good result against stoke, it is alway nice to beat the lesser teams...... have u qualified from your champions league group yet

This is one of the few stories on here actually worth taking some time to have a read of it. Good job so far and a really great layout, keep it up :)

leedsunited - it really is, I find these games the most frustrating most of the times, but we've done well to beat most of them and only draw with Wigan. tough month coming up now though, need to play blackburn, man city and everton and then it's the end of 2009 and into the african cup of nations. tough times, I'm quite nervous!
max - delighted to hear you think that mate :) I've dedicated a lot of time to it as you can see, and I hope you keep reading, the best of this season is yet to come.

Blackburn 2 - 0 Chelsea

Chelsea dropped all 3 points, but they will most certainly be wondering how that was the case in one of the most bizarre games of football this season against a team that had lost their previous six games on the trot.

Chelsea dominated early on, with youngster Gael Kakuta pulling all the strings. Demba Ba missed a number of good chances that he was given, and Gael Kakuta struck a great strike on his left foot, but it hit the bar.

But it was the youngster who was guilty of missing the best chance of the first half. Demba Ba hit a great strike, which the keeper parried to Kakuta's feet, and he struck it on his right foot but it wide of the empty goal.

And 25 minutes into the game, disaster struck. A routine long ball was played forward by Ryan Nelson and keeper Petr Cech grabbed it, but then dropped it and Steven Reid was in pole position to capitalise and put Blackburn ahead with their first shot.

In the second half Chelsea pounded and pounded against Blackburn's door, with Robinson putting in an England call-up worthy performance to deny Ba and substitute Salomon Kalou.

And unbelievably Jason Roberts doubled Blackburns advantage in the 73rd minute after countering from a Chelsea corner and burying comfortably.

It was an unbelievable game, and Chelsea's manager looked absolutely furious on the sidelines, and has since argued that Reid's goal should never have counted as he pushed Petr Cech. But it stays and Chelsea suffer their second defeat of the season.

Oh dear, Mr Cech causing mayhem in his own defence again :P Unlucky mate, hopefully you can bounce back

that was unbelievable. 2 chances they had, 2! and they'd lost 6 in a row. sickening. we're still top but by only 2 points now, rest of december is a big month.

Chelsea 2 - 3 AZ Alkmaar

UEFA Champions League Matchday 6
cech415.jpg

Chelsea were on the end of another defeat this evening and the problems are rising for the Blues at the moment.

AZ Alkmaar had held Chelsea already this season and they took the lead early on from a Hemdaoui free-kick which took a wicked deflection before beating Cech (above). Chelsea were clearly lacking confidence after their defeat at the hands of Blackburn at the weekend and went into half-time to a very angry looking manager.

Chelsea did respond in the second half and it only took 2 minutes for Essien to slip Malouda through and tap past the AZ keeper, and the fans were urging the players to go on.

But Alex conceded a free-kick outside the box, and AZ capitalised again with a wonderfully executed free-kick by Luijckx, low into Cech's corner.

Chelsea then made a substitution bringing Anelka off for Kalou, and he responded instantly, heading a Malouda corner into the top corner with a quarter of an hour to go.

But incredibly, AZ Alkmaar won the game minutes later from a corner, Mendes da Silva heading in the winner, and it was another poor night for goalkeeper Petr Cech who will need to seriously reflect on his past two performances.

It meant nothing in terms of qualification, as FC Zurich lost to Sporting Lisbon, meaning Chelsea won the group, but only by 1 point in a group many expected them to breeze through, and the manager has a lot of work on his hands to bring back confidence and sort out a very leaky defence.

Chelsea 1 - 2 Everton

Sam Illyroy is starting to feel the pressure at Stamford Bridge as Petr Cech's hurrendous own goal doomed Chelsea to a third successive defeat, and not even a wonderful Michael Essien goal could save them.

Chelsea started poorly again conceding from a corner, which is becoming an alarming trend and when a cross came in, Petr Cech, under no pressure whatsoever flapped at the ball and practically punched into his own net, stumbling over.

Chelsea reacted for the first few minutes of the second half, with Michael Essien scoring a wonderful strike, but they could not even recover a point from a game that they should really have been winning.

Their next game is against league leaders Manchester City, and a loss there could be disastrous for the young manager, as his already short tenure as Chelsea manager hangs perilously on the brink, with reports that Malouda is becoming disillusioned with the club at the moment.

