After the Queen was assassinated, many West Ham fans were left unsure about the club's future with no chairman to guide the club. With no points gained from the team's three opening games in the Premier League, the board have decided to appoint a West Ham legend as the new chairman in an attempt to regain the fans trust and try and move the team away from the relegation places.
Sir Geoff Hurst, scorer of over 250 goals for the club, will hope his knowledge will help the Hammers to push up the table and grow their already great history as a top club in the country. It is reported that current manager Tony Pulis will remain in charge for the time being, although a continuation of the club's current form could soon put an end to his time in charge at the club.
When interviewed, the new chairman was adamant he was the right man for the job, saying "I am honoured to return to this great club as chairman and will give my all to ensure that West Ham have a bright future."
