Chelsea vs. Liverpool
Stamford Bridge, London
FA Cup 6th Round, KO 12:45

Live Text Commentary

12:08: Welcome to the Bridge for the 6th Round of the FA Cup. Chelsea and Liverpool have a brilliant recent history in cup competitions, and hopefully this game will not dissapoint.
12:12: Liverpool and Chelsea are two of the in-form teams at the moment, and Liverpool are coming close to pipping Manchester City to 2nd. All of this means that this game has a lot of meaning to both teams.
12:27: Chelsea have thrown in a few surprises today. Juliano Belletti replaces Bosingwa, most likely in a bid to save his energy for the Inter Milan game. Michael Ballack also replaces Essien.
Chelsea: Cech, Belletti, Zhirkov, Terry, Alex, Mikel, Ballack, Lampard, Deco, Anelka, Drogba
12:45: We're off in this match.
12:47: Oooh la la, when he's on form he doesn't hold back. Chelsea play a neat little move through the middle, and Drogba is released but his shot cannons off the bar.
12:49: Belletti swings in a lovely ball to the far post and Lampard gets his head on it, but Reina saves well.
13:01: Babel, the player who doomed Chelsea to their first loss under Illyroy, finds good space in the box, but Cech does well to save.
13:05: GOAL Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool It's come against the run of play, and it's a horrendous mistake from Mikel. Cech picks a long ball out of the air comfortably and throws it to Mikel who passes it back to where he thinks is Terry. Voronin of all people comes in and slams it into the empty net.
13:09: Drogba gets a lovely header through from a Lampard cross and it has to be cleared off the line by Daniel Agger. Lovely improvisation from the striker there.
13:19: Wonderful stuff, but no finish again. Drogba is played in, and he ***** it round Agger for Anelka who's shot is saved, and Drogba comes in on the rebound but hits it agonisingly past the post.
13:32: HALF TIME Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool Chelsea have definitely had the better of the two sides, but go in a goal down after that horrendous mistake. Lot of work on this game now.
13:45: Second half is underway, and Joe Cole replaces Deco.
13:46: Belletti heads just over from a great cross by Zhirkov.
13:58: GOAL Chelsea 1 - 1 Liverpool Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Mikel plays a cross square to Anelka, and he turns to shoot, but his shot is saved. The ball is parried out to Juliano Belletti and he hits an absolute screamer into the roof of Reina's net. Brilliant goal from the Brazillian. Sturridge replaces the injured Anelka.
14:03: It's Lampard going close now. He hits a nice low shot towards the near post, but Reina gets down very well to block it.
14:30: FULL TIME Chelsea 1 - 1 Liverpool Well they might have pushed on and won it, but Chelsea pull back a reply. Liverpool lucky to get anything out of the game, but they will now have confidence going into the replay that they can get something. Worrying for Chelsea is that Mikel will now be out of the Inter game after suffering an injury today. Stay with us, Inter's on it's way!

Belletti and Ballack celebrate his wonderful finish.

Live Text Commentary

19:10: Chelsea have a lot to do to save this tie. They've been wasteful of late going forward, and will need to make sure they take absolutely any chance that comes their way.
19:18: It would appear that Chelsea are going with a diamond formation, but with Sanchez and Zhirkov going on the wide of the diamond, it would mean that they are going for width over their normal formation.
19:25: Here's the team for this big game then:
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, A. Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Zhirkov, Sanchez, Lampard, Kalou, Drogba
Kalou deserves the start in my opinion, he has been an under-rated gem of this campaign.
19:45: They're all ready at Stamford Bridge, and Mourinho is given a roar by the Chelsea fans. Wonder how loud they'll be after this game..
19:49: Ivanovic plays in Kalou and he gets a good shot away, but Cesar is equal with it.
19:50: Ohhhhh and Carvalho has a header cleared off the line. He's a real threat from corners. Zhirkov swings it in and he gets a head to it, but Diego Milito is on the line to clear away.
20:07: And the crowd are all on their feet as Lampard draws Chelsea level. But the assistant linesman on the side has other ideas and gives a free kick for offside.
20:10: GOAL Chelsea 0 - 1 Inter Milan And out of nothing, Chelsea have to now score three goals to qualify. Sneijder crosses the ball into the box and it hits Ivanovic and he scores the most unfortunate of own goals.
20:30: HALF TIME (0) Chelsea 0 - 1 Inter Milan (2) So unfortunate for Chelsea. They have a goal wrongly disallowed for offside, and then an own goal to top things off. Would have to be one **** of a turn around to save this game.
20:45: We're underway once more at the Bridge.
21:00: Time running out for Chelsea and they're doing very little here. Drogba picks up a knock and has to be replaced by Demba Ba, and Joe Cole comes on for Lampard.
21:02: Ba makes an immediate impact, bringing Zhirkov into play with a wonderful flick, but his shot is saved by an inspired Julio Cesar.
21:10: Let's face it, it just isn't Chelsea's day at all. Zhirkov plays a wonderful cross and Carvalho meets it, only to see it hit the post, come down to the line, and be cleared by Cordoba. Can you get any closer than that?
21:11: The commentator has just said "Inter seem unable to cope with Chelsea at the moment". That emphasizes how much Chelsea are dominating, but they aren't taking their chances. Ba heads over Sanchez's corner.
21:30: FULL TIME (0) Chelsea 0 - 1 Inter Milan (2) Jose Mourinho's men edge this tie, but Chelsea will feel very hard done by. That goal by Lampard in the first half was definitely onside, there can be no doubt about it, and I can't help but think Chelsea would have gone on to win it. It's a big blow because they dominated the game, but will pay sorely for missed opportunities.
They are now only in the FA Cup and Premier League, but there will be a chance for revenge no doubt either next season, or the season after.

