2019 Deildabikar

View attachment 115607

One good thing about having a short bench is that everyone seems to be match fit. We did change our starting XI in 6 of the 7 matches, but it didn't seem to phase our team too much. Youth is on our side since no one is complaining really about playing time (or maybe cause we are winning consistently still), but only got complacent in one match. Still coming to the finals we would have a game that went into extra time (Semi Final) although we would still get the win and a shutout. Still it would be our fourth straight victory in the Deildabikar.

Last years stats:
Went 7-0-0 (first year with a perfect record)
Outscored opponents 28-3
Had 7 clean sheets
Quarter went to extra not a shootout
Leading Goalscorer: Hrvoje Tokic 6 goals in 7 games
Leading Assister: Heioar Aegisson 3 goals in 8 games (tied with Logi Marteinsson (9 games), Arnor Sveinn Adalsteinsson (9 games))

This Years stats:
Went 6-1-0
Outscored opponents 19-2
Had 8 clean sheets
Semi Final went to extra not a shootout
Leading Goalscorer: N/A (Sorry I thought it took screenshots of the stats at the end of the year but apparently I didn't, and past the point of where I can click on the boxscores)
Leading Assister: N/A
.
Total Years under Coach Sterling (3 years):
Record: 25-2-1
Outscored opponents: 57-16
18 clean sheets
Three Quarters went into extra (one decided by a shootout)
Three Semi's went into extra (one decided by a shootout)
Leading Goalscorer: Guojon Baldvinsson with 15
Leading Assister: Arnor Sveinn Adalsteinsson with 6

We all knew our team is young, but we do have a very stable and amazing goalkeeper. He would break his own record (last year) and would post 8 shutouts. We would only give us two goals in 10 games, and luckily for us it came in the Group A of play as we would post shut outs in the playoff's. Granted we were more fit than other teams coming in to Group A play this yea. Our small squad that looked to be our weakness was actually our strength to some quick goals. Still we did give up some shots, but again Jajalo looks to own this league.

So teams were 1000-1 to win it last year (KA two years ago) and now it is a promising sign that teams are trying to keep up with us since the worst team's chances to winning league is Por with 500-1. However, we do have a 200-1 of not getting relegated. I understand we got rid of a lot of experience players, but coach Sterling has never finish worst than first, and we still have Jajalo and our two strikers (Tokic and Bjornsson) whom seemed to be working very well together. What is shocking is to see KR struggling to keep up with us and they were the first professional team in Iceland. So much for the rivalry I guess.

Month Record: 5-0-0
All-Time Record: 19-1-1
All-Time Frabaer Bikar Record: 3-0
All-Time Borgunarbikar Third Round Record: 3-0-1

Lets first start with the Frabaer Bikar. Shockingly we would go back to winning with ease as the first time Sterling showed up in 2017 and won by the same score of 2-0. We did have to start some reserves (to keep our starters ready for the opening on the season), but we did get the win.

Also we would go back to winning the third round of the Borgunarbikar with the same score as the Frabaer Bikar that was with the majority of our reserves playing. This seemed to be a problem since some of our reserves didn't get much playing time in league play due to our short roster.

I know it's only been three league games, but Breioablik is a top 5 club in Iceland. We pretty much dispatched them at their place with a 2-0 win. If we were in a rebuilding year, or the dynasty being over, we didn't show it as we actually posted a shutout in league and in all games played for the month. Coach Sterling has had to use youth players before so maybe this isn't so shocking. We are predicted to win the league, but was anyone seeing the way we started in Deil and this month of just shutting out everyone.

Three Keys to the Month:

Jajalo has been unbelievable. Sterling probably waited too long to offer a new contract, but right now no new deal and rumor is that Jajalo has seen his stock rise astronomical with all these shutouts and doesn't want to resign. Still have plently of time left, but Sterling and staff might/should be nervous now of losing him.

Tokic has been good for us this year and looks to still be beastly in the league. Still no word on a contract, but now his asking price is 350K for the year (6,700 a week) which is about 6.7 times more than anyone else on the team. He also as asked for a two year deal which seems to be the sticking point right now. Currently Sterling is asking for 3 years and around 5K a week (260K a year) which is too big of a gap. The fans want him to stay so this might seemed to happen sooner than later. Or well that's what the fans want, but sometimes the fan's don't get what they want like selling off their steadfast captain at the end of the off-season for peanuts.

It's only 3 games into the season, but we currently hold first and two problems arise for opponents. One is can you score on this vaulted defense (only 2 goals in 13 games so far this year) and can you stop our offense which has scored in 12 of the 13 games this year (although one needed extra time for the score). Despite being young this team does have some players with experience, and it seems as if nothing can rattle coach Sterling.

Month record: 6-1-0
All-Time Record: 21-3-1
All-Time Borgunarbikar Fourth Round Record: 3-0-1

Our Bench played a key victory in the Fourth Round win this year. Despite playing FH twice within three days they saw two different lineups and still won both games against them. We seem to drop from worldly to mortal against league teams as we did give up 5 goals in 7 games this month.

Record: 5-1-0
All-Time Record: 19-3-0

We would face off against two of the top four teams in the league (yes that is including our team in that discussion) but a grind it out win against Valur, and then a come-from-behind win against FH, showed our class even if both of our games were at home. While we did have 4 of our 6 games at home, the tie did come at home to a very average team. Still it was sandwich between the week so we did let most of our starters get a rest. Can't complain as we hold a 5 point lead in the league and is the only team without a loss.

Three keys to the month:

A rise is all we wanted even if it was just 5 spots in the world (pic 1). We are still a two-and-a-half stars in rep so we sit behind Liga 1 2 3 (pic 2). So it shows how much more we need to become to be an actual power house league. As of right now Stjarnan just has too worry about continuing their runs in the Group Stage to rise our counties profile (pic 3)

View attachment 115449View attachment 115448

Sure it's not like any team went to the Europa League (apparently KR went in 2017), but no one has sniff even close to the group stage, yet they get the upgrade (pic 1). You would think it would be Champs League as we been cruising to group stage for the past two years and we still sit with one team only in the Second Qualifying Phase

View attachment 115447View attachment 115446

Well this is good news (pic1). First off it's not even league play, but just the cup as we set the attendance record. Goes to our first key of the month as it is showing that people of Iceland are taking more of a notice in league play than just the national team (who is currently on a slide downwards).

