Country/Continent: England, Italy, Germany or Spain.
Tier: First
Financial state: Stable but somewhat rich
Media Prediction: Relegation candidates

Previous game was with Southampton, but that ended in a disaster. (Bad signings, low morale and eventually relegation and the sack.)

Malaga; Cesena; Wolves; or Sampdoria but they are in Serie B

Wait, I'll change my question a bit.

I agree with the previous poster, Cesena and Malaga are probably the best choices. Especially Cesena, they have a legend, Adrian Mutu (although he fcked up his career he's still a legend at this level, could have been better though), Bogdani, Eder, Malonga, Ceccarelli, Candreva, etc.

Malaga have loads of money and quite a few great players and old legends, such as van Nistelrooy. Others include Cazorla, Camacho, Joaquin, Rondon, Julio Baptista, Diego Buonanotte, jeremy Toulalan, and Martin Demichelis. So they're a great choice as well.

In Germany I'd go with Kaiserslautern as they're predicted for 16th but have a pretty decent team, some good youngsters too like Kostas Fortounis. The only thing that doesn't fit your requirement is that they're not rich, they're finances are listed as okay.

Couldn't find a thread where this would be relevant and didn't want to start a new thread, but which nations do I need to enable so that the Andorra National Team are available for me to manage?

Edit: Never mind, found out how to load nationalities.

Country/Continent: England, Spain, Italy, Germany, other European countries.
Tier: Doesn't Matter
Financial state: Preferably insecure/stable. (Want to rebuild squad through youth academy/youth transfers rather than established players.
Media Prediction: Doesn't matter

Essentially, I'm looking for a long-term save. I would like to build a squad of hopefully home-grown talent. Any suggestions?

Real Sporting de Gijón, spanish first division. Some REALLY good players (Miguel de las Cuevas is a great playmaker, Roberto Canella and Alberto Lora are two amazing fullbacks, Gastón Sangoy is a free-kick scoring machine), good facilities, a decent young system and around 20€M in wages/signings on the first year. Fun squad to play as if you want to get a decent team, with lots of opportunities to improve, without making the game too easy.

I've chosen Kaiserslautern, thanks!
No problem mate :)

@GCahill:
In Italy, there's a few interesting teams who fit your description in the Serie B - I recommend Ascoli, Albinoleffe, Reggina, and Modena. Most these teams have played in the Serie A before and were good teams at one point, but now their finances aren't as good etc. They have some pretty good youth though, so you can build on that and try to bring them back to glory :)

In other countries, like Germany and France, Mainz, Koln, Kaiserslautern, Hoffenheim, Nantes, St-Etienne, Monaco, Strasbourg, Stade de Reims, RC Lens, and Sochaux are some interesting options.

Yes, I know that feeling. I always start new games and after a while I lose interest (it could also be because my pc is too slow and I can't play more than 3 months in a day). So that's why I'm managing in the lower leagues, I find it more interesting and more challenging. So why not take on a challenge? The "Lowest League to Champions League" challenge is good. You can find it in the Challenges & Scenarios section. You take a team from the blue square north/south and develop them into a top-flight team. If that doesn't keep your interest, I don't know what will. So um.. yeah.. I dare you to do it :P
