Chelsea 3 - 0 Hapoel Tel-Aviv
UEFA Champions League 2011, Group G, Matchday 4

Chelsea completed a double over Tel-Aviv today through some spectacular goals, but the match was soured by a late sending off for Branislav Ivanovic.

Chelsea went from the off, and it only took them 15 minutes to get the first goal, with Sanchez pouncing on a rebound to score his 2nd in the Champions League this season.

And 10 minutes later, John Obi Mikel scored his first of the season with a sensational 30 yard volley, which went straight into the top corner like a bullet.

It took them until the second half to get the 3rd, but it was worth waiting for as Salomon Kalou found some space outside the box to fire in to the top hand corner for only his 2nd goal this season.

And with 5 minutes to go, Ivanovic jumped to challenge a high ball, and was sent off as the Tel-Aviv player went down injured. He was furious, and Chelsea have since appealed against a three-match ban which would leave them with Michael Mancienne as the only available centre-back for the next couple of Champions League matches.

But a good win, and that's 10 points out of 12 in the Champions League thus far.

Chelsea 1 - 1 Everton
Louis-Saha-celbrates-Chelsea-v-Everton4_2396518.jpg

Chelsea were punished by a last gasp equaliser today after failing to kill off their opponents Everton, who weren't given a sniff until the 92nd minute.

Chelsea dominated the entire match, getting an early goal through Frank Lampard, after a brilliant through ball from Alexis Sanchez.

But after that, chance after chance came, and every one was missed. Didier Drogba started the game, and he is on a horrible run of form, and he either sliced every shot or hit them straight at Howard.

Drogba then had a 2nd Chelsea goal crucially disallowed after his header lobbed Tim Howard, and it was just fate that the referee should give it offside.

The fans were probably sensing in the last few moments that Chelsea were going to pay the price of their profligacy, and it was so when Cech dropped a cross for Dan Gosling to tap in a dramatic equaliser.

To draws in a row in the league, and the players will need to sort themselves out, and need to get back to winning ways again against Aston Villa.

Aston Villa 1 - 4 Chelsea
Michael-Ballack_2349408.jpg

Chelsea re-found their form just in time today by shipping four goals past Villa at Villa Park today, and it was a great performance.

The Blues took the lead early on and this gave them the impetus to then go on and dominate. It was Sanchez who was stealing the show again in his little pocket behind the front man, and he laid a brilliant through ball into the box where Kalou passed it into the back of the net first time to put the Blues ahead.

And within minutes, Kalou was turning provider, bursting with energy down the left flank before sweeping the ball across the box, where Demba Ba was on hand to head home a 2nd.

Then 3 minutes later, Sanchez found himself in possession in Chelsea's half, and lofted a beautiful ball over the Villa defence where Michael Essien took one touch before blasting past a bewildered Friedel.

It was a frantic first half an hour for Chelsea, but after gaining a three-goal lead they relaxed a little bit, and Villa began to press a little more in the second half, Delfouneso twice breaking through the Chelsea back line but finding Cech in good form.

But it was Cech who made the mistake that almost brought Villa back in again, once more dropping a cross for Delfouneso to tuck home. It's a dangerous time for Cech, who seems to suffer badly when it comes to confidence. He'll be hoping to turn back to good form again in the next few weeks.

Chelsea weren't done though, and to avenge Petr Cech, substitute Michael Ballack hit a trademark beauty from 25 yards to seal a priceless victory, as Chelsea now sit 2nd in the league table, just a point behind leaders Manchester City.

glad to hear you've joined us josh :) hope you've caught up and are with us. any input is welcomed.
and shootie, I see you're reading this so if you could help me with Gourcuff, that would be much appreciated!!!

Chelsea 0 - 1 Wigan
419749146-soccer-barclays-premier-league-wigan-athletic-v-chelsea-dw-stadium.jpg

Chelsea were stunned today by an incisive Wigan as they were once again punished for failing to take their chances.