However, the bad news is that ourleading goal scorer on the team, Tokic, has decided to pass over the 300K deal with us and sign for Charlton on a free (pic 2). Double whammy is that not only do we lose him we lose him on a free. The only bright light is since it is on a free we get to use him until the end of the year. Cause we might struggle winning league and advancing in Champs league without him.

All-Time Champions League Second Qualifying Phase: 6-0-0
All-Time Champions League Third Qualifying Phase: 1-0-1

For the second straight year we make it to the Quarter Final for the Borgunarbikar and for the second straight year it would go to a shootout. Our reserves would be a little more match fit, but with Champs league looming, it seemed as if they were looking forward to more time in league play and it would cost us the shootout loss. Still it might be good to not worry about that Cup since we care about the money from the Group Stage.

As for Champs league we would cruise in the Second Qualifying Phase with a whopping score of 7-1, but within a ten day period we would play 4 games with the final game of the month being the Third Qualifying Phase on the road. We would take a 2-1 lead at half, but seemed to lose our focus in the second as they came storming back for the win.

Still the only team without a loss in the league. If there was a time for FH or IBV to challenge Sterling and Company for the title it would have to start this month. Sadly both teams fell hard as they only gather 4 points in the month as we now are cruising. While second through sixth place is only a 4 point difference the difference between the top three teams is 11 points. Only a crazy collapse by us now will give them a chance. One thing Sterling has never done so far is give up hardly anything so you might as well just crown us champs again.

Three keys to the month:

Second straight year we are coming in the second leg of the Champs league being down. This is our first adversity of the year and it has fans worried. As for coach Sterling it is just another block in the path of paving this road to glorious times for Stjarnan. Still from the press conferences he has shown no waver in his upbeat confidence of winning the leg and, at least in public, hasn't lost faith in his youth of players.

Jajalo now has admitted their has been talks with Stjaran but his mind is set. He wants to leave after rejecting two contracts since the beginning of the year. This does not go well with the fans as they wonder what will be of next year after losing now Tokic and what it seems to be Jajalo. Still Sterling has now public announced his rebuttal that there is still time to try to work out a deal and that if the window is open for a sliver that he still has a chance of getting him.

For a team that has been dominating the league in Deildabikar, the League, and even to the extent of Champs League (getting to the Group Stage), they have failed to make it past the Quarter Final of the Borgunarbikar in three years. With one year not even making it. Fan's are upset since it is the big tournament of Iceland, but with everything else no one is really concerned about not winning it. However, they are concerned we are not making more noise or even playing to the standard of everything else. This year they might have a pass with the lack of players, but how much further can Sterling go without at least attempting to make it to the finals of this cup.

All-Time Champions League Third Qualifying Phase: 3-0-1
All-Time Champions League Playoff: 3-2-1

Like last year the magic continues for Sterling and Company as they somehow make it into the group stage. First it was the big win at home, we are consistently money at home, as we won 3-1 for the second leg of the Third Qualifying Phase. The first leg of the Playoffs would be at our place . Sterling likes it when we start the first leg away since we punish people at our place. Still this year we would cruise to a 4-2 win. In what looked to be all over as Steaua would hold a 3-1 lead at half we manage to score 2 goals in the final ten minutes to seal our ticket to the group stage.

All-Time Record: 9-3-4

There has to be a first for everything. You would think this would happen in the first year, but it would be now that coach Sterling would face his first losing record for a month in league play. While the gap between first and second is by 7 points we still hold a one game advantage. FH is been on a horrible slide as they went from second to now six after collecting just two ties in the month. IA has been on a tear as they move up to second, but they might not have enough with just 4 games left to trouble us for first. So we posted our first losing month, but we are just counting down the days until we win the league.

Three keys to the month:

A new sponsorship worth 30K a year (pic1). While most managers would scoff at that, that is huge for us. Right now our salaries are around only 18K a year so that covers our salaries for the year. Although each year our players want more and more so it should cover at least until the sponsorship is up. Also our junior coaching has improved immensely (pic 3) and even our facilites are finally being upgraded to a level that is going to start challenging top clubs in the world (pic 2).

View attachment 115329View attachment 115328

Well so much for an up-and-comer striker on this team as he was sold to Molde (pic 1). While this wouldn't be the worst thing it happen to strike fear in fans as they know we are already losing Tokic very soon. He was suppose to be our striker to replace him, but now that is gone. However, Bjornsson (pic2) shows what he can do with regular play time and should ease the fans as he broke the team scoring record for the year.

Great strides to see Stjarnan fans come out to support their team. Not only is this good for revenue for the team, but more fans means might be able to build a new stadium. We crush the attendance record that was help for two years by almost double.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE

View attachment 115326

Well we will see how close, or in reality how much more work we have to do, to play with the big boys.We take on three peat Barcelona. Barcelona will be all about trying not to lose by 10 goals. Hopefully our team isn't star struck when we play them. As for the other two teams (Napoli and Sproting CP) it might be hard enough to get a single point let alone a win. Let's just hope this year, if we can score first, we don't give up two quick goals. After scoring a goal we can't act like we won the Champions League.

I don't even know where to begin to explain. So let's start from the beginning...We open up at home against Barcelona (how we dreaded this day), but with our starters mostly getting a week and a half off they came out on fire. We actually would lead 2-0 at half. AT HALF!!! Sterling said after the match “I don't care we gave up two late goals. I don't think they believed to take us seriously especially after last year group stage results. Either way we played better than I could imagine.” after we tied the opening game 2-2 against Barca. Also Napoli and Sporting tied so we are sitting all tied in first place after one.

Next was Sporting CP on the road. Third place team and again the starters would have a week of rest mostly as our League ended just 5 days prior. We needed a tie and a quick goal to start the match seemed like it would go the same way as Barca, but the magic seemed to wear off as they would score two before half and then add another in the second half to make sure there would be no comeback.

Within the first ten minutes of the Napoli game there would be a goal, but the first ten minutes of the second half we came out and found two quick goals. A switch to tactics saw Stjarnan bunker down. Napoli only got 10 more shots off but only one would be on target as we would move into third place behind Sporting CP.

The fourth game would be played on Napoli's home turf. Surely they knew what we were going to do as we showed our hand the last 30 minutes of the previous game. Two trade off goals in the first ten minutes would take place. Then a goal in stoppage time before half saw us take the lead. Normally we don't score goals in our counter defense against big teams and yet we found two and on the road. It would take stoppage time in the second half for Napoli to salvage a point, but it would be enough to move us somehow into second place.