Lampard after his goal was wrongly disallowed.

Special thanks to shootie for an excellent tactic, my boys just didn't come through on the day, but we really played them up. Had I had that in the first leg, that game would have been in the bag.

Chelsea 0 - 0 Tottenham
Tottenham+Hotspur+v+Manchester+City+Premier+cgYtfoCYPiql.jpg

Chelsea dropped two vital points at Stamford Bridge against a Tottenham side that offered very little, with goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes on form.

They will be disappointed at not getting anything after dominating the game, but they can't expect much more if they do not start to take chances when they come to them, as there were a number.

Lampard began the game at the tip of the diamond, but he looked bright at the beginning of the game, as he set Ba up with a good opportunity, but the shot was wasted.

Drogba then saw his shot smash off the crossbar, after some good solo work to make space outside the box.

In the second half, Sanchez came on and played at the tip of the diamond, and began to wreak havoc, but his goalscoring prowess was never one of his greater assets, and he spurned a very good opportunity with 20 minutes to go.

Kalou also had a goal disallowed, but there can be no doubt that Drogba was offside when he chipped the ball over to him.

Liverpool have climbed up to second now, and after this draw, are only 5 points behind league leaders Chelsea with 8 games to go.

Liverpool 0 - 1 Chelsea
FA Cup 6th Round Replay
_46692044_terry.jpg

Chelsea made the semi-finals of the FA Cup today after knocking out Liverpool in a very close contest at Anfield.

And in all fairness, it was probably Liverpool who had the better of the game out of the two teams, dominating possession and getting a number of chances, but mostly half chances.

Babel and Gerrard both threatened from range, and Kuyt also missed a guilt-ached chance in the first half which may have changed the game.

But Chelsea had clearly set out their stalls to defend with their 4-5-1 formation, and they countered threateningly on a number of occasions, and maybe should have scored from these in the first half when Zhirkov found himself one on one, but he couldn't find the finish.

In the second half, things stayed the same, until Zhirkov whipped in a corner which John Terry, unmarked, headed home to send the Chelsea section of Anfield into raptures.

He was having a great game, but Torres sprang into life after that goal, and seconds later, Liverpool would have been level if it weren't for a wonderful save by Petr Cech.

Liverpool kept up the pressure, but Chelsea soaked it in before countering time and again, and they held on impressively to seal their place in the next round against Aston Villa, with their aim of retaining the trophy still firmly in tact.

West Ham 1 - 3 Chelsea
x250.jpg

The scoreline was a just one in the end, as Chelsea just edged a fiery London derby this evening to go 7 points clear, although Liverpool have a game in hand.

Ashley Cole got Chelsea off to a flyer, when he volleyed in a wonderful shot early on to give them a 1-0 lead.

And minutes later, Frank Lampard found enough space for a shot before hammering home a 25 yarder, and Upton Park rang out with boos for the former West Ham man, who always manages to grab a goal there.

But things looked like they could turn sour when Upson headed in a wonderful Jimenez free-kick - Chelsea's first goal conceded in the league in an incredible 10 games!