Despite seeming to dominate the game, hitting the woodwork an incredible five times, Chelsea could not find the finishing touch up front, and it is becoming a worry for them.

The goalless Drogba is a serious issue for the Blues now as he seems short of the confidence that has been with him throughout his Chelsea career, and made him such a professional player.

Essien spurned a good chance before half time, hitting the bar after good work from Alexis Sanchez, before Ivanovic then hit the bar from a corner.

Chelsea pushed and pushed in the second half, with both Lampard and substitute Gotze hitting the Wigan crossbar.

But with 3 minutes to go, Jordi Gomez played in Ben Watson and he slammed home to silence a crowd of 40,000 fans who went home very dissapointed with this Chelsea display.

It leaves them 4 points adrift of Manchester City in the title race and their lack of finesse up front is becoming a really key issue for the manager to think about in the coming weeks.

West Ham 0 - 3 Chelsea
yoanngourcuffshirtless.jpg

Chelsea thrashed rivals West Ham at Upton Park to come back from that defeat from Wigan last weekend, with Yoann Gourcuff stealing the show.

After the public and no doubt private reprimanding that the players got after that performance against Wigan last weekend, the players seemed more than up for this game and got their noses up early on. Gourcuff picked the ball up from a throw on on the far corner of the 16 yard box, and released a screamer with his left foot which was parried and Sanchez popped up to get his 3rd of the season.

Sanchez is starting to realise his potential at Stamford Bridge this season and it was him who earned the corner for Chelsea's next goal after making space on the left wing. Yury Zhirkov swung the corner into the 6 yard box, and Demba Ba was on hand to head home.

And minutes later, Gourcuff swept home the rebound from Michael Essien's free-kick after it had hit the post to give Chelsea 3 goal cushion.

That was the way it remained for the rest of the match; Chelsea content with a 3 goal lead, and West Ham content to keep it that way. There was however, a debut for youngster Yaya Sanogo, a regular performer in the Under-18s squad, scoring 16 goals in 12 games for them. He put in a good shift, and the manager will be pleased with his progress.

Chelsea remain 4 points behind in-form City, and will have to keep pushing with a tough December coming up. The next match is against Getafe in the Champions League.

Nice result :D

Finally found a decent recorder with good quality! When I upload it ill give you link in PM and tell me what you think ;)

ahh you legend :) lovely stuff, just beat getafe and gonna put it up, but I wanted to upload gourcuff's goal. you're a star by the way, cos I made a few changes with gourcuff's advanced settings and he just ruled that game. thanks a lot! :)

Lampard%20celebrating%20goal%20vs%20Sunderland.gif

Chelsea thrashed La Liga's basement side Getafe to avenge the 0-0 draw in Spain previously. It was a great team performance, and signs that the new players are really starting to gel into the side.

The key player of course being Yoann Gourcuff who in this game really showed the qualities that he was signed for; more so than in the game against West Ham.

Playing in his advanced playmaker role, he was constantly wreaking havoc in and around the box, laying passes all across the park, from left to right, and he played Demba Ba in with a whole host of chances, but as has been the case with Chelsea's strikers this season, he large number of them.

It didn't take long before Chelsea were ahead, as Lampard curled in a wonderful finish after being played in by Essien. It was a great start, and Lampard is really starting to shine this season after a less than impressive performance by his standards last year.

And despite a whole host of chances throughout the game, Chelsea could not extend their lead until the 68th minute when Yoann Gourcuff hit an absolute screamer in off the bar to seal the victory, and get his 3rd goal of the campaign.

Chelsea have qualified for the knock-out stages with this victory, as many assumed they would, and hopefully they will progress further than they did last season.