View attachment 115307

The re-match of Barca at Camp Nou. Sterling would let his boys play with the freedom like it was a home game even though it was at their place. After a crushing defeat reporters asked coach Sterling about his tactics and why not try to just go for the tie like the Napoli result. “This is Barcelona. For the last three years they have been unstoppable. Even if we go into our shell they are still going to score. We are getting to the point, and the confidence, these players can go out and form an attack on the road. The 0-7 result shows we are no where close, but we knew we weren't going to advance from the group stage." Still it would be a record for the worst defect in Champs Play for Stjarnan but Sterling was happy with the results. What they didn't know is that Napoli would beat Sporting CP and that result would still keep us in second place heading into the final match.

View attachment 115306View attachment 115305

So now it comes down to the final match. A tie is all we need. Well, that is counting on that Barcelona would take care of Napoli for us. With both games starting at the same time the scoring would be announced over the PA system at our stadium. It would be the first time at home that Sterling would come out with his shell tactic. After 13 minutes though it was 2-0 Napoli. Could it be even with a tie we would lose our chance of the magical run to the Knockout stage? At the 31 minutes it would be 2-1 in the Barca game and 1-0 as we would score the goal. The scores would stay that way into half. The Stjarnan fans would roar in the 56 minute as Barca would tie up the game. It looked as if even with a tie with both games we should advance. Sporting CP would throw everything they had at us to try to get the win. Within 3 minutes two goals would be scored. It wasn't us or Barcelona. Napoli would regain their two goal lead in the game. Now with just 12 minutes left it was up to us to hold the lead...Only two shots would be attempted in the final minutes and as the final whistle it seemed as if Iceland won it all. "Some people would like to call it luck for us to advance, well...I call it...well, luck I guess." said Sterling after the game.

We would clinch the league after the first game of the season, and everyone else seemed to just tie expect for FH. Apparently someone told them that the season was still being played as they stormed back to claim second. KR, again who is the only professional tea like us, somehow barely stayed above relegation stage. Could you just image them being dropped? Oh that would have been glorious, but they somehow sneaked by. Shocking how they dropped this year in the league. While it is great seeing them being terrible that does hurt our league though. Oh you sweet, sweet, double edge sword how you do so much damage.

Thank you fans. So a new stadium is in the works for us. Hopefully we can get it close to 20K off the bat, but that is a 15K jump and while I would love it I doubt it will happen. Will probably mean around 10-11K seating. So just means in about 43 years from now a bigger stadium here we come! Yeah, I said this will be a long save.
So I hope you all are enjoying this read.

Welcome Kike Mateo as our new assistant manager. Our's was out of contract and just month to month. Finally got to see someone better and who is willing to come to our team. This is the start of us hopefully getting some really good coaches now to fill out our training sessions.

Again not crazy amount of money, but that is a big increase than what we have been use too. Slow and steady is seeming to win for the league and again going up is always better than staying the same and/or going down. Still teams are not spending their money on players, but this income for most teams might be good for all. We are the best team financial wise and the first team getting a stadium (but I bet KR will somehow magically have one build before mine is and will have more seats than me).

2019 Season Recap and Awards

SEASON RECAP

View attachment 115237

Barcelona is 3-1 to win the Champs League for the fourth straight year. We have a 200-1 and yet we tied with them at our place. Can this magical run continue? However, we do have to face Milan in the knockout stage so the odds are saying unlikely.

View attachment 115236

Again some team suppose to finish bottom three ends in the top 3 mostly (Fylkir finished fourth this year), and some team who was suppose to finish top 3 gets relegated mostly (KR somehow forgot their was a season this year) and finished tenth. We never get the best match, but all we do is win and we won the league for the fourth consecutive year.

View attachment 115235

So we receive 14.98K for achieving first place in the league. Almost covers just our salaries for the year. Although it is rising slowly our salaries are rising even faster. Which is why we sold off a bunch of old people with big salaries to shave off our number.

View attachment 115234

Another year in the books and another year where all our revenue totals are moving up. Not only are we stockpiling our youth players we are also stockpiling our riches as all we do is just continue to collect the money from Champs League.

View attachment 115233

Two key injuries were to Kari Petursson for a total of 4 weeks (3 different injuries), and Jajalo who was injured on national team leave at the end of the year so only missed a few games, but was out for 6 weeks with a broken hand. It did give way to new youth player Baldur Bjornsson who did get to start in the 0-7 thrashing at Camp Nou. Gretarsson got called up due to Petursson first injury, and then was injured before playing his first senior cap for 2 months, so he got demoted to youth when he became healthy.

RECORDS AND AWARDS

View attachment 115232View attachment 115231

Larus Bjornsson showing why our team is going places despite losing a striker each year as he set a record high for both the team and league with 18 league goals (pic 1). With holding that title meant he automatically won the Icelandic Golden Boot award (pic 2) by an easy margin of five goals. Plus he is super young. Fans are curious of why he hasn't been in the lineup sooner. Either way at least one of our striker spots is filled for next year.

View attachment 115230

Logi Marteinsson looks to be super impressive for us despite not being a true AMC. He broke our team record that was held by our leading goal scorer Goujon Baldvinsson back in Sterling's first year. Shows how much our midfield has come (our AMC was more of a support than an attacking role and stayed further back prior to this year).

View attachment 115228

For the league our average attendance was 2,917 which was better than last year (so lets just assume this record will be set each year until we cap out at our new stadium in expansions) by a good 600 fans. Just wait until we start to max fill our 5K stadium out while we wait for the new stadium to be build.

View attachment 115225

Is it weird thinking that we should of won the Player of the year award? Well we didn't even though Bjornsson broke the scoring record (he did finish second), but I guess it is good that other players across the league are doing well. Lets just hope they can hold on to them unlike Sterling. Most are not professional, but it is hard for us as a professional team to keep our players. This is why we are making bigger strides than anyone else in the league.

View attachment 115224

So for best rookie we again claim the top three for this award. So we had our ST, AMC, and our MC win the award. Despite being young we just continue to dominate. Coach Sterling doesn't take all the credit saying the coaching staff deserves credit for how wonderful the team as progress.

View attachment 115223

Speaking of Sterling he again won the Icelandic Head Coach award. Sure it was only by 64 points and second place was a team that finished fourth. The coach who was third finished third in the league. So it's all about expectations for just league play, but I don't understand why it isn't for the year (for all competitions).

