Newcastle United fought against everything in the second half to keep their unbeaten record alive but their first half performance was enough to take all 3 points. The Magpies got straight to the point as they attacked from kick off and after a succession of quick passes, Yohan Cabaye played Aubameyang through to slip the ball in the net in the 1st minute. Aubameyang managed to double his tally and Newcastle's lead in the 22nd minute after he held the ball up on the edge of the box before executing a neat turn and powered the ball into the top corner of the net. Then the game looked as good as over when an over the top through ball found the feet in-form Papiss Demba Cisse who sped forward before chipping the keeper in the 41st minute. The second half saw Newcastle under pressure for the most part but goals in the last 10 minutes from Gervinho (82) and Johan Djourou (90) werent enough to break the Magpies.

After a start of attacking exchanges from both sides it was Newcastle who go the better of Chelsea first with Papiss Demba Cisse smashing home from a Junior Hoilett cross in the 28th minute, the Senegalese number 9 has now scored 4 goals in 5 games since his return from injury. The second goal came in the 44th minute from Hoilett himself who played a tidy one-two with Cisse before tucking it under the keeper. Then the second half saw no reply from Chelsea and Newcastle relaxing, that was until the 70th minute where the numbers board went up and the crowd went wild to see that their goal hero, Demba Ba, was about to make his return. Cisse made way for him who recieved a standing ovation himself, but an even bigger ovation was given to the long absent Ba. The unfitness was clear, as was the lack of match practise, but he looked lively and willing. The Senegalese duo are back!

Modern Newcastle legend Papiss Demba Cisse scored the quickest goal in the Premier League this season after netting while the game was just 29 seconds old. He showed his renouned pace as he sprinted to get on to the end of a Cabaye long ball as he gracefully touched it down and slid the ball past Ben Foster. Newcastle scored again just 4 minutes later as their talented French attacker Hatem Ben Arfa lingered outside the box and recieved Junior Hoilett's pullback and unleashed a curling shot across the keeper. The final goal of the game came in the 37th minute from Junior Hoilett after a Birmingham corner came to nothing and Hatem Ben Arfa cleared the ball which Hoilett ran onto, rounded the keeper and tucked it away.

Newcastle United advance thanks to first leg domination

Inter Milan had it all to do at The San Siro after being trounced on Tyneside but Newcastle new there wasnt much they had to do to advance. It was confidence rather than complacency for Newcastle's fans as they used this match to keep an eye on Demba Ba and see how he fared, in his first start for 5 and a half months. It was nice to see him start up front with Cisse in a 4-4-2 formation that Hutchinson hasnt used since last season it seemed to benifit Ba more than Cisse as the latter has grown to accept leading the line recently and has been in form doing so. Demba Ba managed to complete the full 90 minutes and looked as fit as he was all last season, however, he knows, as well as everybody else, that he faces a long hard fight to stay at Newcastle United.

Newcastle will face Olympique Lyonaiss in the Quarter Final

Newcastle United gained a priceless win in the race for the Barclays Premier League title after overturning 2nd place Manchester City at St James' Park. Many now believe that in the remaining 7 games Newcastle can stay resiliant and become the new invincibles of the Premier League. Newcastle unusually didnt come firing out the blocks this afternoon after they were very flat in the first half and so in the 33rd minute Edin Dzeko gave Man City the lead to capatilize on Newcastle's poor performance. Hutchinson's wise half time words clearly had an effect on his players as 5 minutes after the restart Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke free to pull the Magpies level. The rest of the half was a firey exchange with both sides going for it, but it was Newcastle who got the decider when starlet Junior Hoilett grabbed the goal from a tight angle on 86 minutes to secure a vital 3 points.

Swans crushed by Magpies as they can smell title

Title success is becoming growingly inevitable as Tyler Hutchinson's side are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this year. Swansea were their latest victim as they smashed 4 goals past them, the highlight being a delightful solo goal from Papiss Demba Cisse. Cisse opened the scoring on the half-hour mark after nutmegging the defender before sending the keeper the wrong way, the Senegalese goal machine then added his and Newcastle's 2nd in the 43rd minute after drifting in from the left and dodging 5 players before flicking the ball just behind him so he could swing his left foot around it too smash home, Hutchinson described it as the best goal he has seen in his reign. Newcastle made it 3 through Yohan Cabaye in the 73rd minute as he picked the ball up 25 yards out and stung it in off the post. Then Hatem Ben Arfa in injury time as he cleverly placed a close-range effort to continue an impressive season for the frenchman.
