Fish returns to Liverpool!
In a strange period for Liverpool, which saw them seemingly ownerless for 6 months, Mr God Fish has returned to Liverpool. The self made sofa tycoon had previously disappeared from the footballing scene, and many wondered where he had gone. Mr Fish released the following statement earlier though:
"My apologies for my apparent disappearance. It wasn't my choice as it happens, but in events not too dissimilar to a BlackAdder episode, me and a few of the the support crew here at the club went on a massive night out. The culmination of this was us sailing around the Shetland Isles for 6 months, as we aimed to reach the North Pole. It was only when we noticed that it had rained for the entire 6 months, that we thought something had gone wrong. Still, I'm back now, and ready to whip this rabble into shape. Looks like they need as well!
Mr Fish also pointed out that he did not condone his actions, and that if you planned on sailing to the North Pole, you should at least take someone who knows what they are doing.
Liverpool have really struggled this season after a 5th place finish last year, and find themselves down in 11th. Brendan Rodgers lost his job earlier this month, to be replaced by Liverpool icon Rafa Benitez, a man who Fish has announced his delight at being able to work with. Having been in Istanbul in 05, Fish has said that "the man breathes Liverpool. He deserves to be our manager, and we will be backing him to the fullest extent."
Fish also said "we've been drawing far too many games. We've lacked the killer instinct this season, and we will be looking to resolve that issue. We'll let you know if there is any transfer news, but a striker is a priority"
In addition to their 11th place league position, Liverpool have Wolfsburg in the EL 1st knockout round, and Wolves in the FA Cup 3rd round. Unfortunately, the club is out the Capital One Cup, to local rivals Everton. Liverpool have only lost 4 in the league, but 9 draws has cost the club.
A full analysis of the clubs performance this season will be available on January 31st, following the conclusion of the transfer window.