View attachment 115222

So five players made the list. Funny how Jajalo somehow didn't make the list. Still three on our back line did make it (way to go 18 year olds!) and our MC made it with our Golden Boot ST to finish it up.

2020 Season Preview

Ex players want to return, but that window has already closed

View attachment 115221

We are getting to the point where we don't need to sell anyone, yet as you can see we sold 6 people. Don't forget Tokic decided not to sign with us and left us on a free. Our striker that was suppose to replace him (Poroarson) was sold as well. That was after we sold Johannesson, at the start of the off-season, which a lot of people had pegged to replace Tokic if he couldn't comeback strong from his injury. Also lost our good midfielder cause of a weak (500K) transfer clause.

Now with our limit amount of players newspaper and twitter are coming up with articles of what players Sterling is going to be bringing in to strength the team. Sadly 3 of the 4 players are people who were on our team who left the club already. And two of them said they didn't want to play for our team since they wanted to play at a bigger club. So now not just am I losing all my good young people but they want me to pay millions of dollars to bring them back. Sterling just smiled at that notion.

So for starting the pre-season, which is not starting to be a tradition it seems like, is that we are selling off more people. Apparently our roster isn't short enough. Both sales are devastating, but one is probably worst than the other.

View attachment 115220

Apparently I deleted the wrong picture (took two of the picture that is posted and decided to delete the other player and not the double of the first). So in the picture you see our best centerback on our team. He just signed a new deal last year, and there was talks of a newer contract this year, but again the stupid release clause was in and we were struck by it again. He could of signed a new deal with us for a raise of about 3K a week, but the release clause was 30K less than what we had in our previous deal. Guess that was his way of telling Sterling that Stjarnan wasn't good enough for him as we had to just sit and wait until a team would swoop in and steal him away. While it would have been nice at the end of the year it happens in pre-season. Fans were shocked about losing another young star from this team.

The second we knew would happen, but I don't think that anyone thought it would happen in pre-season. Especially when coach Sterling allowed it to happen, since there was no release clause, but Jajalo was dealt and a shy less of 100K for him. Still we got a promising young goalkeeper talent last year who is suppose to be better than Jajalo in the long run. While it would have been nice to ease him in he will have to be the man now, and how do you replace Jajalo who leads our team in shutouts for the team.

With all the people we lost for the past year and pre-season Sterling still have enough to just fill the starting XI and bench. This year is worst since we only sport two center backs (our youth team isn't very good at that position) but if someone does go down with an injury don't think Sterling wouldn't hesitate for a second to call up one of them. Still right now that is what we have. Despite our center backs and lack of players we do have depth at every other position this year. So not all is lost. Lets just hope none of our center backs get injured this year.

With those two big changes lets take alook at who will be the starters for the up-coming season:

View attachment 115219
A name like that seems to be destine to be great at this club. At the tender age of 16 after signing a contract with our team he did appear in 9 games. Still just thrown in the fire (from Jajalo broken hand injury) he did a decent job. However he did give up 9 goals in those 9 games. More time as the starter should see that drop but we might be a couple years from that. It took Jajalo a season and a half to start posting shutouts and he was already a proven keeper, then again our track record with youth players being amazing might mean it could be the first full year (this year) that he plays.
View attachment 115218
Last year it was Nokkvason who got the nod as an 18 year old. This year we are good with an older player in AEgisson. He does have experience in the league with 56 appearances in the last six years. He didn't get much playing time early under coach Sterling, but now will play a bigger role. While Nokkvason will still see a lot of time here since Aegisson can actually is a jack of all trades who can play MC and AMC for our team.
View attachment 115217
So our jack of all trades player off the bench is now our other starting center back. We will live and die with our center backs since we only have two on the roster. Since Sterling is standing by his “I will not bring anyone new since they just want to use our club as a stepping stone.” this might be a very bad year if he gets injured. If he ins't very good, but your youth players are way worst than him.
View attachment 115216
Now being our stud center back and we will need every ounce from his this year. He does have 40 league games under his belt for only be 19 years old. I hope he can last very minute cause he probably will never be pulled from a game this year.
View attachment 115215
Sterling goes into his pool of youth players to pull him up to not only be on the senior squad but will throw him into the fire as he gets to be the starter for our squad. He has the stats and the role of defensive full back that Sterling loves for his player. Again just the second new player on the senior squad so he will have to grow up quick.

Last year this was our weakest spots. Now it turns out in one year to be our strongest. Valgeirsson got 10 league games last year at this spot (16 total in his career), and again his stamina will depend on how many games he will play. Still we have a couple of people to play this spot, but the games he played last year was amazing to help push our attack players up higher since he stays back more and is a force against our league opponents.
View attachment 115213
Got the most starts in his career last year with 12. He does have a glaring weakness (stamina) so when there is two games in a week he usually sits out one. Still he has grown into our best midfielder (last year it was hands down Hauksson) on paper and hopefully that will continue with all the playing time he is going to get.
View attachment 115212
50 league games (34 at DM) with all 16 games at midfielder coming last year. Was very good for us and looks to be a staple now at midfield. Still is one of the last people to carry a release clause, but his is 2.5M and his value is only 110K so I don't see a lot of people grabbing him up. He has been consistently getting offers but the max is 1 million. Again can play DM, but did so well last year he looks to stay up more often.
View attachment 115211
Played in 19 games last season and set our assist mark for the season. Still not a true AMC, but he is very good. Teams are finally getting wind of just how good he is especially with all the games he plays in without fatigue so now the race is on to keep him. Still we have a couple people now to cover who are actually AMC's but hands down he is the best of the bunch.
View attachment 115210
After the news that Tokic was being sold he did get the call to suit up to ease his way in to see how he played with the senior squad in 10 league games. Number was mostly inflated due to the end of the year to keep Tokic fresh for Champions League. In those ten games he did score 7 times, so he gets the nod over the older players who been on the senior squad longer than he has.
View attachment 115209
Before last year only had 13 league goals. Now up to 31 after setting records. He isn't an outstanding player on paper (at least potential ability) but with all the time and goals last season he is entrenched in the starting XI. Still only 19 he is young and plays very well. Now has played in 53 league games in four years.

