Tom Cleverley.......... HOW!!?
Gibbs hasn't had a serious injury in ages.
Arbeloa's never been brilliant, but he was included in squads for previous tournaments. I've included Jones because of his defensive stability, which I think Henderson still lacks a bit, and I've only selected one right-back because we don't have many good ones, and Jones and Shaw should be able to cover there when needed. Carrick's a good player, but I think him and Gerrard aren't a defensively sound partnership, and since we're probably going to play two holding-midfielders, there's no point taking him.Big call.
Also the wrong call.
Yeah, but he's not very good.
Oh god please no. I like Phil Jones but he should be nowhere near the England team as a midfielder. Not that he's bad at it, but Jordan Henderson offers everything he does but with the added capability to actually do something offensively too.
Only one specialist right-back, no Carrick and playing Phil Jones over Wilshere and Huddlestone? It's bold, I'll give you that.
Great backup, yes, though I'm split between taking him and Gibbs. Good as Cole has always been for England, he's not getting any games, and I'm loathe to give someone a spot in the squad if they're not getting minutes. In my eyes he JUST has the edge of Gibbs, but I'd feel bad doing it.
Predictions for the game tonight vs Denmark?
I'm thinking (hoping) a 2-1 win. Sturridge and Rooney and a Bendtner wonderstrike from 40 yards
Did anyone hear/see Sol Campbell's interview where he stated the FA were racist because they didn't make him captain? I was listening to it on a BBC 5live podcast last night and work and WOW! He stated that he should have been England captain for 10 years. He also stated around the time Beckham was named captain he believed he was the best defender in the world. He also said Beckham was made captain because of the whole brand thing and that if he was and i quote "white" he would have had a better chance of being captain. This alongside him stating that if anyone else was under the same amount of pressure he was under during his career then they would kill themselves!
Honestly if you haven't listened to it then please do, it was so cringey and after listening to it i think he answered his own question to why he wasn't made captain. Not only is he showing arrogance of the highest degree he is also factually wrong, the racist FA first of all have no say in who is captain but this is the same "racist" FA who made Paul Ince captain who Campbell played under!
Sturridge with Rooney behind would probably be best, although he has played on the wing for us this season. If he's playing on the wing, then expect Rooney to play upfront with Wilshere behind him.Would like to have seen shaw start oh well, lets see how it goes! Commentators reckon sturridge is playing out left what do you guys think about that I know he did well playing there for chelsea but would like to see him in the middle but then that means rooney in behind or would you go two up top?
On a side done tenner double spain and england so expect both to lose

Yeah, that's true with Woy, although Sturridge has proven that he can play on the wing. The only problem with that, though, is that Rooney as a lone striker probably won't work very well. And don't worry mate, it happens to the best of us, I'd almost forgotten all about it!Isnt that a problem with england though we always try and fit players in a system rather than put players in their best position? I'd rather see sturridge up top personally
Also I apologise if my comments in the premier league thread the other day where a bit over the top I am on nicotine patches right now and an absolute **** to be around and I apologise because I feel like I took some of my frustrations out on you
The only thing close to accuatre is the Beckham brand thing, something Barnes also said. But Barnes also pretty much threw out the rest of Campbells other points.
The sad thing is, I have no doubt that Campbell, like many black players would certainly have faced prejudice, and racism, some of it institutional. But rather than talk about that, he goes for the sensationalist point (about himself of course) to sell his book.
As you say, he actually gives away the reason why he wasn't made captain...
Unfortunately, his comments seem to have resulted from the blame culture that exists in modern Britain.I think its depressing and if it was true that the FA didn't select him (even though its not their choice) because he is black then why didn't he say something before hand and waited until he released a book? I personally think him using racism in this way is as bad as someone being racist itself.
