Chelsea Logo.png

Chelsea FC owner Didier Drogba has said he is 'happy' with Frank Lampard following the clubs 4th placed Premier League finish. Drogba said he was pleased by the fact that Chelsea managed to turn around a 7th placed position in January to make it in to the Champions League spots. He expressed that he was delighted with the way the players performed and said they were 'unlucky' not to have finished higher.

Player of the Season - Frenkie De Jong
Young Player of the Season - Callum Hudson-Odoi
Must Improve - Tammy Abraham

Drogba also announced the clubs first new signing, arriving for 83 million from Atletico Madrid

- JOAO FELIX -
Joao Felix.jpg

Joao Felix put pen to paper on a 5-year-deal worth up to 1.25 million pounds. The fans are delighted with the deal and believe that they have nabbed a bargain. Felix has been doing a terrific job in his first two seasons with Atletico and Chelsea will be hoping that he can replicate that form and bring it into the Premier League.

lEICESTER.jpg

New Era at Leicester City.

Former Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage has funded a bid for the club and now owns the majority of shares. Robbie will be taking over the day to day running of the club. In a brief statement Robbie had the following to say:
savage.jpg

"This club is one of the best in England but for the past few seasons they have been going backwards, its about time someone changed that. I have the footballing knowledge and the connections to turn the fortunes of this club around. We are currently without a manager and with a squad that is thin on the grounds. My team and I will be working hard for the next few days to sort both of these issues. We would like to bring in a manager to play attractive football and obviously supply him with the best players available for this to happen."

Marcelo Bielsa new Foxs manager

Savage has been working hard in the first few hours of his reign, he promised a new manager, and he has delivered in the form of eccentric manager Marcelo Bielsa. Bielsa will bring a certain intensity and footballing style to the King Power stadium, one which the fans are sure to be excited about.

CANARIES ANNOUNCE GUNNER DOUBLE-SWOOP

1589642887188.png

Martinelli arrives on a season-long loan. Martinelli won Young Player of the Year last year whilst on loan to Aston Villa in the Championship and Mikel Arteta thought he'd be a perfect fit as an option to lead the line. Granit Xhaka has arrived permanently for just £5M after falling out of favour under new ownership. Granit Xhaka is a fantastic midfielder who will add depth to the centre of the park and after being available for such a cheap fee, he seemed an obvious option.

Brighton Managerial Circus-
Howe.jpg

Eddie Howe's contract as not been extended beyond his caretaker position at the end of the season - Eddie Howe was put in charge in January On a caretaker basis until the end of the season, Despite steering Brighton away from relegation the Brighton board have decided not to extend his contract so his Caretaker position in charge of the club has been de-established.

Mourinho.jpg

Jose Mourinho returns to his position after finishing his break from football. Tensions have eased betwen the board and Mourinho, he is now the man back in charge to continue building brighton into a premier league established team while keeping the finances in the green- That is the only ambition of this board. They also believe her will be the man to get the best out of Joshue Zirkzee, and man the Brighton board believe will carry them into the top half

Zirkzee.jpg

Joshua Zirkzee finished with 7 Premier league goals last season, A decent return for a team boxed in their own half most of the season.

romero.jpg

Christian Romero was the star player at the heart of defence for Brighton, they have made the transfer permanent for free over the summer, Possibly the best coup in the clubs history

TOP PREMIER LEAGUE MOVES

Top Transfers.JPG

Well that is the 3rd season underway and all the chairman have been very active this window, with a transfer imbargo being brought in from the next window for those teams that are over £40m in the red, so there maybe some teams doing a lot less transfer activity in the future.

CHAIRMAN MOVES
Now on to the meat of the window as we look at some of the big moves. Some chairman were busy this window, none so other than Chelsea chairman @TheMaestro who did not make many moves but did make the 2 biggest moves by a chairman, spending £299m on Luka Jovic from Real Madrid and Imran Louza from Milan. After that, Everton chairman @Abdul2604 was busy once again wheeling and dealing like a modern day Del Boy. He decided to make a move for the transfer listed Kai Kavertz (which surprisingly, was the only chairman to go for him) and managed to get him for £69m. Man City chairman @georgetopper splashed out £69m on Ajax fullback Sergino Dest while Sheff Utd made the surprising move signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig who was transfer listed for £57m. The final one to note was the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo by Liverpool for £53m.

MANAGER MOVES
There was some big moves by manager of each club this window. There will be some that will annoy chairman as well as some that will be to the delight of some chairman. Man City manager Pep signed Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona for £108m while Klopp went out and spent £93m on Real Madrid defensive midfielder Federico Velverde. Chelsea manager Lampard also brought a striker into the club signing Joao Felix from Athletico Madrid for £83m. I think @georgetopper will be happy with the transfer made by Pep as he also signs Nicolas Tagliafico, Eduardo Camavinga and Nikola Milenkovic for a combined £93m. @SVR27 ill also be happy with the signing of central midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus for £64m. Finally Arthur joins Tottenham from Barcelona for £62m.