BENCH
View attachment 115208
A 20 year old striker who during the first two years on the squad found time in 18 games in league play and scored nine goals. While he didn't get a single game last year for the senior squad was cause he was out on loan to IBV and scored 3 goals in 18 league games. So he has senior games under his belt (36 in 3 years) so if we do have an injury to our striker he will be looked upon. And it seems our strikers always like to get injury.
View attachment 115207
Oldest striker on the team at 24 (youth of this team amazes me) he has seen 47 league games although 18 came last year when he was on loan to FH while scoring 3 goals. In 2016 he was on loan to Fjaroabyggo where he had 20 appearances. For just our team he has played in 9 league games and scored 5 goals. So he can score for our team, just isn't used much. Most of the time, as with Svansson, will be in cup games and games during midweek.
View attachment 115206
Seemed to be a stud and has played well as he has logged 35 league games in 3 years. Seen time at three different positions, and probably will see that role agin this year as well. Sadly he doesn't play centerback for us.
View attachment 115205
What looked to be the replacement to Jajalo now becomes a backup to a youngster. Is decent, but now looks to be a life long backup. That is unless someone wants to purchase him, but with the lack of time on the pitch it might not come.
View attachment 115204
Very efficicent as a defensive Fullback. Might be one of those players though who will have to play out of position to play center back for our team. We will have to do something with only having two true center backs on our team. Still if AEgisson falters or needs to be used at a different position we are solid at left back.
View attachment 115203
Was a starter last year, but now experience trumps youth. He didn't progress as much as the rest of the team so right now it looks like his ceiling is here, but even if it is he is still very good for our league. He does have 32 league games so that's not to shabby for being only 19 years old.
View attachment 115202
With injuries and flurry of matches got to play in 14 league games last year. Is a very solid MC for our team. Another 24 year old player (where did all these old timers show up from?!), but maybe we need him to play more this year with some of these DM players to cover as DC if we need it.

The Group Stage has been drawn for the Deildabikar and right now it looks to be very favorable draws for us.We face off against only one of the top 5 teams last year in the league (Fylkir), and the only other team to stay up was Keflavik (sixth) who we didn't have trouble with when using our reserves last year. This should again be a good time to get match fitness and the youth players adjusted to our tactics.

However we will have to adjust to the new changes for Deildabikar. Normally it's just 10 matches, mostly straight wins and then move on to the league. This year changes it up since we have to play the Knockout Round of Champs League. Good thing is that our squad will be fully fit for the matches, but that means with extra games comes more pressure from our bench. Lack of centerbacks we will have to see something happen before and after those two Champ League games.

So we thought last year we might not win the league with a young and short bench. This year depending how rapid games might come will be a rough year with the lack of center backs.

Sure, we finish in first place, but it wasn't as easy as before (pic 2). Where did Vikingur R. come from? Fylkir tried its best to keep pace but it would be Vikingur R who tied us with the exactly same record. If that wasn't shocking enough the playoff's were super close. Sure we won, but we needed extra time in both the Semi Final and Final (first time for that) to win the game. Maybe losing Tokic and Jajalo is too much for this team to win it all this year.

As for Champs League the first game up was home where we would score first, and again see that lead disappear quickly as they would win easy 3-1. The second game was pathetic from both sides. You could tell that Sterling was more worried about his players health, and doing damage in his countries borders, as he came out in the shell tactic and his team only took two shots. Milan seemed angry to having to play our charity case. Since they only took 6 shots all game. With only 3 shots on target for both teams (1 for us) the game ended with a 0-0 draw where both coaches didn't talk to the press afterwards, but the fans of both teams would express their thoughts as they ran into the tunnel.

Last Years stats:
Went 6-1-0
Outscored Opponents 19-2
Had 8 clean sheets
Semi Final went to extra not a shootout

This Years stats:

For the second time in three years we have to go to extra time, but this time it would end in a shootout. That would be the start of the grumblings of letting go of some key players after the last three games going into extra time. That would quiet a little when the league play started, but again when it came time for the Borgunarbikar tournament the whispers would start again.

While scoring 10 points in four games would be great for most teams, even us in the later months, but fans looked at it as a disappointment. In the past five years we would only tie once, and we grabbed another tie to start out this year. We still are in first, but the league seems to be close so far for the top 5t eams by a separation of only 3 points. Breioablik has 7 points but has a game in hand on us.

We made the list! Well okay we have one person who is playing in one of the top leagues (honestly have no idea who, and pic 1), but I guess that is good. I really hope it's one of the young guys we sold who got sold to be a bigger team. Help out our national team (pic 2), but again the stories are flying that Sterling is going to bring back some players who were previously on the team. Sterling said he thought about it for center back, but as you can see still just two on the senior squad.

View attachment 115037

Wahoo! We made the list again as the biggest overachievers. Again, was it really us overachieving or just great luck on our side? Either way we will take the money and the title again. Last year didn't get it as we made it to Group Stage so I assume the world believes we should get their each year now.

View attachment 115036

This I am shocked about. Little secret, Sterling would sell off some of my guys for free (people on my under 19 team). There are some good people. I know our facilities are great and maybe that's why we always can replace people, but still I assume my youth players would be great on other teams senior squads. Sure I have 18 on my squad, but that means only 3 of them are not on my team.

All four games were league games. Three shutouts I think pretty much put those whispers for the last two months to rest as now we control first by seven points. Again it will come down to Champs league to see how we do, but again Coach Sterling is pulling all the right strings. KR somehow finds themselves in relgation (could this be the year? Oh my...), but right now it looks as the race for third will be the talking point of the season. Vikingur R. who had a great run in the Deildabikar seems to finally hit their stride.

Movin' on up, to the top thirty (pic1)! The climb is still going strong (pic 2) for European club rankings, but it would be Prottur R. who somehow did something amazing that got them to be the biggest rise of all the team by almost 100 spots.

View attachment 114976View attachment 114975

First time Sterling has asked for an affiliate club (pic 1) and got his wish and choose Haukar who just got relegated last year, but they do have decent facilities. None of our senior team will be sent, but Sterling said most of our promising young players will be sent out. “This will be the start to get the league to rise even more by helping out other teams in our league.” responded coach Sterling.

View attachment 114974

Someone was sold? Which under 19 player did they...wait, you mean it was a starter. Oh, how the misery comes to Sterling has the Board decided that the biggest offer for a player was good enough to sell him off. It wasn't a center back thankfully, and sparring we do have the players to fill in that spot. Still it's sad to see a young player be sent to a big club in Porto.

He would actually keep his starters for the league games, but would let his bench play in Champions League. Fans think this is the rebuilding year finally for coach Sterling. Still it is in the early stages, but we are favorites even on the road. Still a tie to Kairat at home might be signs of not playing our reserves when it comes in the later stages.

