After completing these deals, chairman Prince Harry felt that the first team squad had too many players, which lead to several players leaving on loan.
Diafro Sakho: The striker joins Burnley on loan for the season, where he will get some valuable game time.
Winston Reid: The solid CB will be a great reinforcement for Crystal Palace as they fight to avoid relegation.
Julian Brandt: Julian will move north to Sunderland, to get playing time at a high level.
Abou Diaby: Sadly, with so many new players, Prince Harry felt the need to decrease the wage bill. This saw injury-prone Abou being considered surplus to requirements. The tall frenchman joins Julian Brandt at Sunderland on a free transfer.
Prince Harry had the following to say about the window: I am extremely pleased with our dealings this summer. I believe we have the strongest squad in the Premier League at the moment, and have an extreme depth, I think any 11 of our players will form a squad capable of fighting for a top 4 spot. We might have some starting difficulties after making this many changes to our first team, but I believe in building for the future, and in this squad, we have potential that no other Premier League club can match. Our fans have a very entertaining season to look forward to.
This completes the Gunner-squad for the first part of the season, and sees the following players form the squad for the coming season:
