was difficult.

Ive played the final now the result will be in the next update :)

Chuuuuuuchooooo again (A)

He's just too good :)
Good luck in the final mate :D

Yeah good luck Deano cannot wait for the update!!

I have FINALLY managed to update my Vale story! I have been working on Accounting all night and I managed to just cram it in if you wanna have a look and maybe comment on reccomended players or improvements to the story?

The eve of the cup final and the biggest day in Brentford FC's history is about to take place, well only if we win that is. Some may think the Carling Cup is modest but it is still a major cup and would be more than welcome in our almost empty trophy cabinet.

Brentford Team Talk

"Alright lads, this is now the time to stamp down our mark in Football. This club has had no real success ever and everything we've been working for is all in this match

Forget the league for now, forget the other times we have played Burnley it's all on this. Carlos Vela needs to marked tightly all game he gets in behind so we to cancel him out do not push too high up.

You all know what you need to do, this is a chance to make yourselves part of history. Win this and next stop is Europe."

33 Minutes

Burnley 1 Brentford 0

Burnley took a deserved lead in a half they dominated through
Yassine El Ghannassy's low driven strike which was a result of some poor Brentford defending from a Chris Eagles corner. 1 -0. Brentford were very poor throughout the first half but a bit of magic from the triad (Necid, Murphy, Rennella) that has scored the majority of Brentford's goals once again strung a superb move together.

45 Minutes

Burnley 1 Brentford 1

Lars Stubhaug took a long goal kick that Rhs Murphy manages to latch on to, he skins
Joseph Yobo before cutting it back to Tomas Necid who brings it forward straight away with the Burnley defence backing off he knocks a lovely through ball over the top to the clinical Vincenzo Rennella who smashes it home. 1-1.

Half time Team Talk

"What the **** are you lot playing at? We're lucky we're not 3-0 down for ***** sake. Matt (Kilgallon) get your head out of your **** and man mark what were you playing at?

Rhys I want you to get in behind the defence, why are you playing down the channels? They're a big bunch but they're slow, up the tempo and Sebastian (Rudy) run forward more, you're too deep and we're getting isolated up top.

Maintain the discipline, we are better than them. Come on."

Brentford came out for the second half with far more intent and the main outlet for this was RB Seamus Coleman who was a constant threat down the right flank throughout the entire second half.

52 Minutes

Burnley 1 Brentford 2

Coleman takes the ball forward and skins
Brian Easton. Coleman again beat another player showing David Edgar a clean set of heels before drilling a low driven cross for Sebastian Rudy to sweep home! 2-1.

Matthew Kilgallon plays a first time ball to Sebastian Rudy. He moves forward with the ball before playing an inch perfect ball for Tomas Necid who is in acres of space, Necid takes it down beautifully before being hacked down by Jospeh Yobo. PENALTY! Easy decision for the referee to make.

62 Minutes

Burnley 1 Brentford 3

Anthony Vanden Borre looks collected as he steps up to strike it......
GOAL! Smashed into the top left corner of the goal. Game over perhaps? 3-1.

75 Minutes

Sebastian Rudy was terrorising the Burnley defence time after time, he beats Caldwell with ease before drawing a foul from the same player who had seeingly got up just to take him down Steven Caldwell. This is Rhys Murphy's territory, though not an outstanding free kick taker the Carling Cup's top scorer has scored many in his Brentford career and looked very confident as he stepped up to take it.

....MURPHY!

Murphy bent the free kick into the bottom right hand side of the goal and all the Brentford fans were already celebrating. It would take a miracle for them to lose now, fingertips away from a first major honour for Brentford.

Burnley 1 Brentford 4

89 Minutes

Brian Easton got some revenge on Seamus Coleman by dribbling it past him and unleashing a fantastic cross for Kevin McDonald to head home. Nothing more than a consolation here.

Burnley 2 Brentford 4

Carling Cup Winners 2013-2014 - Brentford FC

View attachment 33576

The final whistle was greated by a majority of cheers from an attendance of 90,000. This was the biggest day in Brentford's history and it was an unbelievable achievment considering they were in League 1 five years ago and had a debt 3 times the valuation of the club, The club is now almost effectively debt free and is now worth 25 times more than it did when Neeson arrived at Griffin Park.

Carling Cup top scorer Rhys Murphy and Man Of the Match Sebastian Rudy were elated when they spoke to Sky Sports News.

View attachment 33577

Rhys Murphy: "It's amazing. Playing in front of a crowd of 90,000, I never thought I'd get a chance to play at Wembley so to win a trophy here is something. Proudest day of my life."

Brentford boss Dean Neeson was soaked in champagne when we spoke to him but the pure elation on his face was so great it was easy to see he didn't care.

"We were woeful in the first half but we managed to knick a goal right at the end which gave us a away back in the game. We really turned it up in the second half and battered them. They couldn't get out of their half at times and we just kept opening them up after we took the lead.

I'm so proud of the lads and in the way they responded, they showed a real desire to win this match and bring the trophy home for the fans. They deserve it more than anyone else, especially those who have been following the club for years and hasn't got to see the club win enough trophies. It's a proud day in my career."

When asked about the recent speculation linking him with the Tottenham job Neeson was very open about his feelings towards the speculation

"I've heard nothing and I don't want to. I'm happy here, I've grown up around this area, my wife and my son both love where we live, I could not be happier. I love this club and the amazig support we have. The players I have persuaded to join and all the staff aswell I could never leave, It is all speculation

All we need to do now is try and finish off the season well with a higher point total than last year and hopefully we'll get a top half finish. The greatest season in the clubs history so far."