Still have a comfortable lead in the league, and right now it looks like it is paying off for Sterling to keep pressure on everyone else. So now the spot to watch is the next two spots as Valur and Fylkir are tied for second, although Valur does have a game in hand. KR finally woke up and realize league play was going on as they climb all the way up to sixth place. Still in 11 games our rookie goalkeeper Bjornsson has 7 shutouts. So let the bandwagons jump on now after being very impressive.

View attachment 114899

I am surprised it took this long for the Association to ask Sterling to take over as head coach. Sterling had this to say, “I am grateful. However, my time is really now with the club team. I can't take over as the NT Coach. Maybe down the line, but I can't physically do both jobs at the same time.” Most people this was just the diplomatic way of saying thanks, but the team isn't good enough for me to make any noise yet (they are rated 75th in the world). Their are already complaints that Sterling is hoarding talent at Stjarnan, but what would it be like if he was the NT coach. Funny thing is that he would of made 4 times the money in one year as the NT coach than all the years being at Stjarnan.

View attachment 114898

Another player sold on the senior squad. Sure why, not. This time it wouldn't be a starter, but just means another player needs to be called up from the under 19 squad.

Sterling likes to play with fire, or just showing his inexperience, as he kept playing reserves in the Champions League (reserves were match fit now for these games) and again one home game we would end in a tie. It didn't matter since we won away, but he has been cutting it close this year.

Would be the first time we would have a perfect month for the league. League was taken a couple days into September, so right now you see how good we really are. With the lack of center backs and losing our team leader assist man earlier in the year it looks like no one can slow us down. If you take us out of the league it looks like a very tight knit league. KA got out of the relegation zone but will they hold on after being promoted this year.

So it only took five years, but now the American Sterling is Iceland's most successful head coach (pic 1).The second picture just shows the rank and all the titles he has won with Stjarnan in his short time here.

View attachment 114805

This would probably be the earliest we won the league. If it wasn't, it was just by a couple of days. Still for how the Deildabikar and the year started I don't think most people thought we would crush the league. So much for that terrible 4-1-0 start to the league we had this year.

View attachment 114801

Soccer gods finally shown us a sliver of light. Not only did we get a center back as a youth player, but gave us an amazing one at that. I know the picture is taken in the October, but he didn't improve all that in that time. Still it was the first time we actually had someone come in as a two-and-a-half star current ability. Normally it is a half star, if we are in good graces with the gods a full star, but never like this. And a position that we desperately needed. That or the game felt bad for poaching all my young players. Wait a minute, is this a set up for just a quick turnover of disappointment when someone poaches him. For the love of...he is only 16 so lets not fret just yet.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE

View attachment 114804

Well we don't have to play against Barcelona, but they were actually a second seed draw this year, but we did end up against PSG who is one of the top options of winning it all. Also have Leverkusen and PSV. Let us have the amazing luck as we did last year where we some how got into the Knockout Stage. Maybe this is our payback for starting our reserves in the earlier matches. Still we have youth players at some key positions (GK, CB, LB, AMC,ST) which might be too much for us to handle in this group.

Coming into this year we were 0-1-4 in the Group Stage of the Champions League. Then again, we didn't have a home game against the third seeded team either. That was the case and our first win came. So while we have three points we also got blownout by PSG 0-4. It could have been worst, but luckily they weren't shooting very well. They had 28 shots with 14 on target. Ouch.

You ask why the slide this month in the league? We already claimed it. We had some youth players we just signed and some others on the under 19 we called up to see what they looked like with our team. Even with our record this month we still won the league by 20 points. It would be a fight for the second place as Por, where did they come from, moved all the way up to second. FH who looked dominate last year got relegated (what is it with a team finishing top 3 getting relegated?!). KA stayed up, although it is the first time that the last three teams in the league all had 22 points. Usually a team or two only has single digit points. Still our league is growing together and not just running way. Looking at you Stjarnan!

So much for Jajalo and all his records he stacked up. It would take just one year but Bjornsson set a new league record with 13 shutouts. Let's pencil him in for the NT senior squad despite being only 17.

View attachment 114712

How dominate were we. Well how about a team high record in points for the year. Still hasn't had a perfect season yet, and probably won't since coach Sterling does like to change up his lineups late in the year to give promising players a chance.

View attachment 114711

An easily 1,000+ increase to our fanbase for the year in the league. We still don't even have the ability to know when and where the new stadium will be built, but we got this type of turnout which is very promising. Maybe cause our team is made of all local players now and no foreigners on the team with Jajalo just leaving. Either way more revenues for us.

Let get the good news first. Sterling loves Group Stage in December. Coming in we were 2-0-1 and we got a tie this year. Still gives our monthly record the only positive. The ugly news is that in the past four games we only won 1 game. So for the Group Stage we ended up with just 6 points on one win. Not too bad with all those new players, but then our team saw this...

View attachment 114710

I did hope for two wins and maybe a tie. I only ended up with one, but still got 6 points, and how in the world did Stjarnan make the knockout stage again? Really liking this team despite all the changes too it. I am not going to question it, but just accept it either way.

2020 Season Recap and Awards

SEASON RECAP:

View attachment 114582

I see we are moving up even if it is still a three star (really need to stop losing young people). While it is good to see some other teams moving up in rep, it is not good that the next team to do so is Por (and they are the tenth best team in Iceland). Hopefully we can continue to climb in the rankings, but it is nice to see four other teams with a two-and-a-half star rep.

View attachment 114581

At least we will never get underachievers or overachievers for the league. We consistently stay in first, and that is fine by me. Still a 20 point win over second place means even with this young team that no time soon will a team challenge us for the title. As long as our team stays hungry and doesn't get complacent we should be fine. Then again how does your team get complacent when you are always shuffling in new faces each year?

View attachment 114580

Now up to 125K for TV rights. Now this is getting exciting. More fans coming to our games and now more fans watching us on tv. Sure it's not England or a powerhouse league, and we never will see huge payouts, but more people watching the better it will help our league. And attract more people to come play in it.

View attachment 114579

Our list was long, but you can see that only 4 people were sold (3 in pre-season with Tokic leaving on a free) and still we brought in 4.1 million in money. Still 19 people were sent to Haukar on loan after we estabilish a link with them. All were on the under 19 team, but only a few will probably ever see time on the senior squad. Six of them would be released at the end of the year when their contracts were up. Yes I know there was a Bjornsson, but he is not good trust me. Your not missing much.