Chelsea made a few changes, with Zhirkov being replaced by Sanchez, and he missed a very good chance, shooting wide, when he had better options in the middle, after Chelsea countered a West Ham corner.

But Kalou finally poked in the winner in injury time from a Lampard corner to seal all 3 points for the Blues. West Ham once again proved stern opposition for Chelsea though, and this could prove to be a very vital win.

Gutting, the results against Inter. Think you have good chances in winning the league though. Hope i didn´t jinx it now lol.

CHELSEA'S JACK RODWELL MAKES ENGLAND DEBUT AGAINST ISRAEL

19 year old Jack Rodwell made his England debut against Israel this week and has said that he is determined to cement a place in the squad over the next few weeks in an attempt to make it to the World Cup semi-finals this season.

He has played a number of games for Chelsea this season, and although not considered a regular yet, he has performed very well when coming on and has scored a couple of goals to boot.

Chelsea 2 - 0 Hull
essien_rise_516x350_67326a.jpg

Chelsea piled the problems on for Hull as they now lie 9 points into the relegation zone, and it's not looking good for them.

But as for Chelsea, with Manchester City and Liverpool having drawn against each other thanks to a 90th minute equaliser by Pablo Zabaleta, it's looking peachy in terms of winning their first Premier League trophy in 5 years.

Chelsea didn't take long to settle, and put in a very professional performance, playing some lovely football, with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation being brought in to dominate a very average Hull side.

And Essien stabbed in the first goal of the game to give Chelsea the lead from a corner, which Boaz Myhill saved very well initially, but had no chance the second time as Essien tapped into an empty goal.

Salomon Kalou continued his brilliant goalscoring record this season by finishing coolly for his second, after being well played in by Demba Ba. It's really been his season this year, and he's finally showing the potential that made Chelsea shell out 6m for him.

Demba Ba had an opportunity to wrap things up nicely, but his confidence is rock bottom at the moment in front of goal, and he just couldn't find the finish.

glad to see you're enjoying it. think it's the first time you've commented so hope you've managed to catch up with my season and will continue reading :)

Everton 1 - 0 Chelsea
Billy-celeb_2399298.jpg

Chelsea lost their first league game in 15 matches today, after a dire performance.

Before the game, Deco came out in public claiming that he wasn't getting enough games for the Chelsea side and that he was considering his future. After his performance today, I'm sure most Chelsea fans wouldn't mind seeing the back of him.

In all fairness, he wasn't all to blame, but Chelsea were very blunt going forward, and considering the amount of talent they have up front, they will have to shoulder the brunt of the blame, as the defence put in another performance.

All credit to Everton, who have beaten Chelsea now home and away, as they gave a very good performance, and thoroughly deserved their lead in the second half, when James Vaughan found space down the right side before crossing to Bilyaletdinov who passed home.

But Chelsea cannot afford to be complacent at this late stage, as it will be the next few matches that will make the difference.

I love reading this story your commentary on matches is like it's real it's that good.

Sorry but i'm gonna use your idea on commentary for matches on my Torquay story , but i'm only gonna do it on important matches not all of them as I don't have the time. (6)

Unlucky about the Inter result mate.

yeah that's why this game is taking so long. and what with revision and stuff n goin out at the w/e it's hard to fit it in, so ive only done it for big games. but I can touch-type so that helps ;)

thanks for the compliments and yerr keep reading.

Chelsea vs. Aston Villa
Wembley Stadium, London
FA Cup sponsored by E-on Semi-Final, KO 19:45