I admire the effort you put into your stories, Chelsea aren't that challenging but well done none the less.

cheers mate :)
i seem to find them a challenge, more so than I do lower league teams, as I've managed to guide crewe into the premiership on a shoe-string wage, and afc wimbledon too.
but as a chelsea fan I wanted a dedicated story to them, and I'm trying to be as realistic as possible and try and bring my youth players up the ranks so I'm still finding it a bit of a challenge :)
glad to see you like itand I'll be checking out your story.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Birmingham
340x.jpg

Chelsea gave Deco a sour return to the Bridge today, by thrashing them 3 goals to nil, leaving Birmingham rooted to the bottom of the FA Premier League.

Gourcuff carried on his great form early on by being the hub of attention, receiving balls from all over the park, and spraying them left, right and centre.

And it was his pass that led to the opening goal, as he split the Birmingham defence to bring Cole in from wide right, and he passed underneath the goalkeeper for 1-0.

Drogba may then have made it 2-0, as he was played in by Ballack, with acres of time and space, but skewed it miles wide when he really should have scored.

Alexis Sanchez then doubled Chelsea's lead in the second half, in a similar fashion to Joe Cole's goal, coming in from the left to receive Gourcuff's pass before passing under the goalkeeper.

And Drogba's substitute Demba Ba then staked his claim for a starting line-up by smashing in a wonderful shot from range, right into the bottom corner.

It leaves Chelsea still 4 points behind City, as they beat Sunderland 3-2 today, but it was an encouraging performance nonetheless.

The next game is the Carling Cup Quarter-Final against Burnley. It is a live televised match.

Bunrley vs. Chelsea
League Cup Quarter-Final
Turf Moor, KO 19:45

Live Text Commentary

19:03: Welcome to Turf Moor, and Chelsea will remember this ground from last season when they just edged the encounter thanks to a late header from Terry, which ended a run of poor form.
19:16: Chelsea have sprung a few surprises with their team tonight. Although most of it is the same as the team that played Birmingham at the weekend, we see the inclusion of one Claude Makelele for the first time this season:
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Zhirkov, Terry, Ivanovic, Makelele, Lampard, Sanchez, J. Cole, Gourcuff, Drogba (Hilario, van Aanholt, Essien, Ballack, Aquino, Ba, Kalou)
19:26: Should be a good one, but who can honestly see Burnley knocking Chelsea out tonight? Stranger things have happened, such as last year against West Brom...
19:45: We're underway then for this quarter-final encounter.
19:47: It would appear that Burnley feel they have a point to prove here tonight as they come out of the stocks in a very offensive fashion. McCann makes some space down the right before playing in Rodriguez, but Cech is equal to the shot.
19:55: Burnley have a huge stocky central midfielder called Joseph, and he's giving Makelele a run for his money at the moment as Gourcuff skies a shot.
20:03: Little going on so far. Bosingwa just shoots well over the bar.
20:07: Joe Cole does well to win Chelsea a free-kick on the right hand side. It's swung in to the back post where Ivanovic is, but his header is cleared off the line.