View attachment 114578

So much for the link with Haukar. So Sterling sent them basically a new starting eleven. They were in fifth place when they got my players and went on a tear to finish first to earn promotion. Since they were in the same division as us now the link was severed. While I am okay it would have been nice to actually play against my reserves in league. Oh well...

View attachment 114577View attachment 114576

Guess we will go find a new club. They were the best club that has facilities so we decided to go there. Let' see how long they take before rising up to our division and the link will be cut again? Either way this might help out our nation as well. Luckily they are two divisions below us.

View attachment 114575

Another year ends and another year all our revenue went up. Also 25 million just from competition prize money! While that is great that means our salaries are on the rise too. Which although I am not too worried about. I rather it go up and people stay than people leave. (If you think I have a complex of people leaving I do not...yet)

View attachment 114574View attachment 114573

So coach Sterling went from making 60K an year (pic 1) to getting the board to even raise what they were offering to 80K (pic 2) for an extension. That is for the year so it comes out to be around 1,500K a week.

Team and Player Awards:

View attachment 114572View attachment 114571

Bjornsson won Icelandic Player of the Year (pic 1)! Which one you might ask since we have two. One set league record in shutouts and the other is coming off of his second straight year of double figure goals with 14. I thought it would be our GK but it went to the offensive player. With him beating out Kolviosson for goals by two it means that Bjornsson won the Golden Boot as well (pic 2). He did almost play every league game this year (19 out of 22).

View attachment 114570

Sure, don't care that we won the league by 20 points over Por, or that we had a 77% win percentage for the year. Let's give it to the guy who had under a 50% percentage and came out of no where to tie for second place in the league. Yeah lets gave him the Coach of the Year. Good for him, but the question will be can they beat the curse of getting relegated next year, and if so, will be fired like KA did to their coach a couple years back.

View attachment 114569

Only had three players who made the Team of the Year (CB, both ST). Wait the goalie who posted 13 league shutouts didn't make the team? Wow this is getting tough now. Still it might help us in the long run. The more they stay under the radar maybe we can keep these guys.

View attachment 114568

Hey first year we ever won this award. I will take it. The Fair Play Team of the Year for us is actually a big honor for Sterling. Keeping players eligible for matches is a balancing act especially with a small roster. Staying on our feet and not giving up silly slide tackles means less PK kicks as well since we were known to give up goals that way.

View attachment 114567

This can't be good. I mean it's really good, but is it really? Having set the record for youngest goal scorer in Champions League is great. Being at striker which our oldest is Bjornsson at 20 and just put in another youth player might cause problems. Still always good to have strikers on our team who can score especially now when it comes to cup games or games we need our reserves to play in.

2021 Season Preview

Just as Sterling takes a step ahead, he is still two steps behind

We got over the loses of Jajalo and Tokic pretty quickly and painlessly. Now the question becomes how do we move on from Marteinsson and Hauksson. Wait, only Marteinsson, was sold by the board last year for over 3 million. You are correct, although with tradition in the pre-season we like to sell off at least one person. This would come by Hauksson who was amazing for us got his wish as his release clause (2.5M) was accepted. With that change lets take a look at who will be the starters for the up-coming season:

View attachment 114443
A lock for at least a couple of years. Looks like we can turn into a beast and while we didn't do great in the champions group stage he did post a record high 13 shutouts last year in the league. So he now has 29 games underneath his belt with 17 goals conceded. Prior to his full season he was 9 games played and 9 goals. Now just waiting for the national team to call him up.
View attachment 114442
Is turning out to be a quality player even though it seems he has hit his celing. Also what is weird is that he is 25 years old and still on the team. Still 67 caps for the team isn't too bad and mostly now has been assigned to just right back. Still can play other positions, but seems we now have backups for those positions.
View attachment 114440
Coach Sterling just gushes about this player. We are lucky to have him, and being only 16 years old, he is already projected to be potentially one of the best players in the club as he played in 8 games last year. Already went up a half star in current ability since signing a contract. How can you not be impressed about him.
View attachment 114441
With depth now at the center back (and I mean one person) Sterling can finally give this 20 year old some rest. He got rest last year, but not as much as was needed since in his short 3 years of time has seen 59 caps at the senior level.
View attachment 114439
After a solid campaign in which we saw 10 caps for him, and some injuries, he looks to our lockdown future with being only 19 at this spot. That is if we can stay healthy and on the pitch. Sterling is hoping he can play in a minimal of 15 league games this year.
View attachment 114438
With the lack of depth he actually got to play the more important matches and sat out a lot of league play. He does have 23 caps for only being 18 years old, but now we will need to see more from him. It seems like the roster now is set. Only adding more depth to the roster so it should give more rest for non essential games where he can play more for league play. He was critical for us in champs league last year for the DM spot which is why didn't appear a lot in the league.
View attachment 114437
So far everyone has been a returner starter so this position is no different. Runarsson has the most caps out of anyone on the team with 87. Also he is overall the best player we have on current ability. He did tend to move to DM in some games to let a youngster get some time, but Sterling hopes this year will mostly be just MC.
View attachment 114436
With the sell of Marteinsson last year he got the call up and didn't disappoint really. Sure he has 14 caps and no goals, but he held his own (for the most part) and was able to show enough to start over Knutsson for this spot after Hauksson left in pre-season. Sterling has gone with youth most of the time and this time was no different as we replace one of our better people last year with a 19 year old.
View attachment 114435
Hey look another player named Aegisson. We found him on the under 19 squad and is a true AMC. So with 14 caps under his belt after being toss in the fire looks to be iron forged already for this year for being just a 17 year old. Sterling thought about reverting back to a supporting defensive role, but his role is more of attacking and while he was super shaky last year decided to roll the dice and keep it for the full year.

Made Tokic be an after thought after he scored in double digits in league play last year. Right now looks to be the best overall ready striker as he has 19 goals in just 27 caps. Plus we plays very well off of Bjornsson.

While Kolviosson might be the best striker on the team the best scorer has got to be Bjornsson who has claim the Golden Boot the last two years. It looked like he hit his ceiling last year, but now showing he still has a chance to improve his 45 goals in 72 caps. Either way this is the best strikers we had at this club and who has stayed together for more than a year together.

