Still not looking great for Newcastle though at the bottom! Man Utd still unbeaten as well at the top, very impressive start for them.

QPR October Update

Another dissapointing month is where 'keeper Matthew Ryan didnt make a single save bringing his save to goal ratio to 0:18. Like seriously what the actual ****. He is an embarresment to the club, the fans, the other players, the premier league, Club Burugge, his mum, his dad, his siblings, Australia, Osciana, The name Matthew, The name Ryan, the goal posts, the crossbar, the net, the figure 6.25 million, the staff at QPR, The paper his contract is signed on, the ink he used to sign his contract, the pen he used to sign the contract, the colour blue, the colour white, any kind of striped pattern, the number 18, the football, the earth, God, Allah, Satan, Vishnu, the flying spagetti monster and eternal life itself. I am too furious to do the update now. i will update this will the full update in due course. NOT HAPPY- Higher Power

In October the team continued it's great form, winning 2 out of 4 games. The only loss this month was away to Arsenal, which isn't a place where we expected to gain points, while in all our other games we have met expectations and won enough points to put us in a position to challenge in the race for Europe.


A 3-2 away win at West Brom was a great way to start the month, with all 5 goals coming in a crazy 1st half at the Hawthorns. A disappointing away loss at the Emirates was quickly put behind us as we picked up a draw against Tottenham at home and then beat Crystal Palace 2-1 as well to give us 7 points from October.


Best of all, our results this month have lifted the team up to 6th in the table. After a very poor first month we are delighted with how the team's performances have picked up and have put us around the European qualification places. We hope Tony can continue to lead the team to more strong results.


Hammer of the Month - Mauro Zárate gets the award this month after 4 important goals which were crucial to both wins this month. A mention must also go to Ryan Bertrand who has also performed admirably and has the most key tackles in the league this season.

Middlesbrough Chairman Tommy Rodgers looked heartbroken at his monthly press conference, after the Boro only managed one point out of a possible twelve. Middlesbrough looked comfortably beaten by Leicester with a 2-0 defeat away at Riverside, nevertheless Mark Bunn pulled off some great saves and was recognised for a great performance.


However Mark Bunn praise was short lived after a dreadful display at the 3-0 lost against Man Utd and led to Chairman Rodgers calling onto bring on Jed Steer as his replacement. Even Man Utd manager Diego Simeone said Middlesbrough was a broken and needed some drastic reform it wanted to avoid the drop.


Even playing at Riverside couldn’t help Middlesbrough salvage a point, as yet again another they suffered another lost against Watford 3-1. Middlesbrough had one point in the bag at half time but Watford managed to put two goals past Mark Bunn by the end of the match. Middlesbrough’s fans were critical of the squad blaming their low work rate for the performance of the league.


Summer signing Connor Wilkinson grabbed his first goal of the season during a 1-1 draw against Sunderland, but Adam Forshaw was seen to be the best Middlesbrough player on the pitch.



Words From Rodgers

Chairman Rodgers said he was growing impatient with the lack of success at Boro but was confident that Monk could turns things around. Rodgers said “we were predicted to be at the bottom premier league and we currently are, so it can only go up from here however if we need a new manager or new signings I would be willing to bring in new changes”.

Kudos to Simeone who has tightened up the very leaky defense not that you can get mad with a perfect month. Huge games at Old Trafford to start November against Inter to secure top spot in the Champions League then Chelsea come to town looking to win to return to the top of the table. Are we now better than Jose's squad?

Cardiff Early Season Update

After a poor start to the season, Russell Slade has turned fortunes around at the club and Cardiff are now starting push back up the table. The season started with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace with our only shot on target from the penalty spot. This was following from a thumping from Stoke City. A 4-0 loss really brought the club down after an impressive first season in the Premier League and the players now know that survival in this league is not guaranteed. We then went out of the COC in the first possible round after a penalty shootout against lower league opposition in the form of Bristol City. With this season more about survival than anything else, going out of the cup is not a major concern but being unable to beat lower league opposition is still a worry. We then lost 2-1 at Anfield to end a very disappointing August.

September was a much more impressive month and started with a 2-0 win against Leicester. Late goals from Austin and Ecuele-manga gave us our first win of the season. This was soon followed by our second win as we beat Watford 2-1. A late goal from Troy Deeney could not start a comeback as earlier goals from Jones and Austin was enough to secure a vital 3 points. The month ended slightly disappointingly as we fell to a 3-2 loss to Man Utd. While there is no shame to losing to Man Utd, it is disappointing to lose after being 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes.

October was a poor month for our defence as we let in 9 goals in the 4 games we had this month. It started with a 3-2 loss to QPR. This was then followed by a 3-3 draw with West Brom. This meant we had conceded 3 goals in our last 3 games. Our last 2 games were both at home and started with us throwing away another 2 goal lead, this time against Sunderland. Early goals from Orellana and Austin were unable to secure us the victory and if we are to do well this season then we need to solve the problem of our leaky defence. The final game of October was a very impressive performance against Arsenal. We won the game 2-1 thanks to Austin and Mason but what really impressed me was the fact that we had more shots, shots on target and possession than the opposition which is outstanding considering the opposition is Arsenal.