How can Chelsea react to these dreadful results? Join skysports in Manchester City vs. Chelsea this Tuesday in what must be the biggest game to date.

Manchester City vs. Chelsea
City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester
FA Premier League, 19:45 KO

Live Text Commentary

19:20: This is as big as it's gotten for this new young manager in his short Chelsea career. And a number of fans are already prematurely calling for his head. He's going to have to get his team to react here tonight...
19:28: He's put out an attacking formation, but there's no room for out-of-sorts striker Demba Ba. With Drogba still injured, Kalou and Anelka start up front, and Rodwell also gets a surprising start over John Obi Mikel
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, A. Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Rodwell, Lampard, Essien, J. Cole, Anelka, Kalou
19:45: We're away here. Oooh isn't it tense?
19:50: Chelsea are making a few chances, but nothing clear cut. And Man City show them how it's done, with Tevez and Adebayor linking up to send Barry clear, but Cech saves well. He's got a lot of pressure on him today, the Czech.
19:59: Anelka does very well indeed to hold up the ball before sending Kalou free, but he just can't keep his composure and toepokes it straight at Given.
20:01: GOAL Manchester City 1 - 0 Chelsea Well, well, well. It's gonna take a lot from here from Chelsea. It's Emmanuel Adebayor's 10th Premiership goal of the season, and it's a very nice finish. Barry sends him in and he slides home from 15 yards, underneath the scrambling Petr Cech.
20:16: GOAL Manchester City 1 - 1 Chelsea Chelsea have regrouped and the credit most go to them there, and especially Joe Cole. The ball is hoofed up to the front line and Anelka drops in Joe Cole who spins Lescott before sliding a delightful ball into Lampard who smashes it in off the post.
20:22: Ohhhhh and if only someone had gambled. Anelka does brilliantly to race clear, and is pushed out wide, but he chips a wonderful ball into the centre, where Lampard is rushing in, but he can't get in in time. That would have been an empty net.
20:30: HALF TIME Manchester City 1 - 1 Chelsea In all fairness, an even half with both teams gambling players, and it's cost both of them. All level, and all to play for in the second half.
20:45: No hanging around with this man; Salomon Kalou is deemed surplus for this second half and Demba Ba replaces him. That's a gamble, with the form he's in. Second half kicks off.
20:55: End of the game for Joe Cole. He's coming off after picking up an injury. Not what Chelsea needed. On comes Deco.
20:59: WOAH! Ashley Cole plays a throw in to Rodwell, who squares it over to Carvalho. He hits it perfectly on the volley, only to see it hit bang off the crossbar. Unlucky.
21:00: Chelsea get awaay with that! That was way too close for comfort. Had that been a striker breaking free it would have been 2-1. The rebound off the crossbar goes right out to Wayne Bridge, and he and 4 other City players run the entire length of the pitch but Bridge hits at a well-positioned Cech.
21:03: Demba Ba has a good opportunity after he is played in by Deco, but it's a very good save from Shay Given and Toure clears it.
21:18: Great opportunity for Adebayor. He gets clear from Terry but just swings the shot wide.
21:20: Mikel replaces Essien.
21:22: Chelsea play the ball up nicely, but Lampards long range shot just ***** over the bar.
21:26: They're getting so close but time is running out. This time it's Ba who does well, flicking Deco in behind the defence, but he just can't get the finish right. There's minutes to go here at the City of Manchester Stadium.
21:30: Four minutes of added time, and City nearly nick it. The corner is played in by Barry and headed goalwards. Cech saves but Adebayor charges down the rebound and smashes it goalwards. Bosingwa does fantastically well to clear it from the line.
21:32: Oh my word, and Chelsea try to get forward, but Adebayor isn't having it. He steals the ball and hits it from 40 yards, only to see it smash off the woodwork.
21:34: FULL TIME Manchester City 1 - 1 Chelsea Well it's over then, and it's a draw. Manchester City will no doubt be the happier of the two teams after Chelsea played them off the park that second half. But they lacked cutting edge, and it means Chelsea remained 2 points behind City. It is, at least, a point, which is better than they've been able to muster in the past 3 games.

Lampard scores the equaliser, finishing to Given's right.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 1ST KNOCKOUT ROUND DRAW

Chelsea receive a very tough draw for the next round of the Champions League today, as they drew Inter Milan, and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. This game is to be played in February, and both games will be live.
lens2006346_1212025110champions_league_logo.jpg

the champions league group stage seemed to be a fairly close call. Shame that the team seems to be having a few bad runs lately, but still alot of games to be played, hope they´ll do better in the next games :) . Man City are always a pain to play against, so was a decent result especially for an away game. And goodluck against Inter tough one indeed.

