Another strong group stage performance, taking 16 points from 5 games. Strangely, it was IFK Goteberg of Sweden who proved to be our toughest opposition, taking a point off us in Sweden before putting a couple past us in Finland in a losing effort. We face Porto in the 1st knockout round, whom we put 12 goals past in 2 games last year.

Player of the Group Stages - Nnaemeka Ozokwo

5 goals in the 6 games from the Nigerian striker in the group stages.

RoPS in Champions League:

A decent performance from RoPS despite finishing bottom of the group. The highlight was a memorable win away vs Dortmund!

Honka in Europa League:

View attachment 350979View attachment 350978

Honka produced their best Europa League group stage performance so far, taking 8 points from their 6 games including a double of Belgian side Standard. Unfortunately, they missed out on qualification on h2h record against Viktoria Plzen.

A catastrophic start to the European Championship qualifying campaign as they lose at home to Bulgaria and then follow that up with a loss away to Latvia. They did beat San Marino at home in the 3rd game, but to be fair I'd expect them to score more than 3 at home to San Marino.

Transfers:

View attachment 350949

Two big sales alongside loaning a lot of youngsters out. Firstly, we managed to get a very decent £8,750,000 for young Finnish right back Martin Ericson from Real Madrid and then we sold centre back Ignacio Rocco to Benfica for £12,500,000 after he fell to 3rd place in the centre back pecking order.

View attachment 350948View attachment 350947

The one major incoming signing was a young Brazilian centre back named Raul with great potential, taking Rocco's place in the squad. The other signing was another backup keeper who should help merchandise sales in China, especially since we have a feeder club in the country.

Another league cup in the bag, sealed with an emphatic 5-1 victory over RoPS in the final!

Squad:

View attachment 350943View attachment 350942

We're pretty well covered in all areas, on our budget we can't afford to keep amazing backup players but as long as we are selling a player or two every year and replace then with a younger, cheaper player then we get by just fine.

1st Knockout Round - FC Inter Turku 6 - 1 FC Porto:

View attachment 350940View attachment 350941

A 2-0 victory away in Portugal, followed up by a 4-1 win in Finland meant that it was a pretty easy route into the quarter finals. We also have a very appealing looking quarter final awaiting us, after being drawn against French side Montpellier.

A brilliant smash and grab 3-1 victory at the City of Manchester stadium set us up brilliantly to reach our second ever Champions League final. We followed the result with a 2-2 draw in Finland, with a record attendance of 36,411 watching the game. We will play Arsenal in the final at the San Siro at the end of May, and we owe them some revenge after they put us out in the quarters last year.

3 years after beating Barcelona 1-0 in our first ever Champions League final, we win in our second ever Champions League final by the same scoreline against Arsenal. We made it hard for ourselves though, as after 70 minutes we got our left back sent off and so had to defend our 1-0 lead with 10 men for 15 minutes before Rodrigo Medel got injured 5 minutes from time and forced us to play the last 5 minutes + injury time with 9 men!

A great couple of months for the club, as we not only won the Champions League but also won every league and cup game over the two months.

Player Stats:

View attachment 350224

Linssen has excelled with all the game time in the league and cup, covering for Ozokwo who were were resting for our European games, and is averaging above 2 goals a start.

League Table:

View attachment 350222

Averaging above 5 goals scored a game, if we keep it up we will set a new record for league goals scored!

Other News:

1)
There's been some big money transfer dealings since we've won the Champions League. On the outgoings we've sold backup left winger Eizmendi to Bayern for £30,000,000. Once dubbed a wonderkid, the 20 year old had peaked in regards to his potential according to my assistant and that improvement was nowhere near my expectations. Another sale is that of first choice right winger Rovira for £12,500,000 to West Ham, cashing in on him as we have a very exciting winger on the way in.

View attachment 350220View attachment 350219

2)
Onto the incomings, we have arranged a record signing in the shape of 20 year old Polish wonderkid winger Adam Iwanowski for £24,000,000. He needs to work on his finishing a little but other than that all of the key stats are there and with 20 determination he should reach his potential pretty quickly. Also, we replaced Eizmendi with Dutch winger Van Dongen for just £5,000,000 from Dinamo Zagreb.

Our second Super Cup win is secured in our second ever appearance in the competition! Two second half goals from Ozokwo and Lehtonen, the second of which came from the penalty spot, secured the win over the French side inside a packed 30,000 seater stadium in Switzerland.

Champions League Group C:

View attachment 350145

To get Bayern as 4th seeds would seem an awful draw on paper, however they certainly aren't the Bayern of 2013. They haven't won the German league since 2019 due to the domestic dominance of Dortmund and Stuttgart. Monaco, on the other hand have won the league 4 times in the past 6 years, whilst Dynamo Kyiv have won the Ukranian league 6 times in the past 8 seasons.

RoPS and FC Lahti in Champions League:

View attachment 350144View attachment 350143

RoPS gained our automatic group stage spot due to us winning the competition last year, whilst FC Lahti managed to scrape through to the group stages with two away goal victories over PAOK and PSV. So, for the first time ever there will be 3 Finnish teams in the CL group stages!

Honka in Europa League:

View attachment 350142

Honka beat Ekranas of Lithuania and Guimares of Portugal to reach the group stages for a 3rd time in 4 years! They could sneak through in 2nd, but I feel they're most likely set for another 3rd place finish.