At the end of October we sit in 12th​ place which 5 places above our pre-season prediction. Charlie Austin is currently the second top goal scorer in the league only 2 goals off the top and Makoto Hasebe is currently our highest assister on 3. With only 3 teams conceding more goals than us its obvious that we need to improve at the back. We are already looking for a new central defender and a new goalkeeper for the January transfer window and hope to strike deals for these positions as soon as possible.

After a good start to the season, Prince Harry had begun to put faith in his appointment of Leonid Slutskiy as Arsenal manager. But a terrible end to October may cause critics to claim that this Arsenal side should not be considered title candidates.

Arsenal 2 - 1 Watford
We continued our good form in September by beating Watford at home. Goals from Aboubakar and Oxlade-Chamberlain gave us a 2-0 lead, before Igalho made things exciting. Very pleasing to see Slutskiy giving a start to Chambers at right back, who in turn produced a MoM-performance.

Manchester United 1 - 1 Arsenal
In the biggest game of our season so far, we travelled to Old Trafford to face Simeone's terrifyingly strong United side. In a very even game, between two great sides, and two new managers, a draw was a fair result. We took the lead through Aboubakar in the second half, but we couldn't hold on, and Rooney scored the equalizer 12 minutes from time. It was a hard faught affair, but we're pleased to come away from Old Trafford with a point. Hopefully we can grab all three points when Simeone's boys visit the Emirates.

Arsenal 3 - 1 QPR
We produced another solid performance in the next game, beating a very solid-looking QPR. Our old Judas, Robin Van Persie, gave QPR an early lead, and in character, limped off 7 minutes later. We came back with a vengeance in the 2nd half, however, and tiki-taka'ed our way to a convincing win. Goals from Coutinho, Sanchez and Aboubakar meant all 3 points stayed in North-London. Coutinho was named MoM after another fantastic performance by the little Brazilian.

Sunderland 1 - 3 Arsenal
We then travelled north, to what has become somewhat a bogey-team for us, despite being one of our favourite teams to negotiate loans/transfers with. We once again managed to grab all 3 points, after Özil and Sterling gave us an early 2-0 lead. Brazilian genious Ribeiro pulled one back for Sunderland, but that man Coutinho once again proved his worth, by scoring the final goal. The 3 AM's all scored and had great games, as Sterling was named MoM.

Arsenal 2 - 0 West Ham
We continued our winning streak after beating London rivals West Ham. They have just gone through a change in ownership, as my grandmother had more pressing things to take care of than being beaten by her grandson year after year. Now things are looking better for them, but we showed them who the bigger London-team is.
Goals from Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sanchez gave us the win, as Baines produced a MoM performance. At this point, the table was very pleasent viewing, as we held top spot!

Arsenal 2 - 2 West Brom
We only had to beat West Brom at home, who played Fernandinho as a striker. Surely this shouldn't be a problem.... But I guess not. Leighton Baines gave us the lead with a trademark free kick, but new-born striker Fernandinho equalized only a minute later. We kept dominating possession and creating chances, but it was Fernandinho who got himself on the scoresheet again to give West Brom the lead in the second half. I couldn't believe my eyes, but at least Sterling managed to get us an equalizer, to win a point 9 minutes from time. I fear that this may be where our season turns sour, as we drop points in games we have to win, if we want to fight it out for the title in May.

Cardiff 2 - 1 Arsenal
And just like that, what looked so promising 2 games ago is now a hard struggle to catch up with Man Utd. Sterling scored after only a few seconds here, but that may well have been what cost us the match. We let Cardiff dominate the game, and didn't create enough. With 20 minutes remaining, we were still up, but lost our concentration as Charlie Austin grabbed himself yet another goal to equalize. Only 6 minutes later, we were losing, as Joe Mason gave the Welshmen the lead. After defending a lead for 70 minutes, we couldn't transform our mentality, and ended up with a real lacklustre display. All credit to Cardiff for sticking at it and grabbing a deserved win.

Three very even games have given us 7 points. We top our group, 2 points ahead of Shakhtar, but can't afford to lose the away game in Ukraine if we want to stay top.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Birmingham (5-6 after penalties)
Our kids couldn't beat Birmingham, despite a couple of first-team players getting a run-out. Lukaku scored the goal, as Zelalem was the unfortunate one to miss the deciding penalty. Pleasing to see 17-year-old Argentinian Diego Zaragoza get his debut.

November:
We face Swansea and Middlesbrough at home in the league, as well as Hull away. We really need 9 points from these games, so hopefully we can find our form again. We also start the month playing Shakhtar away. A draw in Ukraine is acceptable if we beat Galatasaray and Dinamo in the final two games, to finish top of our group.
My doubt has grown since last time, but still, in Slutskiy we trust!
 
Loving the detail in these chairman updates! :)

I'll be posting the November update tonight! (not long off The January transfer window)