Live Text Commentary

19:21: Wembley Stadium is packed tonight for this match. Last time these two met was in the FA Cup, Chelsea won 1-0 and it was the last FA Cup final at the Old Wembley. Wonder what we have in store tonight.
19:28: Chelsea have a strong team set out, but they will be worried by Didier Drogba's lack of goals, which is being picked up on by the media at the moment:
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, A. Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Mikel, Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Drogba, Kalou
Arguably, Kalou is the most threatening out of the two strikers there, but we'll see how they get on soon.
19:45: We're off then. Chelsea haven't been at their best in the FA Cup this season, and have had some pretty easy games to get here, although they had to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the last round.
19:46: GOAL Chelsea 0 - 1 Aston Villa And the Villa end of Wembley here is in uproar. It's as simple a goal as you like. Sidwell goes on the left hand side, plays it in to Agbonlahor and he passes it underneath Cech. And with only 26 seconds on the clock, memories of Saha in last years FA Cup final...
19:49: Drogba misses a good chance to put Chelsea level. Kalou plays him in but he takes a touch too many, and Friedel is in a good position to save.
19:53: Chelsea playing it nicely around Villa, but the leaders are comfortably defending their crosses at the moment.
19:58: Ashley Cole squares a great ball across to Bosingwa who lets one rip, but Friedel saves nicely. Drogba taps in the rebound but is offside.
20:03: GOAL Chelsea 1 - 1 Aston Villa They couldn't hold on forever! In fact, only 20 minutes, but what a fantastic goal. And he's been waiting for ages to get it. Lampard plays it square outside the box, and on his left foot Michael Ballack hits a screamer into the roof of the net, on the week he signed a new contract for the blues.
20:10: PENALTY TO CHELSEA Ohhhh it's all turned sour now for Aston Villa. Mikel plays a corner out to Lampard who hits a cracking shot, and it's cleared out before he hits it back in again. Carvalho runs to the edge of the box to collect it and Steve Sidwell pulls his shirt. No doubt about it, and it's Mikel stepping up to take it.
20:12: GOAL Chelsea 2 - 1 Aston Villa And they've completed the turn around. Mikel hits it into the bottom left corner, and Friedel guesses right, but it's too well struck.
20:14: Just so you know, that is his first EVER goal for Chelsea. After 4 years. Incredible.
20:17: Delfouneso sends Agbonlahor into heaps of space, but his shot is saved. Could have gone a bit further there.
20:30: HALF TIME Chelsea 2 - 1 Aston Villa Chelsea have turned it around, but there's plenty left in this game. Still yet to see anything from Chelsea's front line.
20:45: We're underway, and no changes for the second half.
20:48: Ballack swings in a great free kick, but Carvalho heads it just over.
21:06: That's more like it from Drogba. The ball is played up from deep, and he holds off the challenge of Collins before firing in well from an angle, but Friedel saves for a corner.
21:11: Anelka replaces Salomon Kalou.
21:16: Ballack and Lampard go for the corner routine again, but Lampards fiery shot is saved well by Friedel.
21:20: Ohh great save by Petr Cech. Milner's free kick is headed goalwards by Davies, but Cech reacts well to punch it over. Lampard is replaced by Kakuta.
21:29: Jack Rodwell comes on for John Obi Mikel. 3 Minutes of injury time at Wembley Stadium.
21:33: Kakuta hits a long range shot and...
21:34: FULL TIME Chelsea 2 - 1 Aston Villa Chelsea are through to the FA Cup Final in May! A wonderful turn around, and in the end they definitely deserved it. They will be glad they didn't draw again in the FA Cup, as they have had to in most rounds so far, but they will be back here in May against either Manchester United or Manchester City.

Chelsea+v+Burnley+Premier+League+XaqfXFeyqg-l.jpg

Ballack and Ashley Cole celebrate in front of the Chelse fans as Ballack scores the equaliser.

CHELSEA WILL FACE UNITED IN THE FA CUP FINAL

Chelsea and Manchester United will meet at Wembley in May, after United trounced neighbours City at Wembley thanks to a wonderful hat-trick from Dimitar Berbatov.

After a dissapointing season by their standards, they will look to end it in style in May. Chelsea and Manchester United met in August at Wembley in the Charity Shield and Chelsea were victorious that day.

Stoke 0 - 4 Chelsea
Michael+Essien.jpeg

Chelsea reassured their fans that they were still fully focused on the Premier League today with a very positive performance against 10 man Stoke.

And it was Salomon Kalou who got us off and running when he headed in a Drogba flick-on, and he has now scored 11 goals, an impressive return from the Ivorian.

Michael Essien then found space after Kalou had expertly held up the ball and played him, and Essien wasted no time in smashing the ball home with an excellent finish.

Michael Ballack then made it 3-0 by bringing the ball down well, skipping past a defender and sliding home for his second in as many games.

Stoke then saw Andy Griffin get a red card for a professional foul, but Stoke played very well for the last half an hour, and Fuller even had a chance to get a consolation.

But it wasn't their day, and Kalou, who was a creative genius today, played in substitute Demba Ba, and he slid home to finally score for his first goal since early February.

With 4 games left, Chelsea are 4 points clear, but are yet to play Manchester City.

ahhh you posted before didnt you?
where can I find this mourinho tactic
I made my own formations for this season, but I'd like one that simulates that as a back-up formation please :)