Chelsea 0 - 0 Bolton
john-terry-sifr-413904203.jpg

Bolton held struggling Chelsea to a draw at Stamford Bridge today, and Chelsea were not helped by the fact that Jaaskelainen was having the game of his life.

Luck is not a word that you can attribute to this Chelsea side, and they were unlucky, and you could tell this was a team that hadn't won in 6 games. A win would have seen them top, and clearly they cracked under the pressure.

Lampard came close on a number of occassions, and it was clear that Demba Ba was struggling from a lack of confidence, as he spurned a number of vital chances for Chelsea. With the return of Drogba this week, it may come as a saving grace, although next month of course is the African Cup of Nations.

Joe Cole returned from injury to play this game, and was playing well up the top, but was not receiving width from wide players Anelka and Malouda.

At half time, Chelsea brought on Rodwell, who is fast developing into a very good player. He began to dictate play in central midfield, but as the score suggests, Chelsea lacked a finishing touch.

This may be a position Sam Illyroy will have to strengthen in in January, if he remains in charge until then. Tough times at Stamford Bridge.

tell me about it mate. Getting so frustrated at the moment, I can't seem to do anything to pick up the players. got to get our act together soon.

if anyone can think of any ideas of a goal poacher, I need to buy one in the january transfer window.
I have a budget of about 15m, so no higher than that!
thanks

Birmingham 0 - 1 Chelsea

Drogba made a dramatic return to the first team after a 2 month lay-off by scoring the winner only 5 minutes into the game. Strike partner Kalou sent him through, and he sprinted past Johnson before hitting a shot off the post.

And Joe Hart was the reason the game didn't get more embarrasing for Birmingham. Chelsea dominated the entire game, but failed to score which led to a nervy last 5 minutes.

Drogba ran riot in the first half, creating chances asunder, and the most of them fell to midfielder Frank Lampard, but he was very wasteful today, skying 6 very good opportunities.

But Chelsea looked a lot more confident with Drogba in the side than they had in the past few games, and even though he leaves in two weeks, it's encouraging to have him back in the side with the Arsenal game only 4 days away.

But Joe Hart has got to be a contender for England's goalkeeper this summer, after keeping Birmingham in the game all the way through. In the second half with the introduction of Demba Ba, he had to be at his best to save a wonderful header, and tip it over.

And he also showed his intelligence, coming off his line early to close down Joe Cole with a ruthless tackle which typified his performance.

But Chelsea will be delighted to have finally come away from a game which they've dominated with all 3 points in the bag, and it suprisingly points them top of the league, with other results having gone their way.

Fulham 2 - 3 Chelsea
drogba_1550142c.jpg

Chelsea edged a thrilling London derby today, in a game that probably could have gone either way, and there were plenty of twists and turns.

With both teams tired from the boxing day games, it was Fulham who looked the brighter of the two teams, as they pushed early on. Cech was on form to save two very good efforts from Elm and Murphy.

But Chelsea countered from a Fulham corner, and after Pantsil lost possession for Fulham near the box, Anelka teed up young Jack Rodwell who curled in a screamer from 25 yards to score his first goal for Chelsea, and he was delighted.

And Chelsea continued to impress in the first half, dominating the rest of proceedings and Demba Ba and Lampard may have done better when Rodwell set them up.

Things improved for them after half time too, when Demba Ba scored his best goal since joining the blues from Hoffenheim. Lampard sent him through and with two defenders on his back, and Schwarzer racing out, he kept his carm to lob the ball beautifully into the back of the net, and it was 2-0.

But Fulham recouperated and Chelsea conceded a goal when Carvalho unfortunately turned a Dempsey goal into the back of the net.

And surprise, surprise, Chelsea's luck seemed to be out again when Gera headed home an excellent Dempsey cross, and the home fans were ecstatic.

But the best players turn up when they're most needed, and that's exactly what Didier Drogba did. In the 91st minute of the game, Rodwell collected the ball in the middle of the park before slotting through an excellent pass which Drogba tucked home, as cool as you like.

With this game being the penultimate of 2009, Chelsea will be hoping for a good end with the game against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, which is live on skysports.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal is coming up as a live televised game. Stay tuned.