BENCH

Sterling doesn't care if the scouts and everyone else thinks he is not good enough for our squad. Maybe it is true, but when it comes to league play he can still be very valuable. He started all the league games as center back until we got your prize youth player, but played well for us to help Bjornsson league leading clean sheets. He is also only 24 but now does have 49 caps.

Seeing less and less time with how good our strikers are and was bumped from first striker off the bench to second. He isn't great, but seems to do well when we do use him in spot situations (more cup matches than league games). Which is why he only has 24 caps and being 21 years old.

For being relegated to the bench last year from a starter from the previous three years he still got a lot of playing time (11 caps) to now move up to 46 caps for his career. He saw most of the time as a defender, but this time he might see more time as a midfielder. Still is solid even as a 24 year old player.

Well for how Bjornsson played last year, and it looked very shaky at the start of the season, he no longer will see any light on the field as long as Bjornsson is healthy. Still is weird that while it seems he has been on the team for ever backing up our starter he is only 20 years old.
View attachment 114428
For being 20 years old and mostly a backup he does have 38 caps. Sterling seems to be wrong about this one since after starting his potential seems to drop. Still while that is mostly due to how good our team is, he is still very reliable when it comes to playing against the league.

Pretty much the same boat as Helgason. Again 20 years old and has 44 caps. Excels on the team for our tactics as just a defensive wingback. Even if there is an injury or our starter needs a rest he does have the ability to step in without missing a beat.

Again got to see a lot of playing time with all the quick matches as he now has 29 caps to his name. He is one of the older guys on the team (25 years old), but is a very solid replacement at midfield. He might be the linchpin for our bench despite only playing one position.

Yes, this is the eighth player on the bench. Our bench is growing! He got in 4 league games last year. Sure he has better ability than Bjornsson, but how do you replace him with a 17 year old who hasn't score a goal in the league yet. He does have promise though which is why he is the first striker off the bench. Despite not scoring a league goal he is the youngest goal scorer in Champs league though.

Young and doesn't have stamina issues like Valgeirsson. Maybe he will take over the spot this year, but right now he is mostly just on call when he is tired with quick succession matches. He does have 22 caps under his belt with most coming last year just to keep Valgeirsson fresh for the more important matches than the league play. Still the time didn't hurt as his current ability has skyrocketed.

The only 3 teams from the Pepsi-deild karla league are IBV (fourth last year), Breioablik (seventh), and IA (tenth). Breioablik should be our biggest challenge, but again this year we won't to work until the knockout stage.

It is against Barcelona so it might not be the to year to worry about advancing in Champs League, but you also don't want to set the worst lost record for Champs league. We already lost at their place two years ago 0-7. This seems to be a better squad despite losing 4 key members from the last time we faced off.

2021 Deildabikar

This was a very weird year for us in the Deildabikar. We went back to being undefeated and had 8 points on second place. For Bjornsson who ended league play with a whooping 13 shutouts, but this new year with a better squad he would only post 2. We also allowed a goal in 7 different games as well. Our most in a long time. Still while through all of that we just dominated play. Only Breioablik was able to crack double digit shots against us and they were one of the teams we shut out. Yet other teams would have maybe 4 or 5 with just two shots on target. Still somehow one would fall in.

Again KR is the biggest under achieverssince they couldn't make it out of the group stage. They really love just under performing. If they keep this up for much longer they might lose their professional status. As for Champs League we wouldn't make much noise in the Knockout Stage as we would lose both games (2-4 at home, and 0-1 away). With them having a huge leg up on us and playing at their place for the second leg all they did was sit back and relax. We threw everything we had and nothing was to show for it as they would score one goal against us.

Well so much for having a person in the elite leagues. I bet he got loaned out, either way this means one of two things. One is that all of the best Icelandic players are mostl yin our league (highly unlikely) or that there isn't any world class Iceland players out there after some of them retired (highly likely).

View attachment 114256

This was a complete surprise. We shot up the ranks with now having 12 people. They aren't all starting or on the senior squad, but coach Sterling already is getting claimed of hoarding elite players (since he sends out at least a full team to our affiliate). Still many wondered what would of happened if he did accept the NT coaching job of how many players from Stjarnan would be on the NT already.

View attachment 114255

So the odds are not going up for most teams. We are back to having 3 teams at 1000-1 to win the league. We are evens for the second straight year (this trend probably will never be question any time soon) and Breioablik seems to be the best team although he easily took care of them in group play already. KR shocking is suppose to finish third, but with them and how they started off this year who knows. They could finish third or be relegated. Again the league is fighting for second as we are just on damage control of not trying to lose any more players.

Month record: 4-0-1
All-Time Record: 27-2-3
All-Time Frabaer Bikar Record: 5-0-0 (2 times in extra, with 1 ending in a shootout)
All-Time Borgunarbikar Third Round Record: 3-0-3 (3 times in extra, with 3 ending in a shootout)

For the fifth time we would win the Frabaer Bikar, and the third time by the result of 2-0. Our defense finally got mentally sharp since they continue to hold most teams under 10 shots in a game, but we did post four shutouts in the month.

Record: 3-0-0
All-Time Record: 19-2-0
Shocking that we have not lost a league game in this month ever under Sterling. It's been awhile since we are not sitting in first place after the first month. Yet that is what we are doing although we are only one point away with a game in hand. No one is worried, and now fans are wondering if we can go undefeated for the year.

I know it is early but it is the first time we have two players in the top three for the league in assists. KR again is showing they don't care about results as they sit in tenth place without a win. Haukar who got promoted by our players last year look to be sent down this year with the lack of Stjarnan players.

Three keys to the month:

Another record broken for attendance. You would think this would be broken each year, but the record was set two years ago.

View attachment 114228

You would think our bench would do well. We even brought in Bjornsson in extra time to try to win, and we couldn't even do it. It seems like every other year this game goes into a shootout. For the fifth year they won't even have a chance of winning this cup which is the only cup Sterling has failed to win. That and of course Champs League, but we at least have a very real chance in the Borgunarbikar Cup than Champs League.

Now rumors are being written in newspapers across the country that coach Sterling is looking to buy players from foreign clubs and now the list has grown from 3 to now 7 of previously Stjaranan players. Still most are going to just cost millions to take too, and well our money is all vaulted up so no money will be spent by Sterling. “We offered them money to stay on this team. Even in negotiations said we would pay above market value to not have a release clause. They didn't want to do that or stay on the team. Now that we are making noise throughout the world they want to come back. Plus, now we have to pay for that to happen. Thanks but no thanks.” said Sterling.