TRANSFERS OUT / MANAGER TO MANAGER MOVES
There was some interesting moves this window by managers of clubs who were left to their own devices. The first club being Arsenal, ran by @Crayth with the club selling Leon Bailey for £80m to Barcelona. But the selling did not stop for Arsenal who also shipped out Memphis Depay to Athletico Madrid for £57m (do Arsenal just not like having any forwards!!). With Pep bringing in 4 top quality players this window, few had to be sacrificed which sees Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo both leave to join PSG for a combined £110.5m. Although the club do not yet have a chairman, Wolves finally see Ruben Neves leave the club to join Bayern Munich for £54m

Now on to the manager to manager moves which are always interesting. Arsenal made a move to replace those sold by raiding Burnley, who have a new chairman @andytrfc90 , to sign young wonderkid Yari Verschaeren for £75m. But the main shock for this window has to be Erling Haaland joining Man Utd for just £66m which is sure to annoy @Abdul2604 but bring delight to @SVR27 (I checked and there was no release clause). This was likely a move to try and balance the books for the season ahead. Another thing to note was Man Utd also signed Moussa Dembele from Blackurn for £35.5m. The final 2 were moves for right backs. Max Aarons leaves Norwich to join Tottenham for £66m while James Justin leaves Leicester to join Watford for £40m.

NOVEMBER 2021 UPDATE

01 - PL Table.JPG

Well it is business as usual as Man City and Liverpool find themselves the top 2 of the league. Chelsea are 3rd with surprising Brighton and Leicester both 4th and 5th respectively. Tottenham seem to be struggling down in 10th while Everton continue to not live up to expectations in 11th (Is it time for Zidane to get the boot?). Down at the foot of the table, Blackburn are really struggling this year losing 9 of their 11 games while Watford and Aston Villa occupy the other 2 spots. Burnley find themselves just above the relegation zone after a strong season last year.

01 - Premier League Stats.JPG

May come as a surprise to see the top scorer being Joao Pedro of Watford who find themselves in 19th. Man Utd have gone 4-4-2 and currently have 12 goals between their front two but look to be conceding too many to join Man City and Liverpool.

EFL Championship Banner.png

02 - Championship Table.JPG

Well things do not seem as straight forward for chairman clubs this season compared to last as we see newly owned chairman club West Ham in 6th after a poor run of form and Crystal Palace lingering down in 13th. A club that are up for sale for a chairman to take over, Huddersfield, find themselves currently in 5th.

02 - Championship Stats.JPG

Carabao-Cup-Logo.png

03 - Carabao Cup QF.JPG

Few surprising teams still in this competition. Crawley are the big surprise, beating West Ham in the last 16 to add more misery to the poor run. Cardiff are also still in the mix as another team not in the premier league to still be in the competition.

Champions League.jpg

04 - Champions League 01.JPG

04 - Champions League 02.JPG

All chairman clubs still within a chance of qualifying but not as straight forward as in previous years with some finding themselves outside of the top two and a mountain to climb in the final 3 games.

Europa League Logo.jpg

05 - Europa League 01 (Only 8 instead of 12 groups).JPG

There looks to have been a format change in this years' Europa League. There are now only 8 groups instead of 12. Top 2 still qualify however there has also been a change to the knockout rounds. All group runner ups are drawn against the 3rd place finishers of the champions league while group winners get a bye into the last 16.

But things look comfortable for the premier league teams this year as Arsenal and Watford currently occupy top spots in both of their groups.

NOVEMBER TO JANUARY WINDOW UPDATE
PL Logo.png
01 - PL Table.JPG

Well Man City continue to lead the way with a 4 point gap over Liverpool who are closely followed by Chelsea, Brighton and Man Utd (WOW Brighton @Anderson883 ). There is then an 8 point gap to 6th placed Norwich with Arteta doing a great job still. Everyon have improved to 7th while Arsenal slip to 8th. Still no improvement by Tottenham who find themselves in 11th. Blackburn are really struggling now with only 9 points in 20 games and 8 points from safety at the half way stage. Aston Villa still occupy a relegation slot but Watford have hit a great run of form with 13 points from 15 and move up to 14th.

02 - PL Stats.JPG

Both Man Utd Strikers continue to dominate scoring 41 of United's 43. Dominic Livakovic looks to be a brilliant signing for Norwich also.

EFL Championship Banner.png

01 - Championship Table.JPG

West Ham have now made headway as they top the championship but one 1 point separates the top 4. Crystal Palace have improved slightly to 9th while Huddersfield have slipped down to 11th.

The draw for the first knockout rounds contain no chairman clubs but surprisingly does include Bayer Munich who fail to get out of their champions league group.

Both Arsenal and Watford both top their groups and make it through straight to the last 16.

STEPHEN FRY WINS CHAIRMAN OF THE YEAR

1589849311742.png

Stephen Fry has today announced he is delighted to have won the first Chairman of the Year award. The Norwich Chairman won the award after a brilliant year building on their success of their first year at the helm of his beloved Norwich City. They've managed to assemble a very strong Premier League squad whilst staying within budget and ensuring that they don't encounter financial difficulty. A lot of this has been down to Mikel Arteta whom the club appointed upon taking over.

"Mikel has done an unbelievable job and we've been shown to have made the correct decision by backing him in the transfer market. I couldn't be happier with the way he has led the team and look forward to more impressive displays in the recent future."

Norwich currently sit above the likes of Arsenal in the Premier League and will be aiming at breaking into the Top 6 this season.