20:20: Ohh and a lovely effort from the Frenchman. Gourcuff is given far too much room, and he drills towards the bottom corner, only to see it hit the bottom of the post and go wide. Nice effort.
20:25: Chelsea win a succession of corners, but Burnley defend them well. They're soaking up pressure commendably here at the moment..
20:31: HALF TIME Burnley 0 - 0 Chelsea Burnley will be delighted with this scoreline, but Chelsea will have no right to be pleased with that display. Despite dominating possession-wise, they created very few chances considering the wealth of talent out there toninght.
20:45: We're off again then. Hopefully we'll see some more goalmouth action.
20:50: Ambitious. Blake attempts a 30-yard free-kick but it goes well over. Still seen nothing from Chelsea yet.
20:59: The first chance of the half for the Blues and it's a wasted effort from Yury Zhirkov, a usually reliable player.
20:07: Kalou and Ba enter the fray.
20:10: Ba is played in well by Gourcuff but he blasts miles over. Yawn..
20:14: Oh now this time he really should score. Zhirkov plays a wonderful cross into the 6 yard box for Ba and he somehow manages to head it over. He was totally unmarked?!
20:21: Ohhh and Chelsea thought they were ahead there! Zhirkov swung in another great ball towards the 6 yard box. Stuart Taylor came to collect it but Ba came charging across to head it in. The referee pulls us back to obstruction on the keeper. They get far too much protection these days.
20:24: They do not want extra-time, these lot. Gourcuff rallies the troops, spraying a great ball wide to Zhirkov, who in turn switches the ball to Joe Cole who unleashes a fierce shot, which Taylor does well to get hands on. Keeper's done well tonight. Only player we've seen for Burnley.
20:32: FULL TIME Burnley 0 - 0 Chelsea Chelsea may feel aggrieved for having that goal disallowed, but they've been far too slack in front of goal, and looked very complacent at times. They will now have to pay for that by going into extra time.
20:45: We're away. Half an hour now to play in this League Cup Quarter-Final.
20:52: And Joe Cole is screaming at him. He's ran right across the pitch to shout at him for that, because Demba Ba has just missed an open goal. Wonderful work from Cole, taking on the right flank before crossing in, and Ba can surely only score, and somehow he manages to head wide. Unbelievable.
21:00: HALF TIME IN EXTRA TIME Burnley 0 - 0 Chelsea Still can't believe that Ba missed that opportunity. It was an open goal? On his money, that is absolutely appalling.
21:05: Ballack will replace Makelele, most likely for the penalty shootout. Illyroy has only faced one penalty shootout in his career. That was in his first game in charge and they won, 5-4.
21:10: Ivanovic heads over a corner. Chelsea are being incredibly wasteful, I mean, it's actually mind boggling how many chances they've missed.
Shots: 28, On Target: 18
???
21:15: And now Joe Cole has to apologise to Ba, because he himself has just missed an absolute sitter from 5 yards. This is unbelievable.
21:18: Chelsea corner, and Petr Cech is coming up...
21:20: FULL TIME Burnley 0 - 0 Chelsea These are simply crazy stats. Chelsea managed 31 shots, 20 of which were on target, and still didn't manage to find a goal? It's poor to say the least, the manager has no right to be happy with his players tonight.
But anyway, we go to a penalty shoot-out.

