And i used Mikel because as you say his range is brilliant and his pass% is sensational just like Carrick. Also like Carrick he is only really good for one role and when things arn't going Chelsea's way his performance is highlighted as a very poor one just like Carrick.
Carrick wipes the floor with Mikel with his passing ability, how can you not understand this?
Mikel:
0.4 key passes
49.5 passes per game
90% success rate
3.7 successful long balls per game

Carrick
1 key pass per game
73.1 passes per game
90.1% success rate for passes
6 successful long balls per game

So carrick is pretty much the same pass accuracy but makes longer passes and makes many more passes per game

Like Germany will take Gomez. Gomez is **** at everything but scoring. Can't dribble. Can't pass. Doesn't join up play, but because he's very good at one thing and there's a shortage of others that can do it, he will be in the starting line up.

This is the thing, England is obsessed with trying to create all rounders who specialise in nothing.

If Hodgson plays a 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 I honestly only see Lampard sitting on the bench anyway.

Barry and Parker through the middle. Which is silly, because the way Roy likes to play, Carrick is perfect for it, its why he used Murphy at Fulham

He is the ultimate opportunist. He can sniff out even the smallest of opportunities and finish them. Type of player who will use his *** to push the ball in the goal as long as it is legal

Honestly, he scares me a lot more than Ribery or Robben. With them, chances are going to be created and you know that they're going to really give you a rough time, but they **** up, they get tired, they get pulled out of position or the man they're looking for gets marked out. With Gomez, the second he gets the ball in the area (which is like every touch he has because the man just lives in your box) you just get that feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach because he's always going to be dangerous. As we've been talking about Milan, it's the same feeling you'd get when you watch Pippo Inzaghi.

He probably will, most of Lamps decent performances of late have been when Chelsea have reverted back to a 4-3-3 to box teams in.

I never said Mikel was better than Carrick, i just said they play a similar role.

Still struggling to see how anyone would want Barry over Carrick, honestly expected Roy to know better.

He said he couldnt see that Carrick was better than Barry, which means that he doesn't even recognise that Carrick is a different player, and the only regista in the side.

and yet, Carrick has played twice as many games than Mikel. But still, Carrick is the better passer. But Mikel is not an anti-footballer, not even close.

Whilst I would say that Carrick is better than Mikel, again stats with no context. Carrick is ideally suited to how United play because of all the times Mike has said in this topic. If there's a club you want to be at, when you're a Regista looking for a diagonal ball to an excellent winger, it's Manchester United.

Also where did Carl say that Mikel was better? o.O

The stats are per game, so how many games played doesnt really come into it.

I agree with you here but the good thing is that Bayerns team are not exactly the best of pals. We frustrate them by defending deep and closing them down and they get annoyed with each other, start to slap each other and Gomez will have his famous mood swings

Apologies for going off topic. Wont post anything more

what are you saying? That Carrick only has good stats because he's at Man Utd? Carl was saying they were similar players, I disagree

if anything the fact that Mikel has played less should inflate his stats slightly, similarly to Gerrard (which you agreed with I think as you bolded it)

I think we can all agree that Carrick is better than Barry and Gerrard, so Carrick not going will be a problem.

I can't believe people are still having this discussion. Some things never change.

I've never rated Barry, think he's overrated personally. Carrick is better than him without a doubt, he does his job, albeit sit in front of the defence and make a pass every now and then. But better than Gerrard? lol