Next update will cover the last few months of the domestic season. Just to let you know, since the plans to build a new stadium were cancelled by the council at the end of the season, the option to build a new stadium has not become available yet in the boardroom but as soon as it does I'll be asking again.

We manage to go yet another season unbeaten however draws against FC Lahti and HJK mean we don't manage another 100% season. We also manage to get another Finnish Cup in the bag, with a backup 11 getting a 5-2 win over HJK.

Player Stats:

View attachment 349385

Linssen and Lehtonen have both had outstanding season, with Linssen bagging 56 goals and 20 assists in 33 starts and Lehtonen getting 27 goals and 33 assists in 34 starts. The funny thing is they're both actually backup players, however they look to be excelling due to the fact they end up playing more league games due to resting the team prior to European games. Linssen is probably my best signing on this save so far in terms of value, as we managed to bring him in on a free a couple of seasons ago.

League Table:

View attachment 349382

We set a new record of goals scored with 150 goals in 33 games, beating our previous record by 6.

Other News:

1)
We have a board takeover, but it is a quiet one and no extra investment will be given.

Group C:

A strong group stage performance from the reigning champions as we take 16 points from our 6 games, scoring 23 goals in the process. The draw against Dynamo Kyiv was disappointing as we were 2-0 up but I can't complain too much, especially since we have been given a nice draw against Zaragoza in the 1st knockout round.

Club World Championship:

View attachment 349320

A very easy win of the Club World Championship for the second time for the club, beating the African champions ES Setif in the semi finals and then the Asian champions Suwon in the final 5-0.

FC Lahti and RoPS in Champions League:

View attachment 349316View attachment 349315View attachment 349314

RoPS put in a pretty good performance in the group stages, taking 7 points and 3rd place in the progress. They'll play Zenit in the 1st knockout round of the Europa League. FC Lahti are less experienced in the Champions League and it showed, picking up just 1 point from a very tough group in which they were 4th seeds. Still, the group stage money should be decent for them.

FC Honka in Europa League:

Quarter Final - FC Inter Turku 3 - 4 Arsenal

View attachment 348836View attachment 348835

We fall in our quest to become only the second ever team to defend the Champions League, after Barcelona won it in 2023 and 2024. We fell 3-0 behind in the first leg at the Emirates, but a late away goal from Chilean attacking midfielder gave us some slight hope heading into the home leg in Finland. This hope was turned into expectation after our keeper Paavolainen saved an early Arsenal penalty and then a brace from Nigerian striker Ozokwo put us 2-0 up and heading through on away goals. Unfortunately, Spanish midfielder Sanchez broke our hearts by scoring in the 80th minute, putting Arsenal through 4-3 on aggregate.

Next up will be the season preview, including our transfer dealings...

Season Preview - 2032

Transfers:

View attachment 348827

We make a big profit on our transfer dealings this month as we take in £44,000,000 and spend just £3,350,000. On the outgoings, backup left back Martin Vera, 3rd choice keeper Li Chaoran and young winger Mulaudzi left for a combined £11,750,000. The big sale though, was when PSG offered us £32,000,000 for our young Scottish midfielder Lee Nicholson, an offer which we considered just too good to turn down as he was only back up and never threatened pushing into the 1st 11, and didn't even make the bench for Champions League games. We have replaced him from within with a young Finnish midfilder, he only has 2 star potential but should be fine cover domestically and shouldn't need to play in Europe.

View attachment 348826View attachment 348825View attachment 348824View attachment 348823

Onto the incomings, we brought a young Croatian winger on a free to sell on in a couple of years for profit, he sits in our b team for now and we'll probably try to loan him out in June. The other 2 transfers were bosmans who we agreed to bring in early for £1,700,000 each. Ramos is a great left back who comes in as first choice, whereas Everton is just a 3rd choice striker and will also probably be sold in a year or two for big profit, although we'll have to see how he develops. We also have two bosmans that will join on the 1st of July, a Brazilian centre back who will likely be a part of the 1st team squad and a Dutch winger who will act as a decent utility player for a year or so before being sold on for decent profit. I'm really happy with how the window has went and we should make big profits on the players we've brought in.

Yeah, it's about time! Wish I could have got it a couple of years earlier as there are a few players pushing their late 20's who might not see too much playing time under my management, but we do have a couple of quality youngsters and I think we have a chance of qualifying for our first ever World Cup if we can take on the tactic quickly enough.

View attachment 348352

I've already covered the two free transfers in on another post. The other two incomings are cheap players for the under 19's, with 2 and 2 and a half star potential. Nothing special, but hopefully will either be sold on for profit or will make decent back ups in a few years.

View attachment 348351View attachment 348350

On the outgoings, we first loaned a load of young players out to get first team football. It's becoming harder for young Finnish players to break into our side, so we may see more youngsters plying their trade abroad to help their development over the next few years. The 3 big sales brought in a combined £37,750,00 into the club's coffers. Everton, who we brought in 6 months prior on a free, was sold to PSG for £15,000,000. He was joined at PSG by Israeli full back Ben-Simon who, at 29, needed to be moved on whilst he still had value. Finally, Ukrainian utility man Anokhin moved to German side Hannover for just over £10,000,000, a sale which was all profit as we brought him in on a free 4 or 5 years ago.