Chelsea have been knocked out of the Carling Cup Quarter-Final on penalties!

What a crazy, crazy match. Burnley managed 5 shots on goal to Chelsea's 31 and still manage to make it to the semi-final of the Carling Cup. It's a lesson learned for Chelsea's players because that was a pretty shocking performance from them, and Sam Illyroy's bad luck in the Carling Cup continues this season.

Ballack missed the crucial penalty, after the cycle continued in sudden death.

FA Premier League, KO 16:00

Live Text Commentary

15:08: Chelsea will no doubt want to bounce back from that dreadful defeat against Burnley this week, and Drogba has said in the media that he is aiming to end his goal drought. Could today be that day?
15:14: They're being linked with a couple of strikers with the January transfer window coming up too. One of the names is HSV's Guerrero; what do fans think of that potential signing?
15:28: Well, Chelsea's squad comes in. This is a huge match today because Chelsea are now 7 points behind City now after they scored that late winner against Fulham yesterday, so it is vital Chelsea keep up the pressure.
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Zhirkov, Terry, Ivanovic, Essien, Lampard, Sanchez, Kalou, Gourcuff, Drogba
16:00: And we're just about ready to go. Mark Clattenburg blows his whistle and we are underway.
16:04: Rooney has the first effort of the game, hitting a left-footed shot on the turn, but Cech saves and it is cleared.
16:08: Great work from Sanchez as he is found by Gourcuff. He runs the length of the right flank before whipping in a wonderful right footed ball, but Drogba just can't keep that header down. It's not going for him at the moment.
16:14: United are really giving it some now, and playing some nice football too. Berbatov finds space, but Cech saves his first time shot.
16:19: GOAL Chelsea 0 - 1 Manchester United They've taken the lead here at Stamford Bridge. Zoran Tosic whips in a wonderful left-footed corner and Ferdinand is on hand to head United into the lead.
16:28: Drogba skews another shot wide, as Chelsea half-heartedly assault the United goal.
16:32: Chelsea are being outplayed all over the park here, and Manchester United just seem to want it more. Sanchez mis-places a pass straight to Rooney who does well to wait for the run of Berbatov, but Cech makes a wonderful save from the shot.
16:45: HALF TIME Chelsea 0 - 1 Manchester United United deservedly lead at half-time, and it's been a very poor showing from Chelsea. They seem to have been hit by the December bug again, as last season, and they've got a lot on to save this match..
17:00: Michael Carrick comes on for Manchester United in this second half, and we're underway again.
17:07: Encouraging signs from Chelsea. Gourcuff plays in Kalou and his shot is saved. It is cleared as far as Ballack who plays a great ball behind the defence and Sanchez slots it into the back of the net, but the assistant on the far side has his flag raised.
17:15: Cech is keeping Chelsea's thin hopes alive here at the moment. He makes a wonderful one handed reflex save to deny Fletcher at point-blank range. Anelka and Joe Cole are on.
17:28: GOAL Chelsea 1 - 1 Manchester United And after their bad luck against Burnley mid-week, they will not care if that looked a little dubious. Gourcuff plays in Sanchez for the first time and his shot is saved, before Bosingwa plays him back in and this time the little Chilean winger makes no mistake, drilling it into the bottom corner.
17:32: GOAL Chelsea 1 - 2 Manchester United Ohh it's agony again, but if you can't defend set pieces then you will be punished. Anderson plays in the corner this time, and Ferdinand somehow manages to head it through a crowd of 3 Chelsea players and past the otherwise faultless Petr Cech. Aquino comes on for Lampard.
17:33: Oohh and Joe Cole almost equalises instantly, running clear of the United defence before hitting a wicked left foot shot, but Foster saves well.
17:36: So close for the youngster! Essien does brilliantly to win the ball back from Berbatov before playing into Gourcuff. He plays a wonderful through ball into Aquino, whose first touch is brilliant but Foster makes a wonderful save to deny him.
17:45: GOAL Chelsea 2 - 2 Manchester United IT'S ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE! CHELSEA HAVE DRAWN LEVEL IN INJURY TIME! But the most amazing thing is that it is the youngster Daniel Aquino's first goal for the club in only his third substitute appearance, and boy could that be a huge, huge goal. He is played in brilliantly by Gourcuff, and he shows composure well beyond his years to tuck it right beneath Foster. Wonderful stuff. Just fantastic.
17:47: FULL TIME Chelsea 2 - 2 Manchester United All I can say is what a game. Just a fantastic finish to a brilliant game and although it leaves Chelsea trailing 6 points behind City, it was a game which could have gone horribly wrong, but they were saved at the death by super-sub Daniel Aquino.

30439_news.jpg

-Daniel Aquino scored his first goal for the club deep into injury time to rescue a point for Chelsea.

CHELSEA TO SIGN ARTEM MILEVSKYI ON A FREE TRANSFER
1260358098vmT3I6.jpg

Dynamo Kiev striker Artem Milevskyi has reportedly today signed a 4 year contract with English champions Chelsea and will join them on a free transfer in June 2011.

"This is a fantastic coup for the club, because Artem is a wonderfully gifted footballer, and has the grace and finesse that I believe we currently lack up front. I think he would give us a different option to the types of strikers we have at the moment, such as Didier and Demba, because he is less of a bullish target man, and prefers to bring the ball down on the deck. This may be vital for us next season and beyond that."

His transfer is subject to a medical and a work permit being granted, and it will go through on June 1st 2011.
